  1. the picture on there now. Wenche youngest daughter did it. I told her I was going to post it for everyone to see. Boys he is so proud. I jut love to flirt with her be tease her. I call her Beaty queen and all sorts of stuff. I am somewhat of the village jester around town. Blacks use to call me a jive turkey. Hell I learned it from them.

  2. How many of you think you can swim 100 yards? .
  3. This is a friends daughter. I told her I would put the picture up for everyone to see. Hope it encourages her to do more.
  4. it all depend on how big and rough your lake is. How old you are and your general health. But if your out on lake in a 8 ft boat that has big bass bots running around wear a PFD without fail and get rid of that boat. I went for year not wearing one may have been stupid and lucky. Now I am 76 yrs old with the aches and pains that accompany that. I do not even get into in My 181/2 ft deep V. Without it on.
  5. I am doing all my crappie fishing in a spot 10x 28. I got two keepers this afternoon about 2pm got one yesterday that was one of the biggest I have gotten in awhile. Was real close to 17". Was over a inch thick. These fish I catch in my stall are usually in thereto feed.never more than a couple ft deep. As a rule. I have been spending most of my fishing time in my yard trying to learn to cast with my right arm.
  6. Take very good care of yourself warrior. I've been down that road myself.
  7. You guys are a bad influence. I am getting bored and playful like this 1/16 oz crappie jig

      Looking good Harry!!

  8. I fish it on 12 lb test with 0/4 hooks and stuff like giant trick worms. I fist it mostly around docks. I might flip it a bit now and then but mostly it is just strait down depth varies Mostly between 10-30 ft. i
  9. Should be some of these boys on here from down on Table Rock can help you. I only fish the heavy stuff on LOZ and it is about the same construction as the regular way but the bait, line and weight are a lot larger. I can assure you it will catch fish.
  10. i do not know if this is considered recycling but I will be getting rid of my two big trolling motor batteries sometime this winter. i buy a lot of stuff a Mennards. When they have those 10% rebates. I think we got about $300 this year in rebates right now. So my big 105 amp deep cycle batteries run about $80 each. So I will wait till the 10% sale going on and then take my batteries get the trade in and pay what's left out of my rebates. Then will have about $16 in new rebates. I love that place. I seen gas in Springfield today for $1.67
  11. There are differ t ways to drop shot. Are you talking about traditional small type are heavy stuff.
  12. They make nice mini crappie jigs as well. Tougher than marabou. I am using 1/64 currently.
  13. DTRS5kprs-----I think the standard football jig would catch more in the current on rocks. Mitch's jigs have a different angle on them that I believe might be of aid in preventing that. I have not fished rivers in years. I only used ball headed back in the day. mOtch can explain it better than I ever could. Tell me do you live in that area of Kansas close to Okla that has been shaking. I have been following that closely. They seem to be getting stronger and more frequent. I seen a article where some expert in that stuff said they could expect quakes of 6 or better. They keep it up and they are going to crack or bust one of those reservoir damns down there.
  14. SETH---- You would about have to just about drag wrench into water over 6-8 ft anytime of the year. In this lake.
  15. It's a long way but Ed Bryant at Ozark Outfiters up in Laurie mo by LOZ just might be one of the best around. He has been doing this at least 50 yrs.
  16. Lots of good smallmouth fishermen on here. Many make their own baits and Mitch designs things for others. you should receive plenty of good advise.
  17. I rarely use anything but Pro Bass Shops mono. amd not above 12 lb test. I use 10 lb braid to crappie fish and fishing sinkos sometimes. i like the tiny dia of the braid but still have the strength. I tie everything directly to the line. Leaders to me are asking for trouble. I do not think it makes that much differance to the fish. I am convinced fish hear or feel the vibrations from a line when you are reeling it are even moving it. They have taught me thru experience that they can find things in muddy water and at night. Expanded vision aside they must be able to detect movement close to that of a bat.
  18. Since you seem to be a big lure collector do you know anyone up here at LOZ does that. I have a friend up here has betweensomewhere over 13,000 I would think you knew who he is. I do not put friends names on here. If you know him just say yes.
  19. Water temperature can vary all over the place on the surface. If there is a sunny day and the water temperature is 50 degrees it 1it could be near 60 on shoreline boulders depending on wind time of day etc. In the spring that is where you want to be. But it might have some value no doubt about that. I would never depend on anything like that. There are just to many things that can influence that quickly. Such as wind ,clouds ,current and on water structures like docks. If you put your gauges on docks they may very well read cooler than the temperature around the docks.
  20. I got a pic here of something you might want to try.

These or 1/64th oz crappie jigs. They are so easy to make. I just cut off about 3/8 of a inch of a rabbit strip and glue it to the bottom of the hook in back of the jig head with super glue. then wrap and seal it to the head.  They work well in colder water. I use them all the time on my favorite  crappie rod, A image.jpeg.8f3463f8b6f7313f4d10b7d580fa87 ft ultra lite rod with 10lb test braid on it. That stuff is so thin and the rods so long I can cast these little devils close to 30 ft wet. I use crappie candy a lot also on ligs

      Those look great!

  21. Well the crappie are defiantly active. But the bite was late evening. I caught 6-7 in about a hour last evening shallow and deeper. 4 were real nice and the others were maybe keepers. I did not measure them. Was down there a bit ago and there were shallow chasers that looked pretty good but would not bite.
  22. It looks like it is going to be a fine weekend and as a matter of fact the whole next week looks good. I caught 7 crappie off th dock last evening. They were getting a bit faded out and a little slower on their runs. After. evrything was straight down fishing on with them hitting on the drop. I would not surprise me to see the deep freeze arrive after this warm streak

Very nice... I wish I was able to make it down this weekend. Not sure when I'll be back down with the holidays... Maybe sometime in January. Hope you continue to catch em!

  23. Plenty of Pelicans also
  24. I like the design with Mitch's the angled edges of his. Jig I believe are what makes it slid over rocks easier. He done a fine job on designing them. As soon as I seen the first one I knew it would be a very fine river jig. Since there going to have a bait company. I would. Like to suggest they call that jig Mama San.
  25. I live on Cedar point straight across from Gibson point. That has been a very poor place. To catch anything last few years. I really think it has something to do with all the boat traffic.i used to have hoarders of bluegill around. My dock and drum and carp feeding in the area all the time. Kids. Loved it. Now there is vertually nothing. i seen in today's paper where Rep Wood is introducing legislation about the wakes he wants the no wake zone expanded to 300 ft from 100 ft. If it comes to be there. Will be fines and ticketing for several things relate to wakes. Also any cove less than 600 ft automatically is a no wake zone. I will wait and see. If you get a chance to read it wrench do so.
