  1. There was a brown of similar size and coloration that same area Saturday. He was chasing rainbows all over the outflow by the fish ladder.
  2. How did your photarium pics turn out?
  3. It was good to have a fishing buddy for my bday lol
  4. Had the chance to get down to taney before dawn Saturday and wet a fly line for a few hours. Had a buddy meet me down there too. I started be fore dawn at the outlet 3 staircase and hooked into a nice brown on a scud with a little split shot as they were running about 45 mw. Didnt see another bite until we move below the fish ladder along the grass. Here I hooked up with seven and landed 4 or five. It was slow but I think it will be picking up soon. Saw a lot of big browns flying out of the water and one that would've gone fifteen pounds chasing around some stockers at the outflow below the fish ladder. We also found a big dead brown or two. The largest went about eight pounds. Wonder if someone wore him out and he got away and died. Any way it was a good time and hopefully good practice for the return trip. Scuds were the main pattern that caught fish and put on a kitchen sink as a joke and landed one in some murky slack water. Orange if that's your thing. Most aggressive hook up came on a scud pheasant tail duo. Looked at the scud then inhaled the pheasant tail. Broke him off in the excitement. That 2lb leader I use tends to break when I over set the hook... I need to get out more.
  5. got down there before dawn Saturday and they were catching some nice fish at the outlets and I hooked into a nice brown but it came un buttoned. I think this fall is going to have a good number of fish caught at night.
  6. Taney stay lower but not too low ...

  7. Be down Saturday eArly to try and get a brown . Hopefully water stays low enough to wade some. Should be there before dawn so maybe we will get lucky!
  8. Thinking of hitting the trophy area Saturday before dawn in search of the brownies! hopefully water runs at lower unit output. Hate to drive all that way for nothing lol
  9. Nice work John! you had talked about doing this so I'm glad you got to get it done.
  10. the swarming midge hatch was really neat to capture on video. I ve never seen that many at one time!
  11. The yellow one is a cool looking mayfly as is the black one! Not sure what the brown one is though. It sure was neat to see them flying around they were very slow moving almost like floating in one place.
  12. Glad you got some good pictures! Sorry no monsters this time. We landed four or five small ones though. Also saw some big ones in a few holes that we couldn't get to. We will have to hit taney this fall for some brown trout . Thanks for posting the pictures John.
  13. Had the privilege of meeting forum member John Kelly today in crane !had a good day and hopefully he got some Good photos. I managed to land a few and it was fun having somebody along for the walk. Nice to meet you Jon and hope the pics turn out great!
  14. Awesome stuff man
  15. Those were the biggest. Caught about forty that were only eight to ten inches. Had one whale explode on an old stick bait I bought at a garage sale. Probably would've went four pounds. Biggest was 16 inches fat three pounds almost. But most were small.
  16. Hitting crane again tomorrow with a fellow fly angler. Hope the fish are active enough to get some good photos...

  17. Had another great day pond basin with the fly rod and with some stick baits. Froggy fly never gets old! We have been trying to reduce the population of this pond all summer but its just one after another. I find it quite enjoyable but we haven't even made a dent in the population so far. It did make for some good photos though.
  18. Nice I haven't been up there at all this summer. Glad to hear you got into some !
  19. oh heck yeah! thanks phil. I will be coming down hopefully beginning of October . Scuds were the weapon of choice last year but I may stop in and see what you have in your shop.
  20. like that top picture. very nice! Havent been to roaring river since spring.
  21. SO I have fished a brown run and I'm addicted . . . question is when do they start? I took a military buddy last year and we caught a ton of them and saw a guy catcha twenty three incher right befoe dawn. We went in October around the second week. I hope to go again this year and try at night so I don't have to wade through people. I figured they started moving in late September early October but I am not sure.
  22. here is a picture of a McLeod I caught Friday. This one was on the walk out up by the ball fields
  23. Nighthawk, I did a little of both but mostly upstream, in places where the water was moving quickly it didn't matter as much,. In the slower water I had to crouch and cast softly upstream. I have been fishing crane a lot lately from the railroad bridge down so I have a technique for each hole. The creek is dropping again so I had to find the fastest deepest spots to find aggressive fish. The big one were holding in clear deep pools but wouldn't take.
