I'll take some up close pics in a bit Phil

I found this old Taneycomo map on ebay a few months back, the wife snuck it out of the house and had it professionally framed for my man cave. Great way to return home from Taney this past week. Also when cleaning out the boat I found these scuds and other kinds of bugs in my livewell and even had dead scuds all over my boat deck. Crazy healthy lake right now!

Lilley's Lake Taneycomo fishing report, September 11
Travis Swift replied to Phil Lilley's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
There was 5 shocking boats go by, it was cool to see! Then I got up to use the little boys room and looked out at 2:30 and they were headed back home. Thanks to those folks for all the hard work, they worked right thru a pretty good rainstorm last night doing that. -

Yup just a mini jig basically.
-
#1 bait has been the micro with an orange head and either sculpin/peach or sculpin/amber. When the sun gets up sculpin/wine and straight sculpin have been our best color micros. Hope that helps ya! 1/80th is what I pour and tie

Man what a beautiful day weather wise! This morning short creek was way tougher for us. Caught our limit for dinner in an hour or so and a bonus walleye that ate a Micro jig and 2 pound test. Got those cleaned up for another fish fry tonight and went to the trophy area for some catch and release fun and that we did! Atleast 60 or 70 between the two boats almost all on micro jigs, they are really out fishing the midge for some reason for us anyhow. Headed back out after lunch for hopefully a fun evening bite again. We do it up right food wise on this trip

Went back this evening, poured on us. Not as many fish, probably 25 or 30 in our boat but the quality was there. Had several more 18 inch class fish. No need to worry about oxygen levels, these are some of the hardest fighting fish I've ever caught here and I come alot!

This morning early was a tad slower but still managed 40 or so in my boat below fall creek. Came back and took a break and headed for the trophy area knowing rain was coming. Chatted with Phil a min and he said he was doing good on midges. When the rain hit it got awesome. We threw micro jigs that I make and regular jigs and boated atleast 60 more with alot of them over 15 inches. I caught a 19 3/4 that was almost 4 pounds on a fly rod this morning, that was a blast! So far today our boat alone is well over 100...kinda fun fishing water off again!

He was side ways in there (narrows) today with the water off and knew darn well I had to be in the channel to get by him, I literally had to idle by him with a foot to spare between the boats and he wouldn't even look me in the eye. I was ready for him if he said anything but he didn't. Every other guide on this lake is great but him...... I'm not a fan what so ever

First morning of our trip found the water off but we had anticipated that. Two boats of us threw micro jigs below the restricted area this morning and had probably 60 or 70. Pretty nice morning. Back for a break and will hit is again here in a bit

One last quick trip for a while...
Travis Swift replied to JestersHK's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
good luck to both of you, we are coming next week after the crowds clear, save some for us. Safe travels can't wait to see your pictures and reports. -
The guy said he tried to revive it for 2 hours and the hatchery staff even came and took it up to their tanks to try and revive it. Interesting also another guy commented that his buddy caught the same fish two days prior as well.

Trout lures that can be used between TRD and Fall Creek
Travis Swift replied to Joe_KC's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
marabou jigs are your best bet. you can also throw small spoons legally like a cleo or spin a lure. Jerkbaits both thrown straight and jerked back as well as small ones drug on the bottom with a small Carolina rig work as well. Lastly a #12 scud fly on a drift rig will work great also. But if you just had one bait to use get you some marabou jigs in natural type colors and some with some orange or peach in them and go at it, that is as simple as it gets. 4 pound line will work but you'll get alot more bites with 2 pound . Good luck and send us a report. -
All I meant by look at the tail was that it was a huge tail and was thick all the way to the tail. Just a huge fish.

A friend of mine found a big dead brown this afternoon that was 30+ pounds. Hate to see it, look at the tale on that fish. Been awhile since we've seen a really big one show up, figured I would share.

wish i would of bought your boat just for the motor sometimes. I love mine but man i wish i had that motor buddy

I have no idea what you drive, what your financial situation is etc but if your that close to Taney you really should save up and buy a boat if you can. If you look hard you could find a perfect Taney boat for $2500. Something 16 to 17 ft long with a 25 to 75 hp motor would serve you perfect there and you could see a ton more lake and fish all the conditions she likes to throw at us. Hope your week gets better man!
