  1. Amen QB it has been one tough winter for me also. So ready for spring to get here! Thanks for the report Sprint.
  2. You made the best of a tough day. I fished the K city area last Sunday for a couple of hours, and found tons of shad from 30 to 70 feet over water anywhere from 90 to 130 feet deep. Location was in the first half of creeks. Caught a few but didn't see alot of fish above or below the shad nor could you see any feeding activity on the graph.
  3. Better late than never. I enjoyed your video. Can't wait until spring and catching them on the ned rig.
  4. Haven't been able to watch the video yet. You tube is blocked by our IT department at work. Are these home made baits? If not what company manufactures them? They look good.
  5. I use 50# green power pro braid for the A rig for several reasons. It has less memory especially in cold weather, which reduces back lashes to a minimum. The rig tends to get stuck, and I can usually get the rig out without breaking off, due to the strength of the braid. When it's thrown and retreived at the right depth and location you get plenty of action on the rig, so the fish don't seem to be line shy. I get plenty of distance on the cast with the right rod/reel set up. With the zero stretch of the braid you feel everything. On the other hand I would not consider mono for the rig due to the stretch, memory, and the big diameter of the line. Just my opinion and what has worked for me.
  6. I remember that Bill. We were talking about the sticker fishing getting better if the water temps continue to fall. Well we may get our wish, as the surface temps are going to take a dip. Do you think this will affect the shad that are so deep in the warmer layers of water?
  7. Yes, Happy New Year to all, and thanks to everyone who contribute on this forum. The information posted here is as good as it get's. Together we can make 2014 a very special fishing year. A big THANK YOU also to Phil and Bill for all that they do to make this forum a success!
  8. A good way to spend new years day and your birthday. Sorry the catching wasn't better for you. Sounds like Champ and Donna struggled also. QB did report a good day dragging the tube on another thread. I just don't think there are alot of fish shallow right now, which is why the sticker is not getting it done. On the other hand it sometimes takes so much time running around checking different locations to locate the deep fish, which is what I have been doing. When I have located the big shad schools, and fish around them the catching is fast and furious.
  9. Happy New Year QB. Nice report and pic's. Glad you brought 2014 in with a good days fishing.
  10. Great report and Pics of fish, and the graph shots are super. Very interesting situation of super aggresive feeding bass. I agree with Champ and Bo that the jerk bait bite has not been good so far this winter due to the depth of the majority of the shad. Hopefully as the water temp continue's to drop the bait will move up. In the meantime fishing deep will be the game.
  11. Sounds good guys. Good idea, with some great topics mentioned.
  12. Bo, Any topwater action with those shad being close to the surface. Sounds like a black buzz bait would work? Thanks for posting the report.
  13. Do you drill the hole all the way through the spoon body? Your spoons look good Danger. Have you tried them yet? Thanks.
  14. Congrats on your TR personal best LMB. That is great bass anywhere you fish. This time of year patterns are hard to establish from one day the next, or even hour to hour. I will catch em good doing something for a few hours, then that pattern is over. I think the fish are so scattered in all locations and depths. For me the wart and the jig have been the most consistent bite for keepers. Thanks for the report.
  15. Thanks for the report and pic's QB. I will be coming over to the Rock this weekend, and look forward to some great tree colors, and fishing. I will try and post a report on the Kimberling City area.
  16. Sounds like the jig is still working. I agree with BB, that is a great color jig. Thanks for the report and pic's those chunky fish.
  17. Nice report Duck. Very good numbers and size. Sounds like the Kings is hot. You've certainly got them figured out. With all the clouds and wind you'd think the crank would get them, but the blade is a fun also. Glad you had a great day.
  18. Neb, Champ is correct about the dock deal. His knowledge of the Rock and post are always on target. Another pattern during bright sky's and glass surface is the abundance of fish in the middle of the creeks and deep pockets. These fish are following huge balls of shad, some suspended and others on or near the bottom. I located these fish, and went after them with a drop shot. Couldn't get them going, and guessed they just weren't feeding. Plus It's hard to compete with so much bait in the area. I still believe that the right time and place could be good. Vacation time has me here thru the end of this week, will try and post more each time I go out.
  19. Started fishing Saturday after the rain ended, mostly cloudy sky all day. The wart bite was really good on fairly steep sloping banks mostly main lake, and some secondary points. The football jig was also working on bluff ends, and irregular features on river channel banks. Caught fish on the crank right on the bank out to 10'. Jig fish were from 8' down to 20'. Mixed bag of K's, LM, and SM. Fished for 5 hrs, tallied 6 keepers and 5 shorts. Same deal today under mostly clear skys with some wind. Water temp about 71 degrees. Total of 14 with half being keepers. The jig took honors with the bigger fish, which were mostly K's and an 18" SM. Great fall weather, trees are starting to turn, and the fishing at the Rock is getting good. Good Luck
  20. My wife and I have a second home in the mid lake area between Lampe and Baxter. I do most of my fishing around the KC area, and have found it to be very productive throughout the year. Like trytofish mentioned above I can put the boat on the trailer and get to any part of the lake in 30 minutes or less. I can also run by boat up or down lake several miles and have tons of good fishing. The area is very quite, and not over developed. The lake can have more boat traffic than I prefer during the summer months, but not during the spring, fall and winter. It sure is nice to have only a 10 minute drive to KC, and about 30 minutes to Branson.
  21. The bait looks like a fluke jr. in pearl white. the jig head looks to be 1/4 oz. Is this correct Cindyjo? Great report and pic's. Seeing that view on the sonar will get you excited won't it? Good Fishing
  22. Good report. Will be on the lake all next week for vacation, so your report will help. I will post any results I have next week. Thanks for posting.
  23. HA HA! Did you find in eggs in that nest? Were there any fish caught, or did it take the rest of the day to pick that out?
  24. Good report Champ and Donna. Congrats on the good small jaw, looks to be about 20" or so. I can't wait for the cooler water temps. We had a slow couple of hours last Saturday in the KC area. We did catch one good smallie on a tube, and several non keeper K's with the finese jig, then decided to eat dinner early and get ready for the HOG game.
  25. Great report. Gotta love the topwater bite. This is first report I've read lately where the topwater bite was good, so glad to hear that. The conditions must have been perfect for it. The football jig has been working for me also. Good fishing.
