  1. Hey I have that fly! what time of night do you guys fish these, there are some 'pet trout' I have been studying here in town and after around 3:00am they don't bite anything. (even pellets).
  2. strange man, a couple of weeks ago I fished/floated elk and I hook (briefly) then lost around 20 fish. all I kept thinking all day was what they hell!? I had never hooked and lost that many fish before ever.
  3. I'm in Lancer.
  4. man that is awesome Trigg. It's funny, I just started coming up with my patterns to tie for next year and just stopped at trying to decide what cray pattern I wanted.
  5. hey Phil next time you release a big brown like that don't be afraid to release it up my way. hickory creek would be fine
  6. you don't waste them do you?
  7. that looks cool Jason, I will have to look into that.
  8. well that makes sense. maybe I should try adding that to other flies...
  9. lol yes I believe I could find that sort of thing interesting. What city is the North Fork near?
  10. thanks Flysmallie and Trigg, I will try this out. I just wonder why the videos I found of Todd's wiggle minnow didn't have nearly this action. also Flysmallie what is the mono loop for in that link from hatches? is it to prop that tail up or does it serve another purpose.
  11. hey guys, lately I have been looking at various wiggle and diver fly patterns, the few I have tied did either nothing or not really enough in the water to really get close to what I want, I found this video of a fly titled wiggle minnow but I can't figure out how the guy tied it or what gives it the action in the video. do any of you know a pattern that can do this action? also the actual wiggle minnow pattern I have seen has nowhere near this kind of movement in the water. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YD1Yy9hMqzs&list=PLInXk5--YE-RnUOywT3hBdFtq3hFEYVNl&index=144
  12. yeah i'm somewhere between the two phases myself right now, certainly more effective than dry fly fishing, for me. yeah I noticed that as the light gets low the trout either ignore the grey ghost or knock the crap out of it.
  13. thanks 2sheds I really appreciate this information.
  14. probably not 11 pt, nfow, current, to name a few I Know what current is but what are the other two?
  15. well that's to bad I was hoping to find a floatable trout stream. Do we have any in Missouri? The test in stealth might be interesting, I do have a 20 foot cane pole I haven't tried out yet....
  16. I haven't yet, but I have tied some up similar with partridge hackle and gold rib. I basically was considering them as hairs ears soft hackles. I tied two in gray and two in olive (which look great in olive btw). yeah I'm pretty sure it does call for it. I prefer the Grey Ghost myself and have caught a lot of trout with that, but lots more with other flies this year. my big ones this year have been Olive Matukas, Grey Ghost, Royal Coachman, and March Browns. As far as trout go these four flies are all I have used. ( and done well with judging by my freezer).
  17. thanks guys, the last time I was there Taney was very slack (not saying it will be when I go again), I know that early morning would NOT be safe at all. also wondering if it isn't allowed.
  18. Hey guys just a quick question, are float tubes allowed (and safe) on Taneycomo?
  19. hey guys my wife and I are wanting to explore new waters this summer. I know that crane is a blue ribbon area and have looked at Phil and Tim's map concerning the river, here are my questions though: 1. is the river floatable? (or at least parts of it. or is this a wade creek) 2. are the trout populations decent? 3. if the river can be floated how long would it take to get down to the bridge from the start of the mdc area?
  20. in the videos description it says "Don't struggle with a bubble". Honestly I don't see how this is any different than a bubble. Likewise I bet adding a length of fly line in your system would get nearly the same results. My method of fly fishing is far simpler and more effective than this, I just haven't figured out how to market it and make a million dollars yet.
  21. i find a pleasant charm in the older simpler patterns tied with simple materials (thread and feathers). They worked years ago and still work great today without over complicating things.
  22. lol darn and I really wanted to eat that Bass to. luckily being from Neosho also I recognize that spot to bad you didn't leave any fish in it.
  23. lol I doubt I could do the married wings, I have a lot of trouble keeping single wings together.
  24. nice man, I've got the day off tomorrow. Maybe I will check if you left me any..
