  1. Yup....crappie on stockton do the same thing. From june through september, they hang out at the mouths of spawning coves and eat bandits and flicker shads. Its odd behavior for sure.
  2. Your really selling yourself short if your not using a rod thats 300$ or more. You just wont get the bites. Just kidding lol check out fenwick silverhawk7ft med light fast or even 6'6" light fast. Can find em for 60$ but usually 100. Pflueger president/supreme and 4# mono. Good setup for light stuff. I throw 1/64-1/8 oz jigs on em.
  3. Good idea marking the line. My ds rod has 15/4 power pro depth hunter with 5ft of fluoro leader. Same concept. I had some leftover from spooling my trolling rods and it works great.
  4. Also I dont worry about watching it on my graph. If fish are down there theyll eat it.
  5. Less line twist and no pinch like a split shot rig. More finesse than a standard jig. More efficient cuz you use a heavier weight. I fish it vertically either just off the bottom or suspended. Ive caught fish on it over 150fow. That said its also just another vertical option. Some days I catch more with a split shot or spoon. Other days drop shot works better. Look at bablers old posts regarding drop shots. Its a good how to.
  6. Those are some really great walleye! Putting a walleye pattern together down here is no easy task.
  7. Saw dead shad today in kimberling. No bass.
  8. Thanks for the great report!
  9. Bob is one of two guys who have helped me the most with fishing on these forums. Not just stockton but fishing in general. His reports are great. His seminar on crappie fishing at stockton was very informative. He explained what they do in detail for every season and how he targets em. Clearly he knows how to catch walleye too. Thanks for all of your fantastic contributions to this forum!
  10. Yes please do! I would say that 90% of my experience on stockton comes from between the mile long bridge and the twin bridges. Also those islands around masters. Never been up the rivers, and only fished the dam end a few times.
  11. You would know. Your the worst on this entire forum when it comes to trolling/ stirring the pot.
  12. Its really unfortunate that this is what ozarks anglers is now. Its become more like a video game forum where teenagers in moms basement just call each other names. At least there are other forums on this site where legit information is still shared. At least for now, untill champ and rick start ruining those forums too.
  13. This is the most incredible walleye report ive ever heard on stockton. Ive probably caught less than that many walleyes my entire life. A good day for me walleye fishing is 2-4 keepers and 8-10 shorts, in 5-6 hours of fishing.
  14. September is a good time of year for me on stockton. Done well over the last few years (mid/late september) with walleyes trolling tail dancers and flicker shads, and jigging worms. Ill be down there this year too i think, maybe ill see ya down there! Its the same technique as the summer pattern but usually they are shallower 13-15ft. Trolling always catches me at least a few crappies on stockton no matter what time of year ive been out there (never in the dead of winter), but there are probably better ways to catch em in september. All that said...."doing well" for me is catching more than one keeper and a few shorts among non target species, so its all relative. That one guy that caught 111 in one day...thats more walleye than ive caught on stockton in my life, id do what he does lol.
  15. Thanks for the info, this was very helpful. They are fantastic little fish to catch on light gear, pound for pound fewer fish pull as hard as bluegills!
  16. Could not have said that better.
  17. I think the logical next step with these things are computerized motors with cameras and motion sensors possibly even a shocker/stunner. Think if humminbird and motor guide teamed up to make a 2000$ swimbait....

    Graphs

The paper and pen is for jotting down notes while on the water, i use the contour map for contours (gps is helpful too though ill admit)....Example. 08/03/12. 2 adjacent gravel/chunk rock runout points, Main lake 1 inside bend, 1 creek channel/main lake junction 6-7am. Vertical presentation, 2 fish on spoon, 2 on DS, 3 on Crawler. 2 on bottom in 22 fow over sharp drop, 5 fish 25ft down over 50-80ft over that ledge. Larger fish on bottom, larger fish on spoon. I have pages and pages of notes like this from various points/docks/humps/islands/pilings/bluffs ect. This makes it easier for me to pinpoint patterns on bodies of water i only get to fish a few times a year. Its a process of honing in on a bite/pattern as quickly and efficiently as possible, and perhaps more importantly eliminating variables that arent producing bites.
  19. Well darn it...thats what i was afraid of, you just costs me a bunch of money now. :/ Hmm I figured id need a heavier rod for that crank, good to know. Im gonna pull the trigger on a few i think cuz i wanna troll em.
  20. Anyone use that 10xd? I dont have a rod big enough to throw that but it looks awesome. Ive considered buying 1 or 2 for long lining.

    Graphs

A contour map and 2d sonar/flasher/something that tells you how deep of water your in. Can get that for less than 100$. Everything else is just for fun. I think its a misconception that you need fancy electronics for deep water at table rock. You do not need much at all. A pen and graph paper can help you catch more fish than 2000$ graphs. Pay attention to when you get bites. Details details details. Hit lots of points in a short time. And put together patterns.
  22. Thats a good point, hadnt thought about that.
