  4. Tom hargroves would be my go to for stl ... Flycratft had an air of condescension hanging over the staff. Not very friendly. I went there due to recommendation of fly fishing the Ozarks... Great selections but not helpful
  5. This should not be allowed on mdc. My god that is ridiculous. Everyone should send their rep a complaint
  6. Hey would the over abundance of shad and scuds help increase sculpin population as well? I have had those little critters eat a minnow or wooly bugger .
  7. That red head is a fish getting son of a gun. Laker used that thing religiously. I happened on it by accident about ten years ago. It really gets it done on taney and bennett
  8. Really enjoyed ricks book. My son saw it last night and asked if I would read it to him again.
  9. It will happen eventually 😆. I will be down in october orend of September again this year and possibly have some time this summer.
  10. Fishing has always occupied a special place in my life. It has been the source of great joy and frustration during that time. The times you put a hurt on the fish and the times you're left scratching your head wondering what went wrong are some of the best memories I possess. Lately, in light of recent events, i have found myself realizing that every single outing provides myriad opportunity to learn. Most recently I spent several hours fishing for walleye ina river i have fished so many times. This time was different as I had never really targeted the walleye specifically before. I had limited time and limited resources for this put and was joined by someone with greater knowledge, time and resources. It was great to see how the system that he developed over a short period of time worked. I arrived before my buddy and had some bites but no fish. Upon his arrival he made one cast and was immediately rewarded with a plump member of the target species. In spite of my disappointment for no being the one to catch I was elated at the prospect of learning his technique which had so quickly enticed a fish. No one ever wants to be the guy who is getting smoked but ive learned that this is the best way to learn. I have also learned that if the person having success offers to assist you, you should accept the help and stop wasting time on prideful notions of figuring it out or not being a burden. Reflecting back over the years spent fishing my favorite waters with my favorite people I can say with great certainty that I learn every single outing. It is a constant state of affairs in angling that adjustments need to made and shifts in game plan should be welcomed as too make the best of every situation. This may seem about the most common sense as a person can think but it so often happens in our youth and stubbornness we think we know best and completely ignore these learning opportunities. If we all pool our knowledge and tactics in life we can achieve greatest success possible whether its on the stream or lake or in business and family. Try to remember next time your buddy is whacking them and he offers you his last jig head to take it and make it count. Ask questions and try your best to understand their approach so you don't squander and opportunity to learn a trick that you can apply across the board.
  11. 😆 no kidding
  12. Looks like I'm gonna pull the trigger on trip to little sac. Hopefully get into some fish. @Ryan Miloshewski may join me if water is not unfishable from the rains. Heard some interesting reports so hope to find a few.

  14. It was initially my desire to throw it at trout. But now i think pond largies will be my test subjects then maybe try it out on some smallies or trout.
  15. Been tooling around with this pattern for some time now and finally got it tuned in to a quick quality tie and fish catcher
  16. Glad you got to get out with your buddy! Hope you guys got a fish or two on crane as well
  17. Glad you guys made it safely in the rain DJ. Hope you put a hurt on them today. Over cast is always good !
  18. I heard from some folk that the bite as good up from orleans and below taylor as well. But This rain will make it difficult . high water is a pain on little sac. Catch it on the beginning of the rise and it can be magic but after its chocolate good luck. Id say end of March will be the best this year with temps dipping back down over the next five days

    Crane

Not this year but I know it blindfolded. Best bet is always wooly buggers and elk hair caddis. Caddis in 16 and wooly up 8 . there are a lot of stoneflies and crawfish. Scuds work well also . fish drop shot or euro style for numbers. Frenchie is go to for that method. Fish the bridge above the park on up and from the railroad bridge on down. People dont go there as much. Let us know how you do. Hit me up and I could join you and show you some prime spots
  22. I tie some bangtail t and a flies that look similar. Much more maribou and nothing but eyes and if resin. Ive been wanting to try them Ryan. Need to meet up sometime.
