  1. Good post, Ted. It really needs to be brought back. Its been underperforming for way too long . . and we've all sort've just accepted it. It really deserves to fish better than it has these last few years. I think that MDC making it a red-ribbon area gave them some leeway to just say, okay this is a dump stock river now, don't blame us if the fishing sucks 2 weeks after the truck leaves. It certainly isn't anything closely resembling a "trophy area" anymore. And 11 browns per mile? Doesn't surprise me. I haven't caught one out of there in years.
  2. Calling all units, calling all units. We have a self-righteous burglary in progress. At the corner of Hatchery Court and Blatherdouche. Perpetrator is armed with keyboard and trying to hard to make a point. Correct way to party SWAT van is enroute.
  3. Tucker casting there at the beginning reminded me of Hank Patterson, "snap it, snap it" Funny video, but I guess I would have to ask my kids what this Harlem Shake stuff is about. On second thought, maybe I shouldn't.
  4. Gavin - lets set it up for next year. I'm serious. Smalliebigs are you in? Ness? Mitch?
  5. Eh, its like Mardi Gras. Probably not for me either, but an interesting experience to try once anyway. Just to watch the people. Gavin once suggested an idea of going down there for the opener with a bunch of buddies . . . each of us all dressed up in some crazy costume. After some early morning cocktails . . . could you imagine Abraham Lincoln wearing his stovepipe hat wedges his elbows in between some way too serious fly-fishermen and starts chuckin cheese worms. Or dressed up as a gorilla in a full body suit, wade right out into the water in one of those really crowded holes and starting grunting and beating your chest at people as you snag their lines intentionally and acting like its their fault . . . Seems like the perfect atmosphere to really have some fun and just be a part of the insanity.
  6. I gotta do an opener some day. Looks like a hoot. Thanks for sharing this video.
  7. Ah-ha. Alright. Its a good teaser photo that made me read the report. I see how you are.
  8. Someone forgot to tell the shad? More like someone forget to photoshop the leaves off the trees, and dull the color of the green grass in that picture? Paul Dallas
  9. Very interesting. Thanks!
  10. Miller Brewing, thats who. They own Leinenkugels. Not a big fan of many of the Leinenkugel flavors. They tend to overdo it with the syrupy flavorant thats described on the label and underdo it on the malt body and hops. The result is Miller Genuine Draft with 2 droplets of whatever flavorant you chose. Blechh! If you want a good Kolsch . . . Schlafly makes a really nice one.
  11. Just ribbin ya, Al. At that age I would've taken it home and had it mounted too, if I had enough lawn-mowing money saved up to pay for it.
  12. He once claimed to have ridden a moped across the bottom of Stockton Lake. And divorced Tonya Harding because she wouldn't wear wooden clogs.
  13. Guide reports instantly draw my disdain, but Paul Dallas overruled and said this one is grand.
  14. Stop right there. You, you . . . you killed it??? say it isn't so, Al, say it isn't so.
  15. Al, Al, Al . . . no way that 2nd fish is 21.5 and 5 lbs. This is what I'm talking about . . . the 70's. When I think of the 70's I think of bell-bottoms, Nixon, and Opthamology still in the dark ages. Everything LOOKED bigger because we were all wearing coke bottles. C'mon. 21.5?? and 5 lbs??
  16. Dangit, I had a perfectly good thread hi-jack underway.
  17. Thats what I'm talking about. NICE fish for sure. And he's on foot either wade-fishing or got there by canoe or kayak. And the gravel looks very creekish. I respect this fish more than I do a hawg that is 4 or 5 inches longer that was dredged up from a well-know smallmouth sona-graphed spot at TR . . . or put on by a guide who has a name for each of his pet fish from a winter hole that he returns to visit time and time again, arriving by jet-boat without any sweat-equity or trial and failure on the part of the "client".
  18. Okay, I'm gonna go joeD on everyone here. 1. lake fish don't count 2. fish caught from a jet boat don't count 3. fish caught with the help of a guide don't count 4. fish outside of Missouri don't count, especially Canadian lake caught fish with the help of a guide from some kinda powerboat, which would be a violation of all 3 above. 5. grainy photos of fish from the 70's that were measured with suspect rulers, measuring tapes, scales or while under the influence of pot, peyote, mescaline, or shrooms . . .those don't count either, and especially if caught and photographed while wearing cut-off jeans shorts. discuss amongst yourselves.
  19. Didn't he do a column sometimes for the Springfield News-Leader and KC Star? Whatever happened to Charlie Farmer?
  20. 19 3/4
  21. Thanks for the report and glad you got to put the boat on finally. Its a fickle river, thats for sure. The odd trip that I do fairly well keeps me coming back just enough to swear that I'll never go back again, but then I always do. I bet the streamer bite could be really good, especially in the drifter, if you caught it when it was on a nice steady rise with the water slightly off color. Like tomorrow morning. Lets go!
  22. A buddy of mine who lives in my neighborhood ran an extension cord out to the tree that held one of his bird feeders. He stripped the wires on the end of it and wired it to the wire hanger for the feeder which is what the squirrels used to climb down to the feeder by. So he dug a shallow trench and buried this extension cord which was plugged in to an outside socket which he had hooked to a light switch in the kitchen. Many hours of fun he had zapping squirrels off the feeders, but he said they learned pretty quick to stay away from that tree.
  23. You're like a child that wanders into the conversation . . . .
  24. I told that puke down at the League Office that I don't roll on Shabbos!
  25. PM sent Justin. Been tryin to rang ya, but gettin a fast busy signal.
