  1. In no particular order Devils Advocate Wolf of Wall Street Dr. Strangelove Pride and Glory 3:10 to Yuma
  2. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Lunker_City_Ribster_Worm_10pk/descpage-LCRIBST.html#multiview This in both the 3' and standard work well on small jig worked similar to a Ned.
  3. Glad i'm not the only one who throws them every now and then. I usually have luck with the yellow and black in 1/8oz. The first time i took my wife fishing i tied a beetle spin on for her and she had a blast catching google eye. I also carry some of the older terminator inline spinners that Bill Dance used to promote. I think i've caught more catfish on those then bass lol
  4. And i actually do carry some beetle spins lol
  5. My parents actually bought me a banjo minnow kit for Christmas several years ago along with another kit for a lure called the button eye minnow. I never had luck with any of them so i gave them to a friend of mine and he swears by them both lol That being said the Ned rig like many finesse applications can and will catch a big bass but much like many other finesse set ups you will def. be catching a lot of the smaller fish. To some people who just enjoy catching smallies that's perfect. In the end the fishermen will use what works best for him and fits his style. I personally dont fish the Ned rig at all but who knows maybe i will some day.
  6. I think MSA is great. The dedication these men and women show is commendable. what they do is a benefit to anyone who enjoys fishing for smallmouth regardless if they are members of MSA or not, The fact that they get together for stream clean ups, angler education etc And all of this coming out of their time and money (As smalliebigs has already covered) When you consider that is a group of volunteers and the factors that come along with that i'd say they've done a lot of good and have had a very positive influence.
  7. I rarely do well in March when it comes to bass. The water temps have gotten to the point in a lot of bodies of water around here that the wiggle wart should do pretty well.
  8. Welcome to the forums! My family used to own property around stockton lake at one point. I had fished it when i was younger but its been a long time since i've been back.
  9. I'm no authority on it and i haven't done it in some time. When i do go i normally go with a buddy of mine who takes his boat on big river. It will be my first time out on jack fork this June so i'm not real sure how cat fishing is there.
  10. Every now and then i feel the need to chase another species around but once it's out of my system i'm spent!
  11. Welcome to the forums McCheez. I'll be down at jack fork this june so if you decide you'd like to drop by a little sooner then you have planned then let me know and we will throw some lines together.
  12. I can't really comment on the Ned as i have not fished it yet but i know it can be difficult to feel the bite on tubes. I very rarely "feel" and bite at all even with a good rod and line. How i fish the tube does help me a lot though. I very rarely have any slack in my line and i'm always moving the tube(very slowly) the slow movement and contact with the bottom is actually what helps me detect a fish. Its tough to describe the change in feel when you have a fish on but to me it goes from feeling cover on the bottom to just feeling like mush or pulling dead weight...its just different. I don't hesitate to set the hook when i feel the difference. Sometimes It's not a fish and i just snag some cover but a lot of the time i hook into a fish. It also helped me to use a little bit bigger tube. I was using 3 inch tubes when i first started and later switched to 3.5-3.75. This has not seemed to change the overall amount of fish i catch and it actually helps keep the sunfish away. I'm no tube expert as i just started fishing them hard about a year and half ago but those changes really helped me a lot. From reading some of the ned tactics it does look like people do drag them so it should be a little easier to detect the bite sooner that way. I'd only have a slight bow in the line to shake the bait. There's a lot of guys here who fish the ned heavily that should be able to give you some great tips on it. I hope the tube advice helps you out!
  13. Awesome day on the water and a great catch! Thanks for sharing.
  14. Good pictures and thanks for the report! I haven't heard talk about the magnum either good or bad. I think that is more to do with how well the original wiggle wart works.
  15. I haven't used that exact model but Lews makes a good product. I have several of their spinning reels as wells as a BB1 and have been pleased with all of them.
  16. It's been awhile since i got to watch a bass event. Ill be working this weekend but ill find a way to tune online and do my best to follow it.
  17. Have a look at some of fenwicks rods. The HMG and HMX rods are both around 89-99 dollars and are really nice for the money.
  18. This is probably the most awesome thing i've read in a very long time! Great story! I'm sure that little girl will always have a fond memory of that flight and what you did for her.
  19. eh i guess it's more of a branching out and just seeing what other people like to use out curiosity i guess. I agree the great lakes a very different then the lakes found in the ozarks. Share your big fish secrets Joe they will be safe with me. Is your secret throwing bubble gum colored lures?
  20. I tend to do well with tube jigs in the ozark streams that i fish. They are used to frequently in the great lakes as well as other large smallmouth lakes up north and tend to work very well. As for ponds i don't really know. I have used many brands of tubes and i haven't seemed to find one i don't like. The topic wasn't really to see what color is the most effective it was simply to reach out to other anglers and see what they like to use or what colors they have the most confidence in. As for the Ned rig i cant comment on if it reduces chances of catching a big smallmout as i haven't fished it but i like to learn about a new technique.
  21. Those look like they would work great with the bitsy tubes. I've been wanting to buy some of the 2.75 inch tubes but have had a tough time finding a jig i thought would fit them well.
  22. awesome catch! thanks for sharing that picture!
  23. i'd like to see those jig heads!
  24. i live not far from where lead tail mining dang near ruined big river a portion of big river (near leadwood). I was actually called a hippie because i joined a discussion about some history channel show about off road 4x4. They were airing a clip where the guys where literally driving straight up the middle of the stream. I guess i am one of those radicals that wants to protect the water ways and natural resources in general.
