  1. I think all recruits are judged in practice and scrimmages. Coaches have to start somewhere in their evaluation. As far as "Blue Collar", horse feathers. All top teams are made up of a mix of recruits and by shear numbers there aren't many 5 star recruits, like say DBG! What you miss is the star rating importance, think of it like the top 25 teams. If you play a top 25 team you had best bring a good game because they have talent and you don't want to run into that "On a given day". Like Stanford did.
  2. I gave all that up and I've never looked back. I hang my jigs on a metal coat hanger and spray them with primer. After they are dry I spray, think rattle can, with either green or brown camouflage paint. The paint holds up great and the heads are the color they should be, dull bottom critter.
  3. I agree!
  4. I'll take a native Redband out of a cold cascade river.
  5. Do a smallmouth and I'm in.
  6. I think everyone thought that at the start, but come to think of it they thought the same thing about the Chiefs!
  7. X2 I'll admit though I bought a bag several years ago out of necessity and it was cleaner. I'm sure the deer notice and appreciate that.
  8.
  9. OAF favorites? I have to ask who on here who hunts hare's, or even knows where some might be?
  10. You shouldn't have too much trouble finding cover, the lake is slightly past the old full mark.
  11. With that kind of money you would think he could pay someone to carry his stash? Quillback he probably had no more to do with that then signing when someone told him he couldn't get anymore than that.
  12. Kind of agree, at least with reference to the body. I also agree that the hackle can be overdone, but I don't like what I would call sparse. Colors WW? Black on black, brown on brown, ginger on ginger, yellow grizzly on yellow, olive grizz on olive, and grizz on black. Ginger is by far my favorite. Colors for WB's, black, olive, Sculpin, and brown. I tend to like solid color buggers with bead or cone heads.
  13. X2 Lots of people fish there and it could be poor handling. Hard to tell which predator it was.
  14. Personally I think they are in the wild guessing mode at this point rather than the educated prediction mode. There are some games left that can alter their prediction considerably. Mizzou isn't that far from an 11-2 record and a 12-1 isn't impossible. Auburn isn't a sure loser to AL in their rivalry. A lot of teams are past their sure wins and into the area where a few mistakes, rather than ability, makes the difference. Oregon Stanford was a case of Oregon stumbling and then not abale to overcome it because of Stanford's strength. There are some games left for some top 10 teams where a turnover, missed FG or dropped pass can turn things.
  15. Well I was going to say something, but then thought better of it. I'm still wondering what in the world he was doing in Riverside? I suppose he could have gotten high, gotten lost, and then was speeding to get the h#*(( out of there!
  16. Where were you fishing? We tried Barclay Monday, but nothing.
  17. I'm not sure Denver has seen a defense like KC and if the Chiefs offense plays against the Bronchos and not themselves, I can believe in another win. Manning is, believe it or not, is aging and that can sometimes make players more tentative when coming off of an injury. We'll see if that makes him hurry when he feels Hali behind him.
  18. Hmm this is a new one to me, I didn't know there were any secret spots left in the state?
  19. X2 This will tell a lot about the Chiefs, and may define the season.
  20. I don't think LOZ is any different then a lot of lakes. It can get rough, but so can others and that only seems to dictate a boat with good freeboard. I would look at a deep V aluminum with a good sized beam and preferably 18' or longer. LOZ is a big lake and it's not one big roller.
  21. I believe MS is a spoiler and needs to be taken seriously and I'm sure Mizzou will. TA&M is a different animal and one it seems has to be outscored because you can't defend them. Mizzou certainly has the horses to out score them, but just barely. Johnny football is no longer a surprise with his running, but he is an outstanding passer. Games that lean on passing can hinge on one DB's mistake. I think it will come down to Mizzou's DL and how much pressure they can bring to bear because the DB's can't make a big change unless the passes are hurried and off a little. On the otherwise Mizzou needs to play a very clean game and not hurt themselves. Depending on who is guarding him, DGB could be a big factor because he is maturing rapidly. He's got an NFL reach.
  22. This is the time of the season where you hope your team is still in the hunt. Mizzou is certainly still there and accoding to the old adage, "have their fate in their hands". They are in a position to play the number 1 team, before the NC game and it's rare to be there. They could conceivably leap to the game, so to speak. As far as Mauk goes, anytime you have to bring in a new QB at the start of a season its' huge advantage when he's been pre-tested under fire. Mizzou will get a huge boost next year from his experience this year.
  23. Whats the beef about chubs? rig a 2 or 3 wgt and have some dry fly fun. Purist!
  24. Had them here. If you wonder down the yarn aisle at your friendly Walmart you can find lots of "worm" material. Look for Bernat Baby Blanket yarn, it's like very thick chenille and a little Rit for the right color and you have worms or trailers.
  25. I've always believed I did better with a little, very little, highlight hair on the belly. I think it's because crawdads often have a little chartreuse or red edge on their carapace. Minnows have various color stripes on their sides. I don't believe fish reason, but I do believe they get conditioned to color combinations meaning food.
