  1. WT 54-55 653.57 noon to 5pm sunshine, light and variable winds. Went to Spring Creek. Found several craws out today shallow along the bank. A lot of them were long pincer "blue craws". Tried to "match the hatch." w/ my homemade jig ,and use a snail slow retrieve on the bottom in 8-10' while slowly drifting. Fishing was slow, but the bite was good. no short fish, they were all legal lmb.. all put back
  2. great report, nice kentucky bass !
  3. thank you Ham, great report
  4. all u need is deps 250 Doctor!
  5. WT 63-65 654.18 Fish deep or fish shallow , both bites are good! I picked shallow. Been going a couple times a week for the last month. Fishing shallow (15' or less). The same areas are producing week after week, but the lure choices varied based on the weather and the fish's mood. During overcast conditions a fluke and custom super spook got the nod. Well, Friday 11/7 ,they bit a chrome sexy 1/4 oz. red eye, a black/brown/red 5/16 jig w/ a craw, and a flash mob jr.w/ smoke grubs. The majority of blacks came on the jig and red eye. The whites and a couple nice spots bit the rig. Fished from 1:30-5:20pm ,caught 18 white bass and 14 blacks. Had 9 keeper lmb up to 17 3/4", and 2 15" kentuckies. Everything was released. The wind was a major factor yesterday positioning the fish on/near points and bluff ends..
  6. neat, I like it
  7. beautiful specimen!
  8. Tres Shad
  9. interested in unique, custom painted , and handmade lures? send me a pm
  10. yep, next years spawn
  11. geez, do we really need another 4-5" minnow lure on the market? when will it stop, lol
  12. ya'll might be missing out on a feast by running away from the bait J, have you ever tried the ol' paddle and pool cue ?
  13. Dewayne, maybe try those stinger hooks for spoons instead of a treble, that might help keep em hooked up. They make crippled herrings too w/ just a single hook , no treble +1 for the Lapoint spoon
  14. wanted to do the same float sometime . Let me know how it went, thanks
  15. I also learned from my grandfather how to do this Oct. flathead bite is on, saw a 37, a 43, and several 20's caught this month Gotta love Fall catfish'n ! the 37 was released , the rest went in the deep fryer and fed 16 people, yum
  16. forgot to ask, are you losing those fish when they jump ? I know some anglers use spinning gear and it works for them
  17. all I can really suggest is try a shorter rod and see if that helps w/ the landing ratio. ever tried a pistol grip rod for jigging?
  18. what's the rod length and action/power,line size and type, hook size ,ect.? we'll start there.. my spoon set up for vertical jigging 1/2-1oz lures is a high strain 5'6"mh baitcasting rod w/ 10lb fluorocarbon on a 6:1 or 6:3 reel. Hooks, I use an ewg treble when bass fishing, and round bend hooks for fish that don't jump. I use a smaller, stronger hook vs a bigger light wired hook. Red ,bronze or silver , no black hooks.
  19. Does anyone use them for bass in the Fall on TR? I only remember 1 or 2 posts in the last few years about them. why is this ?
  20. t's w/ many prizes and lots of food are drawing lots of boats/anglers. WRVEC Hooked On Education on BS Record attendance this year, 134 boats. First place took home $2,000. There's been talk of putting a 150 boat max limit for 2015 but I'm not 100% for sure. Each of the fishermen received a very nice gift at registration. They returned in the afternoon for grilled hamburgers and hot dogs, and the chance to win an assortment of prizes including rods, reels, tackle, power tools, Bass Pro gift cards and more! The winners, including first through 15th place, took home 70 percent payback in prize money.
  21. Mike was the only angler throwing a chart, pink and purple rat, lol?!
  22. If you and your wife are looking for multi species and lots of bites it's really hard to beat Bobby Garland swimming minnows rigged on 1/16 or 1/8oz. jigheads w/ small light wire hooks fished on light line w/ spinning gear. Before he passed Bobby and I fished together now and then, and I sold thousands of his minnows for him. His plastics (now made by Gene Larew) are the "go to " baits for most panfish anglers in Stone,Taney, and Ozark counties, but they will catch bass and other species too. Jig them under the boat vertically or cast and reel slowly. good luck
  23. Is your current seat on a tilting base/pedestal? Might help some if it is.
