Big Bass Tour - KVD Big Bass Classic - April 8-10th

To me it looks like you were talking about my posts? So I'm not worth responding to? You really know how to go after someone personally to try to make them feel bad don't you? When you have posted as many fishing reports as I have on this forum. I'll listen to you then. Otherwise you have nothing of interest to me in your posts. -

I'm not your friend. I don't hate all tournaments, that's your attempt to voice a public negative opinion towards me because I brought up some concerns I had that you didn't like or want to address. I attacked no one . I heckled no one.I asked legitimate questions and expressed my freedom of speech. Sorry you had to talk to someone who doesn't like your tournaments. I'm happy to see you step up and make your case. Ty -

Your last 3 questions means you made no attempt to check my profile before posting. You sound like the type who judges people before you get to know them. The type who runs to the rescue to defend others on your side when there's a difference in opinions. The type who gets easily offended and has to make sure his voice is heard after by saying things that might hurt someone's feelings. I could go on about you ,,but there's no need really. I'm not that type. Very few anglers caught fish?? you saw the same tournament results I did, no? Did you see every fish that was caught and not weighed in?? Oil slicks, yes, evidently you've never seen what I'm talking about. Every gas motor boat that runs on the lake leaves an exhaust trail in the water. Minutes later depending on wind you can still see the slick trail, pollution. Lackluster approach? I don't even fish Table Rock, I just hate all large mega tournaments on any of lakes around me. I wonder how much stuff was stolen off docks and boats that week due to the excess number of people around?? If you don't like what I say thats fine. But to start off your comment by hatefully judging me, when having never met me,shows everybody YOUR personality TYPE. -
Do you even have a flipping stick in your boat Bill? π I'd be shocked if you did. I'd think the flipping pitching bite would be awesome with nobody pounding the shallow wood cover and rock shadows as a lot of anglers seem to have left the banks in search of offshore target fish. Dropping water and clear water doesn't make all the fish leave the bank . Falling water just exposes more/new cover to fish π, gin clear water just makes them want to hide in those places even more.

If there's 57Β°+ water somewhere in a spawning area I would say yes. Crappie usually start their spawn at 56ish and it peaks in the mid to upper 60's. So I assume it's safe to say it's just getting started.
-
I would expect an awesome flipping and pitching bite about to bust loose over there any day now.

Yep, you dodged the main points of my post. Just like I thought you would. Directed me to links that don't answer any of my questions.. See, when somebody asks questions and is concerned with what you are doing now you run away and say I'm not talking to you anymore ... how's that make you look? Weak Can't have a conversation or debate without a personal jab about me at a party either lol. Making negative assumptions about how I feel about other anglers is also a cheap shot and immature. All that just confirms my opinions even more. Maybe you should work on your communication skills if you're going the hold a professional tournament, because your terrible at it. -

I could care less about other tournaments around the country I don't live there... You limit the number of fish in live wells? Anglers live wells ??? How do you monitor that exactly? With 400+ boats are you checking every live well during the entire event ? How do you confirm every fish weighed in was caught from TR?? What's your practice to ensure there's no fish from other ponds or lakes weighed in at your event? I never said YOU handled fish improperly. It's some of the dopes who fish it who don't have a clue how to care for fish and with 400+ boats I'm sure there's a few dozen people who kill some fish due to that. Also there's all the additional motor pollution from oil and gasoline exhaust in the water. I bet the lake is covered with slicks right now. Ever seen a boat running down the lake and the greasy oily trail they leave behind them in the water?? They almost all do it. Another thing ,With all those boats there's always littering on the lake with trash. Do you have guys on the lake going around picking it up ? I just see too many reasons why I'd never fish any of your tournaments. Imagine how good the fishing might be if you never came back to TR?? I'm sure the mortality rate after you release fish is much higher than you think. Huge tournaments are just put on by greedy money grabbing companies imo. What's the reason for yours? What's your net profits off this one? I asked a lot of questions and I don't expect you to answer them . I've already formed an opinion. -

How many mishandled, sore lipped, gut hooked, relocated and dead fish is that? Nevermind that, the more boats the better ,right? Please don't ever come to Norfolk or Bull Shoals or Beaver. Stay where you are -
Typical MO weather here. Chance of Frost anytime until May usually. I'm going to throw a tarp over everything and put weights on it so the 40+ winds don't blow it away π²
-
Bull has been running 6-8 units daily and darn near around the clock too. Lake level has been about as stable as it can be moving up and down a just few inches at a time is all. The bass are scattered at so many depths and places now the current draw hasn't really played much into the bite I'm on. Im always finding the shad and fishing according to the weather conditions we're given. Water temp should be considered as well as the wind direction to find the shad. We had some strong south winds before this cold front and some coves that had wind blowing directly into them we're loaded with fish and shad.

Such Fat pigs!! Gobble guts haha Will be interesting to see in five years how many people have neck problems from looking down and staring at a screen for hours at a time while standing up fishing. I know my left hip is screwed from one legging it without a recessed tm foot pedal for decades π

Never got my load of dirt. Just been too wet to get any. Clock is ticking away so I just went ahead picked up some stuff to make my own mix. Made 55 gallons on Tuesday, and will make another 110 gal at a time next week when it warms up . Soil tested the first batch and it has everything a plant needs to thrive and a nice pH of 6.8. Pepper plants are around 8" tall now and I put them in 1/2gal pots and they will live there until the next transplant, and the tomato plants are just about 5",( slow growing because it's been chilly in the garage at night where I have them) and are still living in their little solo cups. Onions and lettuce are fine and growing good. Radishes just sprouted this week. Threw down some carrot seed about 4 days ago.

Fished 8:15-1pm.Got an earlier start this trip. Netted the first fish on the fifth cast of the morning. (1/24 oz jig and soft plastic) Then caught another 13" soon after but then the bite got really slow when the sun got high over the trees behind me and the very few clouds left. The water was very calm wind wise. Fished for almost 3 hours without a fish but I knew the crappie were probably still there because the shad were all around showing themselves earlier in the morning. It wasn't until the wind kicked up, like it was blowing the other day , and that got them biting again. Had heavier line this time and a stronger rod and only lost 2 fish. Caught 9 total. No giant ones this time. Have yet to catch a crappie under 12". Not 1 short Fish! (Same depths and pattern as before)
-
Yep, I've caught 1 3lb crappie ,and it was a 19" male. So a 16 1/4" female full of eggs would be pretty close.
-
They are trying to keep it down so far. Generation has been heavy around the clock for weeks .
-
It was very frustrating. Especially losing that one in the anchor rope it was way over 3 lbs because 3 years ago or so I got a 3lb crappie and the one I lost was a Lot Lot bigger. That 7' micro light rod I had with me just wasn't strong enough to handle it. I wasn't expecting to be fishing right in the thickest stuff I could find , I was planning on trolling the entire time but the wind wouldn't let me so I had to anchor up and fish in the junk.
-
Fished from 1-6 No electronics today so I dont know the water temperature. I caught 8 big ones π average size was big! but, I broke off 6 I never saw and were just as heavy π£. . Lost a personal best 3+ pound crappie when it got hung up in the anchor rope. π‘ Biggest crappie I've ever seen in 40+ years of fishing Bull.π€¬ I need to beef up my crappie gear. I was using ultra light and didn't have the rod or line power to turn these fish away from snags. Next time I'm using a medium power rod with 6 or 8lb braided line. Fish were buried up in the brush and you had to go in after them with your jig. It was bad, 6 times I got bit and they would just pull like a train and instantly wrap me up or I'd break my line just trying to to turn their head away from the cover. Makes me sick losing so many big fish ..The ones I got in the net were all males like these , no females. At times the wind was almost too strong. The fish were pretty deep still 10-15',and I could only get bit on a 1/24oz jig . Tried a 3/32 and 1/8 but they wouldn't eat em. This one measured 16 1/4" but looks shorter because of the camera angle makes his tail look stubby .β¬οΈ

WT 52-55 Fished 10-4. Caught lots of crappie and white bass, and a bunch of small bass. Crappie were in 8-12'. White bass were in 12-20'. Bass were very scattered and at many different depths and places. Best baits were crappie jigs, swimbaits, and jerkbaits .

My back yard is so used up after 4 years of planting in it. I'm trying to use more raised beds and containers this year. I will put some plants in the ground but the hole will be filled with good dirt not spent yard dirt . The ground around the house here is so hard cme summertime you can't even put a dent in it with a shovel and its full of rock. You can grow stuff in it but takes a lot of effort. This year it's gonna be easy, just water the beds and containers when needed . Top dress if/ when needed. It's a new experience so I'm excited to get started.
-
I put an order in for a truckload of river bottom dirt back in early February, still waiting for the bottoms to dry out so he can get the equipment in there to get it. Three snows and one rain and it's impossible to get it right now. Kinda wanted the beds and containers to already be filled and amended by now and the microbial life to get established before I plant in them.. π now they say we could get several inches rain next week, so it's gonna be another few weeks before I can get any dirt , dang. Went ahead and started the tomato plants inside this week. π I'm gonna have to sell a thousand pounds of tomatoes to cover my costs this year π 150lbs of worm castings was $150 , and I've seen it priced a lot lot higher than that. I picked up some manure free compost, azomite, marine biochar, kelp meal ,alfalfa meal, neem meal, crab meal, fish bone meal, feather meal, soybean meal, rock phosphorus, granular potash, zeolite , 4lbs of 3-10-0 granular nutes ,mychorrizae, and 4 lbs of 4-18-38 to mix with water if ever needed . Regular bag granular fertilizer like 12-12-12 was so expensive it was a bit cheaper to go with the organic sources of N-P-K. Made a few phone calls to "build a soil" and they helped me get started on building a living soil recipe they use on all their crops. So yeah all that including the worm stuff was around $475. Not bad but had to shop all over the USA to find the best prices. Didn't even buy a single item local stores were just crazy prices, ,well except the local dirt, which I don't have yet, was a really good price so he'll get paid whenever I get my dirt. .will be spending about $700-800 just to get started this year. Doing things entirely different this season . Good news is I'll have a Farmers market just down the street from me this year which means I'll save hundreds in gas money not having to drive 25-100 miles round trip every other weekend to the other markets. Gonna start some radishes and maybe some lettuce today. span widget

Ron and I fished the mid lake on Bull Shoals on Monday 2/21
Fish24/7 replied to Steve McBasser's topic in Lower Bull Shoals
Lake has been busy all winter even during the week. Everybody knows how good it's been .π Plenty of fish to go around for us all! There's been a lot of YouTube videos fishing bull shoals in the last couple years so lots of info out there to be learned. Bull really made a strong comeback since the lm bass virus . I remember back then if you caught 1 or 2 keepers a day it was a great day, night tourneys were won with 7-8 pounds. What a difference a few floods make and everything fell into place so get out and enjoy it whenever you can. Lots of prime spawning size black bass that will boost the population even more for the near future, those fish pics βοΈare what I'm talking about -

I was talking to some fellow Bull Shoals anglers last night and they all reported fantastic days in the last 3 weeks of February! From what I saw personally there was a crawfish spawn that had these fish really turned on. I was seeing crawdads everywhere I went while bank fishing. They were right by the bank walking around like they were looking for lovers haha. By middle March these craws will be carrying eggs. These anglers dont mind me sharing information because it's not really a secret how they do it. Its just basic bass fishing really. I don't know exactly where they were fishing on the lake either. The wiggle wart/cranking bite was really good early morning and on windy days , the shallow jig bite during sunny calm days was was very good I hear . If there was stained water the spinnerbait /swimbait bite was hot. All these people told me the bite was just awesome while the craws were active. As soon as this sleet melts I'm so ready to get back out there.
