  1. Finally picked up the new Cat.  Can't wait to break her in.  Glad to hear you had a good trip with Dave, I know you guys were fishing in my neck of the woods since he rarely leaves Schooner and Fisher Creeks.  Gonna break her in this weekend.  If you ever want to hit the rock, just give me a shout.  I am always looking for a reason to head south.

I hope you love your BassCat as much as I love mine.

I always thought TR was a lot like Bull, but that area isn't like anything I have fished in Bull. Lots flatter. Maybe some areas in Big Creek. I'll have to look more at it.

It was a tough day which was made worse by knowing we where on fish and could not make them ea.

      Happens.

Thanks for the invite. First time I have fished TR in 3 or so years.

  2. How To Lose Friends and Alienate People? I think he went to the wrong course.
  3. Redbud's bloom first, and Dogwoods bloom afterward.
  4. I went out with Beck Sunday afternoon to get an education setting up my Gen3's on the new boat. After we played with the computer, we did some chunking and winding. In my 40 some odd years on this pond I have never seen the water stay this dirty for this length of time, I've fished cleaner water on the Deepwater arm of Truman. We did manage to catch a couple good ones. I sure hope they dump Beaver soon to flush this garbage out of here.
  5. No matter what bait you are throwing, there is a great topwater bite going on right now. The trick is figuring out how they want it. I went out last Sunday morning and caught 11 fish by 11:00 am. , 5 that measured. I was just chucking an ol' Pop R. The big brownies were tearing it up. I know the whopper plopper will work, but so will a bunch of other baits.
  6. Fished as a co for the first time in a big time derby. What a great experience it was, but I learned quickly that I was going to fish used and abused water. So, I changed my mindset to absorb as much information as I could. Both the pro's I drew were extremely nice young men and on the bubble to qualify for the elites next year. Thursday was a good numbers day but no size, countless 14 1/2 inch fish. Both he and I wound up with one keep. We definitely didn't target the bite I had been on in previous days, but there were fish on his stuff. Friday I knew right out of the gate I would have little water to fish as he was running and gunning specific targets he had waypointed in practice. He was on the same pattern the top 12 guys were on and he ended up getting his largemouth limit by 3pm. I tried to capitalize on the opportunities I had but ended up losing one in a brush pile on a jig and another came unbuttoned on a crankbait, The fish were keying on gizzard shad shallow but they were few and far between, I went out Sunday morning and ran his pattern on different locations and caught 5 before 11 o'clock. What a difference having control of the front of the boat makes. I doubt I will ever do the co thing again, but what a great experience it was.
  7. http://www.scout.com/outdoors/wired2fish/story/1469107-boss-brent-ehrler-shakey-head I've had the best luck with this one. 3/16 is what I use the most, I'll go to an 1/8 in the Spring.
  8. I've been running a G3 HP 200 since 2005. It's been a great boat. I might sell the old girl this winter.
  9. All Largie Refugees are welcome in a small cove between Point 7 and 8. As long as they don't wage Jihad on the smallies and the spots.
  10. Love those brown fish, great report KDC. I will be down in a week to try and figure them out. Gotta put some teal in the freezer first.
  11. We usually fill up a bunch of water bottles out of the lake and put them in the deep freeze. I add a couple as needed throughout the day/night. I am also running an oxygenator and throw in some catch and release additive. Hydrogen peroxide works as well.
  12. I'll just leave this right here...
  13. We are still on for Sunday. Long Shoal Marina, takeoff is 6am.
  14. If I can get on my darn dock, the boy and I are gonna beat the bushes in the morning. I'm gonna have to rotate the tires on the walk way since they have about 6,000 miles of up and down the bank this year.
  15. I agree totally, I have witnessed the "catch up" game many times. Since a very small percentage of people actually turn their athleticism into a life sustaining career, I believe the importance of sports is to teach children how to transition into everyday life. Overcoming adversity, success, failure, problem solving, and just being a decent human being. We all answer to someone sooner or later, how we choose to interact is up to us. If we can positively reach a few kids its totally worth it.
  16. Coaching wrestling for 10 yrs was enough for me dealing with helicopter parents. But I must say, that it exposes you very fast and weeds out the ones who don't work for success. I had plenty of negative interaction with parents, but it was short lived. Not only do you lose, but it hurts physically when you lose. I could tell right away if a kid was going to succeed in life just by their mental and physical attitude. I guess that is why more schools are doing away with wrestling programs. We can't have that neanderthal sh*t going on here!
  17. Oh, I have seen Nessie swimming at the resort next door to us, several times.....
  18. http://www.swl-wc.usace.army.mil/pages/data/tabular/htm/tabrock.htm You can follow the lake level and tail water by the hour here.
  19. This is why I turn into a vampire and go nocturnal after Memorial Day. It's a complete waste of time since fish don't bite after dark.............
  20. I've got two guns, one for each of you!
  21. Now if every ramp came with a shovel troll to keep things moving along.
  22. If you frequent ramps long enough, you will see it all. My all time favorite was a couple loading up a new Cobalt. He was yelling at her to back the truck down further and she was yelling at him out the window. She couldn't hear him, so she jumped out to talk to him, left it in reverse, and deep six'd the ol' Suburban. The yelling turned into screaming and crying. Bad deal.
  23. Man I love chucking big ol worms. We used to smoke some hammerheads up at Smithville in the late 80's early 90's swimming a 10" Purple Fiesta ribbontail through the grass on main lake points. They have always been a good night time bait on Table Rock, especially when the fish are in the cedars.
  24. Shirt idea for the OAF derby next March. The knifer's can cut the sides off before they weigh their fish.
