OK, I'm in, Good idea and sure worth a try. I have no idea how it works but up for a challenge. By the lack of posts, we have all given up fishing so we may as well talk about it. I may have to call the kids to find out how it works. LOL. Is anybody catching anything?

Turkey sandwich with mayo, little salt on Texas toast while watching the Bears lose another game. Now there's a Sunday afternoon! In the boat, a sure way to get a strike is to reach into the sandwich bag and take that first bite. It had better be a good fish to mess up my sandwich!

Those look like they may be black crappie. Caught on cranks, nice. Bigger ones coming soon! I love October too!!!

Still a new guy but I've found most success with #7 size With some blue or red in it. I've had little luck with the larger size 9 or plain silver color. Have not done well with craw colors either. Again, just a new guy trolling just this year.

Back in PC again Monday morning. Started way in the back today. surface alive with shad but nothing eating them. finally caught a 10' spot and as 3# cat throwing grub into the balls. Trolled back to mouth. 3 rod set, BOOM! All 3 went off with drag pulling. Luck let me land 3-18" whites. Tried for 2 more hours to find them but no luck. Fish fry today. WT 67-69 Another beautiful morning on Beaver.

My 150 Merc 2 stroke is 10 years old and purrs like a kitten. But it sucks gas and on Beaver that can get expensive. When I do need a new motor, I hope OMC has used their new technology (G2) on a 150-175 size motor. Nothing smaller than 200hp now. I here the torque is awesome and it sips gas. They may have a 150hp out for 2016. I'd sure look into that.

Water temp could be lower but its dropping. I've used Beaver fever guides in the past. Enjoyed trip, caught some fish. 1/2 day trip seemed pricey at $400 but I was paying the whole thing. They go through lots of bait and work hard. Split 4 ways it seems more reasonable. Looking at their site, they seem to be on fish almost every day. JMO

Got out before sun-up and ran to PC. Pulled Flickers, shad raps, lazy Ikes, brooders. Cast spinner baits, spooks and redefins. Caught fish on everything! Everything too short except 2 white bass that were maybe a pound. 12-15 fish by Noon, beats nothing but I'd trade em' for 1 or 2 good bites. 8" spot on a full sized spook. Crazy. Watched a brace of deer get a drink and a fox too. Beautiful morning. Peace.

Sounds like a plan Stump. Had my buds from up north this past weekend and my hopes of some stripers crashed badly. Trolling PC on Sunday put enough eaters in the boat for a fry so Beaver's reputation is intact. My records from last year say PC should fill up with 3# whites this week. I hope they have the same calendar. Good luck!

Good for you! Great to be making a fishing buddy for life. Had a similar morning in PC too. (I'm sure we passed you a couple times, boat full of guys) 2wb, small striper, 4 spots, and 2 walleyes (just short) and a monster 14" crappie. Our bite seemed to die off around noon. Flicker shads and flicker minnow. We tried around the islands later but the wind was pretty stiff, so it was afternoon poker and football. good stuff.

Kinda a "funk" Plenty of times out, no "skunks" but really small fish compared to last year. High water? Who knows why. Also can't find a crappie anywhere. So no complaints, blessed to fish this wonderful lake when I want. Just a "funk". But falls comin'.

Champ, pretty good day on Beaver.

Cloudy day with a good chop. Walleyes right. Trolled cranks and crawlers past pt 10. Samo samo, 3 small spots, 3 15" walleyes, then bam..10# striper in front of Ventris. While I was bringing him in the screen was lit-up with stripers from 15 fow to 40 fow. Looked for them for an hour and gave up. But they're coming... WT 76

Well I hope you all did better than I did. 7:30 till noon. Worked Ventris. Main lake point 1st thing. 3 small spots on spook. Trolled flicker shads & flicker minnow all the way back. two more small spots, two big gills and a dandy 20" walleye. All hit the flicker minnow. Long morning with playing in the deep trees. Lost 4 baits. Gotta be a better way. Great morning but zero surface activity all the way to the end, almost no bait seen. Finally a cool morning on the water. Got hot, came in.

When we went out with him he answered very few calls during the charter. When we were booking etc he always called in the late evening.

I would also recommend Beaver Fever. Don has a real dry sense of humor and really works hard to find the fish.

We all know that ingesting plastics will kill fish. Does anyone know for certain what the outcome of fish eating Gulp is? Catching lots of bluegills now with gulp and plenty of it gets swallowed. I can read that it is biodegradable but does that include what fish eat?

Well I must have a cursed Plano box as my heads are from Dave. I think having a rig tied on but no more pre-rigging for me. Really thick crusty rust in the box with rust tabs in the box. Crazy. Thanks for the responses. Say MoPan,recent trip to Springfield BP to buy the exact St Croix rod you mentioned. Out of stock of course. Rod guy in the store turned me on to a Browning Lite with micro guides. I think the 6'6" M/L was about $100. Really nice rod. President reel, 6# Invizix works great. JMO

Ok, I'm a believer. Neds work well on Beaver too. So you glue the bait to the head so it won't come off. I rigged 4 about 2-3 weeks ago to be ready if I snagged one off. Well I did not lose any to snags but all were trashed as the salt ate through the hooks. I could snap the hooks with my fingers. Pre rig-don't pre rig? What's the deal?

As a new comer (2nd season) to Beaver I was very wrong in my ideas about the fishery. Yes, the Bass fishing is much tougher than I anticipated, and thank God for spots. I had experience with both Bull Shoals and Norfolk and would say the Bass fishing is better/easier. I've also been disappointed, missing a consistent Crappie bite. But, the walleyes and stripers, and big white bass more than make up for my mis-conceptions and overall I'm really pleased with the lakes production. As I learn the lake better, I'm sure the crappie knowledge and success will improve. I'm not sure why Table Rock and Bull Shoals seem to have better bass fishing with the same river system. I do envy the TR posts with 25 bass days being somewhat normal. I don't buy into the striper vs bass argument as Norfolk is a renowned Striper Lake too. There seems to be so much food in this lake that every fish should be fat and happy. I look forward to my bass catch to improve with experience but I did think I was a fair "stick" to begin with and thought bass are bass wherever they are. There just seem to be less of them (bass) in Beaver. Yes, I understand the offshore bass fishery but with so many crayfish and bluegill there should be a few more relating to the rocks. Sorry for the long winded comment but anything the AGFC can do to improve bass fishing, without hurting other species will be more than welcome by me. JMO

Decides to spend an evening casting and went to Coose Hollow about 5-8pm. WT still at 85. Cast poppers at docks and shoreline down the west side. Would up with 5 spots but none over 12". The bluegills were really aggresive along most of the shore til about 10' out. Usually hit popper before the first move. Also very hot on any plastic thrown. Wound up hooking 5 really nice ones just under 8". Ate em'. Bass all came from docks. Saw a surface bite about mid-cove in the middle but only lasted about 5 minutes and was over by the time I slow trolled over. Drop dead beautiful evening. Lake pretty quiet. Watched a fox along the shore for a long time and a beaver swam so close he splashed water in the boat when he finally spooked. Really a nice night.

God Bless you & your wife. My wife and I pray for you.

Not at all a general rant about pleasure boaters. Its their lake too. Too hot/busy to fish last 2 days but perfect time to clean boat and tinker. What I find interesting is the amount of pleasure boaters that think "No Wake" simply means coming off plane. As I sat in my moored/lift boat, I watched boat after boat come off plane and cruise by me at 1200 RPM making about as much wake as possible. Friendly folks all as most waved to me as their wake sent me to the seat and the dock rocked N rolled. Now that headroom has returned to the 12 bridge, so has the speed through the "No Wake" zone. Beautiful weekend enjoyed by all. Caught two cats in slip. School of 7" gills has left.

CRAAAAAAPPIEEEEEE!!!!!!! I SAW ONE ONCE LAST SPRING BUT DON'T REALLY REMEMBER WHAT THEY LOOK LIKE. I gotta learn the nighttime thing. Trolled Beaver Shores Tuesday & Wednesday evenings with samo samo results. Little spots, little walleyes, little whites. Did I say little? Felt like I had the whole lake to myself. What is going to be the first bite to improve with the cooler wt's?

Wow! There are still crappies in Beaver. Haven't seen one since May. And they seem hungry! I've tried to drag 4 different lures and it usually seems they like one over all the others. Lately the flicker mono has been hit more than the flicker shad but really too small a quantity to make a judgement. Good for you with some good eating' fish.
