  1. I've got an open back seat on Sunday if anyone wants to fish or knows of anyone. I'll put in at mill creek or state park I'm sure. Text me 417-300-9872 because I don't check this every day.
  2. Sorry about the late reply but it had a big silver willow leave and a small gold willow leave. It's all I had at the time but i think a Colorado could have faired a little better with the water being dirty.
  3. Put in at aunts around 7:15. Fished everything from steep rock banks to pea gravel with warts, jerk baits and tubes/Ned. About 11:00 With all the shad die off I decided to throw on a white/purple 1/2oz war eagle. Slow rolling sitting in about 16fow and casting as far ahead as I could while still hitting the bank. Ended up picking up a nice K and two big fat smallies. All were in about 4ft. Not quite the day I was expecting but just goes to show what confidence in a bait will do. Water temps were 45.5-48 by about 12:45 when we left.
  4. Just like John Rockefeller said when someone asked him how much money was enough. "Just a little bit more". Truth be told I don't have a lot of rods. I have probably 6 bait casters and 4 spinning setups. I usually keep one on deck for a spinnerbait, a crankbait, a jig, a top water, a tube/finesse, a fluke, and during the summer a fly rid for panfish if it gets slow.
  5. A buddy and I went on 1-25 and caught one just up from cooper creek that was hard to tell. It was around 15 inches and almost went into the live well. I did however clean one nice rainbow only to find a 10 inch Berkley powerworm in its stomach! Wierd.
  6. I picked up about 15 terminators new in packages last year for $2 a piece and had good luck with them as far as durability and catching. I like using whatever I can get at Wal-nuts. That way if I need something I can always find one. I also like to make my own stuff from the barlows catalog.
  7. I'm a risk taker but only when it's not dangerous.... I work in Branson so can go about anytime I want.
  8. Well, looks like someone had a plan for me. I got around and the trailer had a flat and my main power switch has a short in it and wouldn't come on. I took this as a sign and left the boat home. Wouldn't you figure, the boat just goes out if warranty and things start breaking....
  9. Thinking of going out tomorrow for a spell later in the morning. If anyone lives near Branson and wants to go let me know. I have something to do at 0830 and not sure how long it will last (may be 10 mins or 3 hours). I will put in at state park. I figured with the front moving in tomorrow night it might be fun to try a wart or jerk bait at first.
  10. I love me some big fat football shaped Kentuckys! My dad has a 6-01 spot mounted from the late 80s, man I bet that was a fight!
  11. I have been the worst about wearing carhartts in the past but scared me to death. I found a set of 100mph bibs floating this spring. Once I made sure nobody was in there I shook then out and took them home and look forward to trying them out. I usually like my frogtoggs for the rain.
  12. Talk about sportsmanship!
  13. While I have never spent $60 on a lure or even $10 for that matter, I have killed a few. The confidence loss is the killer. I had a wart this spring that I killed them on and boated a ton of fish and several in the 4-6lb range. I lost it prefishing a tournament and lost my mojo all spring. Granted I bought several more identical but none quite the same... Farewell wart, your work here is done...
  14. I'm not with the mshp or water patrol. Just had the opportunity to work with a few of the water patrol guys in my day to day activities. I'm just a lowly street officer. ?
  15. I get it. It's always on my heart "what would happen of I got a $100 ticket". It would put a dent in the budget for sure. That's why I very seldom write tickets other than insurance and seatbelts unless there is something more like a dwi. Then those guys get every single one I can write. That is where I become a butthole. Typically the only time I harass a law abiding citizen is when they are pulling out moonshine beach or state park marina and I'm pimping for fishing info. I'll always stop and chat with those guys and let them know that I am an avid fisherman and try to keep an eye out for their stuff.
  16. I invite you to come and ride and see what exactly it is that I do. I put everything I have into a case and sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't. To say there wouldn't be an investigation is an all out lie. If you go to jail for child support then that's on the judge that issues the warrant or your license being suspended, not us. I love the citizens of our town and most love us. When I say citizen I mean good, everyday people who don't leech off of society. Oh and I guess I forgot to sign up with the local attorney and bondsman to get my cut. The only extra dime we get for an arrest or ticket is overtime or court. Which let's face it, court always falls on my day off so I typically have to skip a day of fishing to go. But my offer stands, come ride (or anyone else here). At the end of the day we will all still be friends with a common interest in fishing. Maybe that's why we are all so grumpy. Because it's too dang cold to go and the rock is flooded.
  17. I fully understand that folks are human and make mistakes. A lot of the same stupid mistakes I made/still make and I don't hold it against anybody. I stop hundreds of cars per year and write hundreds of tickets. But wait, I can count on one hand the number of major traffic offenses I've written to normal everyday citizens. Majority of my tickets come from dwi's or other criminal offenses. We stop a lot of cars as a deterrence and apprehension tool. I've already taken several drunk drivers off the streets this year. But you don't need cops, you would rather call when a drunk kills one of your kids. Your last comment clearly demonstrates your ignorance and character.
  18. Obviously I don't know all of the water patrol guys but being an Officer I personally know three and they are all stand up guys who are squared away. No matter if you love them or hate them, let's all remember they are human and legitimately are concerned for boater safety.
  19. A buddy and I decided to give Taneycomo a try yesterday, having only fished it twice before. We put in at cooper creek around 9:30. Went up to about the tennis courts but there was way to much current for me and the minimal amout of knowledge and trout gear I have. Drifted on down towards cooper creek again and started getting into them on the shallow sides. Caught most of our fish on either a minnow color small jerk bait or chartreuse rooster tail. We had a TON of big followers and caught a lot of fish. Most of what we caught were in the 12-16 inch range with one short brown. Being a diehard bass guy it is a little strange for me to drift fish or fish in the middle of the lake. We also caught a small largemouth just below cooper creek on the flat side. I had no idea they would be that high up.
  20. Maybe for 100 yards around the bridge that goes over flat creek to no avail. Didn't have anything in my boxes that I thought looked apealing.
  21. Launched at Bridgeport at 0830. Fished from Flat Creek to Cape Fair. Fish were all over the place and not consistent but the best bite was on medium grade banks with some bigger rock and not a ton of brush. I kept the boat in about 14-16fow and pounded the banks with spinner baits. Fished every combo from white/gold to grey/silver to solid chart. Didn't seem to matter much as the fish seemed to be concentrated when I did find them and bit whatever spinner I threw. My boating partner caught several dinks on a green tube. Best 5 would go 10ish. Starting to see a ton of bluegill up in the 1-2ft range also. Surface temp was from 70 to 73.5. Dirty and milky.
  22. We also had a decent day on Monday 4-6-15. Started out in mill creek and didn't have much luck early. Once the wind picked up we caught a few on points on craw colored warts. Tried a white spinnerbait without any luck. Only boated 6 with 4 keepers. Biggest was around 6 lbs.
  23. I heard I can enter online but I'm not seeing anything about that on here or I am missing it. I will be working until 6 am and don't know if I will have enough time to get there to enter up early. Thanks for any input.
  24. This was a great tournament btw. Had a ton of boats, $8,000.00 was donated to charites. It was the Cops for kids and there is talk of next year opening it up to the general public, not just public safety fields.
  25. To answer your question rather than probe you for keeping a legal fish, use a texas rigged black or dark colored craw type bait or even brush hog. Also a black spinnerbait with a single Colorado blade slow rolling works well.
