  1. You could try either Creve Coeur Lake or Mallard Lake (the lake right next to it), You can also launch at Simpson Lake, or Geroge WInter, and you can just stay in the back water area.
  2. Mark me down for one. I also despise the inevitable backlash, and money donation to the lake.
  3. I have a brother that is finishing up a finance degree at UMSL. I'll ask him if he is interested.
  4. No pic for me either.
  5. Busch - Most diverse, lots of lake to choose from. Bass will typically be around 12 in, but I've caught a few 3, 4, and 5 lbers before. Lots of crappie. Even Musky in lake 35. Can rent boats once the weather warms up for like 5 bucks. You can bring your own trolling motor and battery if you have one. Queeny - Probably smaller bass, but I've caught a few big ones on a Jig. Recommend a ned or a jig. Chesterfield - Typical bass fishing probably looking at 12-18 inchers. Cranks, Worms, anything really. If you want to go after some big cats, you can try fishing at Howell Island. Won't get the monsters that are in the main river, but still have some good sized ones there. Also can target gar if you're into that sort of thing.
  6. Queeny Park, Lake by the Chesterfield Ampitheater, Busch Wildlife is probably only 20-30 minutes away.
  7. Don't most photo uploading sites, such as this, wipe the exif data when the image is uploaded. I assume that is the picture you uploaded with the data. Try downloading it from the post and looking. I believe it will be mostly stripped of data.
  8. I throw it on a 6'9" Kistler Magnesium TS ML, a Daiwa Ballistic 3000, and usually just 6lb Trilene XL. Would agree M is too heavy, I don't use braid because I hate the wind knots and apparently I'm too stupid to avoid them. Have tried a Fenwick HMG light action i think in either 6' or 6'6" but that one feels to short for my liking. Also have used a 6'11" Daiwa Tatula Spinning, ML, really liked that rod, but the tip is very very thin and I broke it off rather easily. Really liked the rod but didn't get another because I was afraid I would break it again.
  9. 36, I think. The one on the right after the main building.
  10. Yes, definitely caught some. Haven't been regularly enough to know if it's consistent. I'd recommend a bit further up. Try out Sherman Beach or Wabash and Frisco. With regards to Kirkwood parks people, can they kick you out if you are in the river? Where does the property line end?
  11. Stopped by on my Lunch break today. Hadn't had much success this winter with size. Was ripping a lipless crank through the grass. Caught these two in about 30 minutes. Wish I didn't have to head back to work. The front moving in with the recent warmer temps seemed to have the girls turned on. Both fish looked very healthy and fat. Big one was probably about 4 inches longer than the 18" ruler I had.
  12. This Saturday, March 4th, at Helen Fitzgerald's in St. Louis, MO is the St. Baldrick's fundraiser. St. Baldrick's is a group that raises money for childhood cancer research. Adult cancer gets the majority of the funding for research, and there are differences in the diseases for children and adults. I will add some links below if you would like some more information. I will be shaving my head as part of the event, and if I meet my goal, I'm going to be shaving my beard off as well. I am participating in the event in honor of my college roommate (lost to leukemia) and in memory of a boy who played on my coworker's son's soccer team. If anyone is in the area looking for something to do this Saturday, come on out to Helen's. Grab a beer, eat some wings, and watch everyone get their heads shaved. If you would like to donate, I'm including my link below as well as a link with more information about Helen's and the event. https://www.stbaldricks.org/participants/mypage/891197/2017 https://www.stbaldricks.org/events/mypage/7/2017 https://www.stbaldricks.org/

    What's Cooking?

For Christmas eve we had the family over. I made a pretty random assortment of food, but it was good. Buffalo Chicken Wontons, Smoked Ribs, and Scallops - 3 ways - champagne shallot butter, brown butter caper sauce, and garlic butter. Last night we had mexican at home, and man oh man were these good... Fried tacos... For the filling I seasoned the chicken very heavily with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and chili powder. Seared it in a pan. Pulled apart the chicken and mix the chicken, leftover juice from the pan, and half can of refried black beans. Put the filling in a corn tortilla and deep fried for a bit, and fill with cheese right after they came out. Served with sour cream, homemade guac and salsa, shredded lettuce, and Jalapenos. MMM MMM MMM.
  18. I'd recommend the following... 1. Daiwa Ballistic EX 2500 https://www.walmart.com/ip/40179463?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&adid=22222222227028143870&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=46539869792&wl4=pla-90989024192&wl5=9022803&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=online&wl12=40179463&wl13=&veh=sem 2. Shimano Stradic CI4+ STCI43000FA , (on sale at TW now) http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Shimano_Stradic_CI4_Spinning_Reels/descpage-SSCI.html 3. If you don't want to go over $100, this is a great reel too. Daiwa Exceler, http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Daiwa_Exceler_Spinning_Reels/descpage-EXE.html
  19. I have a Masterbuilt Electric. I find the convenience factor has led to me smoking more items than i would have with a charcoal of propane smoker. You buy it to use it right? I still have a weber kettle that I can use for high heat or other various things, but the temp set and control feature of the elcetric is pretty nice. Plus mine came with an internal temp sensor, so you don't have to open the box to check temp, another added bonus. Sure it's not gonna win smoking contests, but still gets plenty of flavor and well worth the convenience factor to me.
  20. You still hitting the Mississippi or is this the Meramec?
  21. Grandma's simple but delicious glaze. Just warm in the oven, then coat with yellow mustard and push on brown sugar as it bakes. Simple but delish.
  22. Sweet Smalliebigs. Care to recommend any areas to try. I usually hit up the Missouri (Howell Islands) as its close to work, but I'd love to try to hit the Mississippi some time. Would be limited to the bank. I love the challenge of these urban rivers around us.
  23. Sounds like a college money grab...
  24. Didn't mean to say push more than a kid could handle. Just speaking from my own experiences. Graduated MO state 7 years ago. Left high school with a semester and a half out of the way. That's a few thousand that I'm not paying back today. I paid (financed?) my own way through school, so if I could go back I would've tried to get even more credits out of the way. The real challenge is figuring out what you want to do in life. At 18 I had no idea. Hell at 29 I stil don't really know. High school counselors need to do a better job of explaining what a typical day in the life a career entails. Expected hours, pay scales, whether your expect to work more than 8-5 in order to be promoted, etc. The core courses i was talking about are just good building blocks to get into basically any industry at a well paying rate.
  25. Get as many college credits as you can in high school Spend semesters 1,2,3, maybe 4 in community college knocking out your general level courses. Then transfer somewhere like Missouri State or Truman. Depends on what she wants to do after college, but your fundamental courses are the ones that will bring the most $$$ post grad. Math, Chemistry, Physics, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Computer Programming. If you're smart you can convert those skills into any industry you want.
