Your certainlyheaded tovthe rigt area. southern ILL was one of three areas we considered as retirement. The lakes like Little Grasy, Devils Kitchen, and Egypt are some of my old sromping grounds. Then there is Crab Orchard. the monster bas that used to xome out of that shallow muddy place would would put all our reservoirs to shame. I do not know why so many kayakers do not hit the strip pits also in central ILL. I necer se anything about all that on here.
I do not fish top waters much but was fishing a old spook wooded spook yeasterday morning. Still like it. I think you can get broader cadence range with it. That is exactly where this spook comes from. Early to mid. 70s.
I bought this reel brand New. Down at Pro bass in Springfield. Garcia reel are a reel good value.
.
WARFRAT----- I have on doubt it is a Garcia. And yes it is pretty old. I just forgot the model number is really what its all about. forgetting things is what I do best anymore. That little reel is very smooth and as fast as lightening. It is just about to fast for me anymore I had to put the break pad back into the centrifugal break and start using them. I am bot sure I am going to worry much about the lock washer. The thread I tied around the slots where the washer was are acting like a jam nut so thats just fine with me. I was out with it this morning burning up the water with a Old wood Zara Spook older than the reel by far. Only caught one small one. Did not do much last evening either on a worm. The reason I was out there this morning with the Zara is because Wrench had a rare evening last evening with the Zara just a few miles away. I kind of get stuck in my ways sometimes.
I have a small Garcia reel I have had for several years. last summer It suddenly developed a wobble in the crank. I opened the plate and found that the tiny retaining washer that is located over the nut at the end of that gear assembly I guess you might call it had for some reason just snapped. I never had that happen before. So I improvises a retained washer by wrapping size E nylon thread around the slot a few times. and tying it off. well it has worked fine but I still want the washer. The reel is a Garcia it has a raised picture on one side of a guy catching a bass. The reel is silver and the raised picture is gold. anybody know the model.
Paradigm is also the name of a national award winning Hosta plant. I never heard of the word before that. I looked it up and still cannot figure why the developer picked that name. In the world of Hosta it should not surprise me there is such names as mistress mabel, Hanky Panky and striptease.

Well your young. But as you get older you will see how silky that statement was. But sadly to say the chances are your going to get it. Some of it not bad. Some of it will really mess you up and make you suffer. I have a friend with lung cancer. he has refuse all treatment and he will be gone in a few more months. We had a close group of friends in the Elks Lodge here. About 12 or 15 couples. There is about 4 couples left alive. And nearly all of us have had cancer. I had prostrate this spring. If it was to come back somewhere else I would do exactly what my friend did. I know how grave Stacy Kings situation is . His cancer is on the move. If its destine to take him out I hope it does it quickly.
Well I certainly do not measure up to well to the reading and writing crap. But as my T Shirt say I am so old I can LAUGH, COUGH, PEE, SNEEZE & FART all at the same time. Bet you whipper snappers cant do that
I am glad to see Fins that you jave learned something in my short stay on this forum. I can read it perfectly.
Then there is sign language. We have not touched on that yet.
Ness that was when you was in the 8th grade now the glovers are all off on grammar. some people speak perfectly other do not. In our society now days there are so many variation I guess just best to understand the meaning. I never did like the very formal artificial stuff that makes you feel like your talking to a robot. I call that yuppie yipping. I do not even like to be around them.
I wish they were. The big females. return to the deep haunts that I get them out of. I am sure I would be have seen some females. I usually start catching my first 5lber around this time. Kind of keep in mind the surface temperature is not the important thing it is the temperature in the selected spawning area.
This is how its. been of late.---- I only fish the evenings right now. I go out sometime between 6-7. last week I went out 4 times in that period. I caught bass for most of that time at 6- 10 ft on plastic worms. I caught 15 keeper largest a big male just short of 18" . That was in a period of 9-12 hours fishing. This week it has slowed down considerably. I am only getting 1-2 keepers a evening and they are
hitting at pink up time for a very period. Had I seen any beds I would have stopped fishing for them. Also there was not one beat up tail on any that I caught. hat is a dead give away that spawning is in progress.
CONORSIXTAKC------- The reason I do not fish for them is I have take them off beds in the past and watch the hordes of bluegill race in there and devour the eggs. That I do not think is good.
Bass are not spawning are building beds yet in the in the mid. gravois. The water is clear as I have ever seen it. when they do you will be lucky to see any evidence of it around here. I have a couple have been hanging in the back of my dock like they want to start beds. mostly they are under the rear corners 5-6. ft deep.It is not far fetched to think they would spawn deep as clear as this water is. I kind of hope so I do not support taking bass off beds even catch and release.
Goggle-eyed. How clear is that water down by tour place. I put a 1/8oz white jig on a line and dropped it down and it was still easy to see at a measured 8 ft. I am headed into Wrenchs country tomorrow. It os suppose to be a dingy up he told me the other day.
Chief it is not a Texas rig. It is just rigged Texas style. It is just something else it is no better are worse than any other method at has to be used at the right time and in the right way. There are far too many ways and variations to even start mention. 90% of using plastic is in the hands skill level of using things like plastic worms.
I do not think there is a state Chief that are has banned semi automatic weapons. I do not think it would be possible you would be cutting the legs off the recreational hunters. Are you sure your not getting magazine capacities and that sort of thing in there.
Anytime hours out there in tournament hours. Your not out in the prime bite period. It tales a lot of skill and deep concentration to catch fish consistently in those times. No matter what size they are.
I think they are spawing some place sand about done others. I can see the bottom very clearly around here wrench at like I said a measured 8 ft. My neighbor has been out on his dock every evening going for the females and they sure are not in a mood to rise if they are there. A couple other neighbors that do a lot of crappie fishing think they are coming to the end of it. Would hot surprise me in the least. I still have those two bass hanging around in specific areas on the back of my dock So I am wondering if they are not getting sort of horny and about ready to fan. It looks like one has cleared a small spot he hangs very close to.
I will go to catfish with my spoons as son as the bass go on beds for awhile till they stop and go deep.
