i am about certain they would have. I been in that sitution twice. First was time on Wapapello.Lake Looked like snow like snow but I still went up the lake. Stopped this tiny dent in the bank and cast my lure( no longer remember it was ) It no more hit the water and the surface just exploded. Landed 5 lb bass. By the time I got it off it was snowing so hard I Could not see the target. I made a couple bllind cast and even I decided I better get my butt back to St Louis. I could not see the bank line for the most part coming in. Was almost running blinded back to Chonia Landing.. That Was scary enough, but the drive up 67 was hair raising. Big18 wheelescq shooting up past me would turn everything into a total white out. There was everything you can imagine run down into the meridian. By the time I got home (5-6) hours later. Iwalked through the door a kissed the floor.I never thought I would make it. The next time was on Stockton and a sinilar storm I was on the lee wind side across from where we camped with my friends young son in a 12 ft deep v with a 9.5 motor. We were catching nice bass back deep in a cove and never noticed the weather changing till suddenly it was like a blizzard. I ran that boat back across that lake through swells we could not see over. I sort of set the boat up on the wall of a swell and surfed our way back Boat was taking on water as well because the wet snow was melting in the warmer hull., Very grateful for my navy service for educating me about wave actions. Well Wrmander to make a long story short the whole lake is in some stage of turnover and not all at the same stage. So you can see it is a very fluid complex ongoing process that you cannot predict for the whole lake or even small places. If I m going to try to fish in this type sitution I m going to look for spots that the fish might move into for winer protetion. I would be fishing my lure at a snail pace and not worring about ll the tehnical stuff. Thtvos wht I would do if I did it.

Every year we go thru this turn over conversation. The tiun over temperature is 39 degres but is complicated by a whole lot of different things. the whole lake does not turn over at the same time.

Wrench I brought on my bass tackle. I think the lake temp is going to nose dive into the mid 50 s by next weekend anything colder than today seems to get to my old bones. I think I am done with the bass till the days start jumping ahead in Late Jan and Feb . I hve a couple freshly brushed docks in the area. I will be visiting them I am sure.

Those pelicans can be aggresive.

I think I am going to head up that way today or tomorrow Wrench. If the shorts are hanging around the corners of the docks thar spells fun to me. That particular type of thing is not happening down here at all even far back in the coves.

I do not know the area you fishing but ths lowering of the water has caused havoc with the lower lake for me. Ths is my time of year to have a lot of fun with sinkos.. I look forward to this every year when the sknko fishng fades so do I. Just to cold for my old bones. I started in earnest yesterday. I could hardly find a bass. The lowering of the lake has left most of the places and structures they lurk around this time of tear out of the water are almost. . It has changed the way they are feeding. I caught one Bass yesterday 3 1/2 and the one below today. That was 5.44. If you know where winter deep banks are you just got to fsh them till your sick of it Both these fish were about 8ft. That males for long time retrieves . I think the big ones are up right now.

.Nothing against carp here. way back in the 70s I and some others i knew used to fish carp for their church ln SE Mo. They ground the them and added spices and things and turned them into patties, froze them and distribed them to poor families in the area. Used to go out 4 fishermen with our corn bait and light fishing rods in 2 boat and a empty 12 ft John boat. There were times when we accualy filled that boat to full of carp. My son a week or ago landed some 5 and 6 ft sharks fishing from a beach in Florida. He does it every year. Loves to catch those big fish that have him out gunned. I think the reason for that is I took him at about age 6 or 7 to Creve Coure park and gave him a crappe outfit with 4 lb test line and taught him to play a fish. The below picture is of him and a couple of those carp that were turned fine eating paddies. That provived some needed food to the poor. So I have seen good things that can come from carp fishing.,

Blazerman you sound to me like somebody from the boating clan. How long have you lived here on LOZ 24 7 ? . Do you own a lake front yourself ? Ever repaired a sea wall.? The real problem is not boats it is people. And what they bring here and their behavior in general. A boat cannot do much on itself. The problem is all over the ozarks. This year has been the worst yet. I believe the boating people are deliberately showing their arrogance by trying to cause damage becaise they have been told they need to be more careful. No fishing is not better than it was 20 yrs ago. And tournaments are contributing to this down turn. Not because of what they catch but what they ultimately promote. The lakes are filled with wanna be fishermen who primary interest is mostly appearance. they are not resl fishermen. Then there is pollution and development the more people your more your going to have of it. Sewage from leach fields , dumps ,construction and what have you will go inro the ground and travel to ozark lakes through the quaffers in our rocky land. And it does hot have to be on the shore or even close, All connected to people mostly people who do not care ect fpr pleasing themselves.

Pros are paid to say anything the sponsor wants them to say. As far as the red hooks go I just look at it as another fleecing of the fisherman. All these extravigant color patterns ,high detail and what have you, or for with the exception of trout fishing flys. I will say this. If you believe in a color or pattern then fish it because the confidence telagraphs from you to the lure. In shorg its you not the lures color I t have just seen the color theory debunked to many times in my life. OH I better mention some people believe everything has to have eyes. They can feel the line I thonk as well by way of their lateral lines. .I remembef WAY back a long ago when Garcia first started making big waves. Old timer in the shop I ised to frequent and gauk a lot of the fosherman did not like them becaise they saod they made to mich noise reeling.. They believed what ever noise the reel made was tranmotted down the line. I agree woth that. Wish their was more study about the noise you create just realing in your line and what tht even matters. I think now days there is so much vibration going on in the water that it is like being downtown in a big city.

Color is very limited( that should start a arguement) the action of the lure and the presentation after you get into the right place at the right time is what does it. As far a the line attacting or repelling fish Ido not think so. What is on the end of the line and what it is doing is the important thing.

I shufflers go after are feeding down current on the forge uncovered. .If you made your cast ditectly to the anchor area and let your lure come back to you I have to wonder. It would appear to me to be like the shuffelers effect. I certainly do not see anything wrong with it. It is just wpuld be another technique that would have to be mastered.

CONNOR The Lake os going to be 100 yrs old iin a little over a decade. I have mich doubt in anything acurate on a map that wass made before the lake ws built. There are sp many fosh holding changes out there I really have no need for it.

We have had all sorts of things wander apund here. A couple of lions got out of a sanctuary. few years back and were wondrong around the Laurie / Gravois Mills area for several days.

I am trying sometime with lock tight at this time. I seen on the bottle to keep it cool. I think if you put it away in a warm house it does something to it. Mine is in a small cooler. We will see.

So is grandsaughter. She has been reading and spelling words since she was 4. She had her IQ tested last year year in 1st grade at 134 or 35. I never heard of a valedictorian in gifted child system.. The gifted program is only designed to stimulate thinking and deflect boredom. There is no grading or standings in it. They mostly give them puzzels that are tricky to solve. Those get more complex each year. She is cleared for grades 1-12 if she wants to. They do not force them to attend. The program is meant to increase there mental problem solving capacity while at the same time deflecting boredom. When you advance kids ahead of their peer group. They found it will often cause identity problems. that lead to other problems that are not good to carry into life. At least that was the way the PHD that that coducts he program explained it to her parents.

M & M I I think he is erfering to some apecial small spot. I would not want him to tell me. To me finding spots s a big part of the fishing. I can tell you there are just thousands of points and flats on loz that will will produce these fish. The bigger the better. You first got to ask atound where they are rising then go down there at thecright time of day. Some days they rise off and on all day. But nothing beats evenings all the way to dark. Whites seem a easier to catch than Hibrid chasing them around vreaking the surface. I do my Hybrid fishing bumping the bottom straight down or making short cast and and jerking the spoon through the water when I find a few fish grouped one the depth ifnder. Most of my larger Hybrids come on breaks where the flat drops off into deeper water. My troller is going almost constntly when I'm searching for Hybrods down deeper on those points and flats. I have what moght seem as a silly theory to many. I thonk if tou can intercept them moving from deep to shallow to feed your going to catch more fish.

I have owned my hand controlled bow mount 24volt Mazxxum since they first came out and it gets worked l at least a 4 evening a week thru most of the season. Right now it is running almost constantly hunting the Hybrid scuools for 2-3 hours in the evening when ever I can. They Cannot find a replacement prop that is because of sone oddball thing that happened in the manufactiring end. Inlearned this when the shear pin hole were damaged about 3-4 years ago. I made some modifications using rubber washers a nails ground a certain way and a couple other things. The motor is still chugging along with plenty of power.
