  1. Cheif you and i should talk more often lol. I was only aware of the path the water took, i wasn't aware there were any holding in that small stretch. hmmmmm. makes me rethink driving all the way to RR this weekend.
  2. thanks for the advice Chief. As for the city stocking it was my assumption. i went to hickory 2 days in a row the first day the pool had no fish whatesoever. the next trout had been stocked but there were also five or six of those big goldfish and probably another five koi mixed in with the freshly stocked trout so that was my assumption. Plus the ones in clarks spring (big spring park) do wash thru town past caseys road and race, pass the jail, and on to hickory. so my info is all based on assumption.
  3. You just brought up my very next question Chief. I am aware of the Koi that the city puts in Morris park and the fact that the ones in the pond in big spring park eventually wash to hickory which eventually runs to shoal. So.....you've seen some koi Did you fish for carp out there Chief or did you just see them as you chased smallies?
  4. any specifics on where Chief? I was thinking the run between Neosho and Tipton ford looked promising especially at the limekiln access and out on old scenic. Yep definitely with flies Amery, i actually just tied a Algae Pattern. From my experience though i'm sure this fly would catch trout too though.
  5. I know this might put me in the doghouse with some people lol, but i was wanting to give carp fishing a serious go this year. Anybody know if Shoal has any?
  6. i just bought cabela's house brand (forgot the name) wf6i and i really love it. Personally i prefer it over my scientific anglers line. plus it was only 50 bucks.
  7. i caught a rainbow a couple of years ago that instead of a pink lateral it had a very obvious orange one, it was very odd and very very delicious. i'll look later and see if i can find a pic of it.
  8. does this tend to foul when you cast it?
  9. great ties as usual Marty, i really like the deer hair one. Hope to see some fish pics with these soon oh btw i sent you a Pm.
  10. (old thread but oh well) weirdest thing i caught a crappie was one of my very very early attempts at fly tying, it looked like a really crappy imitation of the ugliest cranefly larva ever to crawl from the depths of grand lake. It was tied way sloppy and way to big and made out of cat hair i pulled out of the carpet before i vacuumed. The amazing part is I outfished the other four people there (some using live minnows) as i was the only one to catch a crappie all day. (btw the exaggerations really aren't exaggerated at all, this is all 100% serious)
  11. What? Carp and gar arent beautiful? That sounds like some of those bs lies you were talking about, here's something to help you get that out of your head. Asian Norman Maclean try to ignore the naked guy......try. (not me in the pic!)
  12. yeah I do that to on Black Friday, between my wife and I we call it Brown Friday. If we are lucky I may get that day in, other than that though things look bleak.
  13. Anyone fish any yet? We just closed on a house on Halloween so we have and will be tied up until spring. (unfortunately )
