This world needs alot more Marty's!

I haven't answered because I'm embarrassed about it. But honestly there was nothing and I mean nothing I could of done differently. Based off how it was hooked it was a foregone conclusion before it got in the net basically . I tried for over 30 Mins to help it to no avail. I did everything right in my eyes but it happens. Before anyone on here gets up in my grill about it please know that no one feels as bad about it as I do. I caught an even bigger one a couple years ago and successfully released it and even got it on an underwater camera which can be viewed on Trout Hollows website if anyone cares to see it. Sucks and basically ruined the experience for me. The rainbow was 25 inches and 8.2 pounds caught in the short creek area mid day full sun 106 heat index.. Go figure? Bass.. One close to 7 the other 6.5 down lake obviously. Brown was 19 inches at dark in the Branson Landing area, caught 3 nice browns that night.

Ummm hmmm been wanting to try something different at night instead of up top to see what would work...it did. We did good up there to but staying down here we fished it all the way back. Fun drift and alot of good fish along the way

2021 Annual MDC Lake Taneycomo Report
Travis Swift replied to Phil Lilley's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
My main take away is the fish are big and healthy (both species) and we are getting Triploid stockings every year which is really really exciting news! I think there are way more browns in the lake than the shocking report actually shows as August tends to find them a bit lower in the lake in my opinion, all you have to do is look at the trophy page on Lilleys and follow the resorts and guides on Facebook and you will see a lot of really nice browns caught with some frequency these days. All in all lets give Shane Bush a round of applause and a thank you as this fishery is in fantastic shape despite the enormous pressure from the covid crowd the last couple of years! -
Good report my friend. How did the jig and lighted indicator work for Blake? I've wondered about it for years but never found any lighted indicators that I thought would work
-
Usually Saturday thru Tuesday is light traffic and great. Course I spend most of that week on other areas of the lake but I will venture up there until Tuesday evening then I stay the heck away from that upper lake.
-
Tom I fish that week every year. The DO is usually fine then. Same things work then as they do the rest of the year just adjust with the water. JIgs, Megaworms, Scuds, Jerkbaits etc. I will say this much if your just looking for stockers there are a ton less in the lake that time of year so don't expect as many bites but there are good fish to be had especially in the trophy area then. It's a great week with low boat traffic the first part of the week at least. I will be down that week as well.

Anybody know where these are located now?

That's really interesting. Guess I had never heard of it either. -

There is a new guide on the lake that in his videos was advertising using liver on Taney. First I had heard of it and not entirely sure what I think of it, thought it weird for a guide to do so but to each their own. -
Week long reports while I’m here

Enchanted Waters tackle and flys

I'll play along Milo. I thought I had the biggest brown trout in the lake for awhile with my old zebco 33. Off the old Sun Valley Dock.. Miss that place terribly its where we grew up going on Vaca.
-
Yes I do Pete but she stayed parked in my garage all weekend unfortunately
-
Good thinking, one of these days we will be there at the same time and will meet up for a shake and howdy
-
Exactly why I quit coming this weekend. But I'm still jealous your there and I'm not Pete awesome browns by the way, man they are so thick and healthy. Future bodes well for them no doubt. Had a friend catch an incredibly thick beautiful rainbow the other day and it was no where near the trophy area, I'm talking miles away and it was almost 23 inches and super thick. The whole fishery is in amazing shape. Keep up the good work and keep posting pics buddy.

I saw him last year, he said he lives on the lake. Was a really nice guy although he about swamped 30 boats, he seemed oblivious but was so nice it was hard to be mad at him.

Lilley's Lake Taneycomo Fishing Report, May 14
Travis Swift replied to Phil Lilley's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
It will be interesting to see the numbers and strategy this year. The fish are biting great and they are big but if you went to the cable and caught fish by the time you measure and write them down your liable to be 100 or 200 yards away in that moving water. So it will be interesting to see if guys go down lake for stockers in slower water. Slow water means probably smaller fish, faster water means bigger fish but more of a pain to enter. Gonna be really interesting to see the strategy there this year. -
Saw a Big Brown last evening... I'm going after it
Travis Swift replied to Phil Lilley's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
How big is big Phil? sounds like a good spot for a big glide bait. Good Luck, hope you get him and we see pics! -
He's the best net man in the game I keep telling him 😁

Thanks for the kind words Phil. Maverickpro my best suggestion is to be flexible and move around. They like weed edges at times, docks at times, Bluffs at times etc. Sloughs can be good as well. I'm still learning them. I have bass fished for 40+ years and Taney bass are the hardest to figure out that I've ever fished and that's being honest. They move around a ton! My number one suggestion is if you catch one slow down because they always are in wolf packs and if you catch one there are always more around. Last suggestion is stealth... Pretend you are hunting, they are stupid spooky! They can be rewarding when you locate them though. Good luck to you and be safe and enjoy your trip.

My pleasure Phil, an active forum is a fun forum.
