  1. Preach it brother, preach it. Not offended and I agree wholeheartedly. That and the tournaments on rivers gotta go.
  2. They put 4 more detectives on the case.
  3. great footage. shows the first shot of brown water coming in upstream and then subtle rise followed by total blow out finale with green limbs coming down with all the other flotsam and detritus.
  4. Chesterfield valley development. Take a look at THAT short memory. I predict that sucker, no matter what the corp says with their new fangled 500 yr flood levies . . . they're building similiar levies all up and down the Missouri river flood funnel waterslide. . . and I predict it won't make it 20 years. I will laugh my butt off when that Polo Ralph Lauren outlet sign is 6 feet under.
  5. That sums it up perfectly. Great post. Cell phone, car alarm key fob, and if you absolutely have to have it for the parking lot (i don't, even in Brenthood) get your wussie-self a can of mace. Go ahead and continue to believe that there are bad guys lurking around every corner or gravel bar (ha!) and then realize that you, yourself have become a victim of the very "press" that you seem so much to despise. The gun crowd is looney-tooney these days. Its really very simple . . . .would our society be better off with MORE guns, or LESS guns. (?) Look in the mirror and ask yourself the question and then go listen to the NRA's industry-bought-and paid-for spokesman's PIFFLE.
  6. Shazzam. What a nice fish.
  7. Nice report SB. Way to help a youngster out, get him out of the waste-land that organized youth sports have become these days, and broaden his horizons with something much more meaningful and let him chase his true passion. I got you beat with 44 nieces and nephews.
  8. It really is that simple.
  9. Very nice. Verry, vera nice. Thanks for the pics. That last one looks like somewhere in the Alps. Cool pics of the cutts, too. Look at the orange on those gill plates and jaws! Love it. Tell those nieces to leave the poor dog out of the plyometrics yoga though. Poor thing looks terrified. And whats with the Hemingway hat you're wearing Al? Seriously?
  10. Seriously though - - - wouldn't you have to be pretty messed up or tripping on something yourself . . . . to try and argue or reason with a dude as crazy looking as that?
  11. That Crocker dude looks certifiably insane. Who in their right mind would try to argue with him when he is holding a gun? He looks a like a deranged, white-trash Coolio.
  12. What a grim story this is. Pretty chilling when you think about how popular that stretch of water (could be the most floated piece of river in the state) . . . . and is not some remote creek that is borderline floatable or in the gray area of navigability or any of that whole argument. I'm sure it will come out that this guy was tweaking on meth or just severely intoxicated and ready to snap on the next person that set foot on "his land". Pretty scary.
  13. great report. looking forward to the pictures of those cutts!
  14. Momma craw! cool. never seen one
  15. Accent B2
  16. Color me skeptical, Batman. Indeed, a nice fish. Coloring and body structure just doesn't look like any Big River beast I've caught though. I'm gonna go ahead and throw the BS flag. This one came out of of one of the Great Lakes me thinks. PD
  17. Here are my thoughts on the Bourb. Cesspool.
  18. Count me in. Not sure what to tie yet.
  19. Oh man that stings. Remind me to whomp your butt next time we share a campfire.
  20. Thats about sums it up. Its up to all of us to be the eyes and ears for the agents out there and report these clowns. And not just look the other way or have guilt feelings about being some kind of gnark. I think too many people these days just don't want to get involved on any level with reporting things. But as Gavin said, the average schmo floating down the river probably didn't think what he was doing was illegal. Poachers will always and forever be. I keep a laminated card in my wallet with all the local MDC agents phone #'s and of course the 1-800-392-1111 Operation game thief hotline.
  21. I'll 2nd the Mad River Legend 15. Its the exact same boat as my Dagger Reflection 15. Very versatile solo/tandem boat that doesn't feel twitchy at all like a lot of solo boats I've been in. And it has a low bow and stern. Lightweight. Not too wide, not too skinny. Perfect boat for my needs of fishing and gravel bar camping. But I will say its not a great tandem boat. Especially if your 2nd passenger weighs anything more than 170 lbs, or if you're freighting much gear with that 170 lb person, and then it starts to feel very twitchy. It reaches a certain freight limit and all bets are off. My Old Town Disco 158 doesn't have that issue, but it is quite a bit heavier. The 169 is a great boat, too, but good god they are heavy, and I've seen the bottoms on too many of those that are oil-canned. A buddy of mine has the Wenonah Aurora. Very nice boat. Front end is a bit high and it does catch wind, but its not a big deal most of the time. To float it solo, I think you could trim it out with putting more weight up front, like a cooler or some rocks.
  22. Enjoyed watching that, thank you. Looks like a good trip.
  23. Business trip found Paul Dallas Esquire in the general area of Hwy 60 yesterday afternoon and with a couple hours to burn, imagine my surprise when I discovered I had packed my 5 wt, my fly vest, wading boots and swim trunks -- the car then sorta just drove itself down the lonely Hwy 19 to the bridge where I fished for about an hour and got stood up. Water was up and pushy, but a beautiful deep green color. Tried various depths and flies with heavy weight, but no dice. I became enchanted by her difficult ways and playing hard to get, I could've danced all night, but alas, I had to drive on. There wasn't a soul around except for the campground host. Note to self - plan fishing trips in the summer during middle of week. Earlier in the day the car had driven itself to another creek full of wild trout and fishing had been so much easier. Caught 5 wild fish from 8-10 inches in just a few short minutes.
