Perhaps I missed it. But what is the horse power

Nice job hammer time

I finally made it to the lake. My main focus was going to try the rock crawler just to see, even though the water temp isn't really right just yet, i was also going to focus on the whopper plopper and the ned. I struck out on the Rock crawler. But did pretty decent on the ned, one almost 3lbs. With the ned i focused on main lake and secondary points until the wind picked up too much, then i moved to protected areas. In terms of size they were better on the whopper plopper. I didn't catch as many on it but they were all decent ones and I caught them starting at 4 until 5pm when I finally made myself commit. One decent spot and the rest were large mouths. (Nice to see)The biggest being about 3lbs. Ledge rock banks 3 to 10 fow. When they hit it, it was a freight train hit. I went with my 12 year old daughter who also caught a decent small mouth on a spinner bait. I'll be back out in the morning. I'll be in a John deere green champion if you see me, stop and say hi. Good luck to everyone.

And some people are just jealous of another man's success.

As long as the "small guys" (since we cant say midgets anymore, to maintain political correctness) can see over the steering wheel...Then I say 'Fish on!"

As they always say a bad day of fishing is better than a good day of work

Hi Mr. Babler, just curious. perhaps I missed it. But you promised (lol) to reveal your technique that you were using to catch'em. Again I may have missed the reveal. If I did I guess I may be s.o.l. but are you willing to give it up yet. Even if the time is no longer applicable to the specific technique, I'm always interested in reading/learning new things.

Hey Kdub, you got something against your right nut? Lol. Nice blue cat.

All this fishing and me not getting to do any is driving me insane. Kiddos are just too busy and my wife simply can't be in two places at the same time. At least it is bow season to help me keep my sanity. The only thing is all I think about is fishing. Such as now, here I am sitting in my tree stand and I am looking at the fishing forum. Good luck to all and thanks for the fine reading material. Oh yeah and great job Bo and Linda.

This is for those who struggle skipping docks. I did post this already on the bbb topic but thought I would just make a new post specific to this topic. If you are having trouble skipping docks here is a technique to help with those pesky back lashes. Take your bait caster with the jig you plan on using. 3/8 or 1/2 work best but when you get the hang of it you can easily skip a 3/4 as well. Make a cast about 30 to 40 feet and pull out some extra line if you want. Do this at home while your line is still dry. Then wrap your spool with a piece of black tape about an inch long. While reeling your lure in keep tension on the line as to get good adhesion to your spool line. This prevents underpin on your extra line eliminating such a deep back lash. Or You can just put about 30 to 40 feet of line on your reel if you would like. I just don't like this as it changes the reel ratio. Not only does the black tape trick work to help you with skipping, but it will also help teach a kid how to use a bit caster while eliminating those back lashes. Good luck and do lots of practice.

I apologize if this has already been suggested. But here is a little trick to do if you are practicing skipping docks to avoid a "deep backlash." Due to the fact that you are not making long cast while skipping, while you are home and your line is still dry, make a decent cast. Maybe 30- 40 feet or so. Then pull out a little bit of line if necessary. Then wrap your spool with black electrical tape. As you are reeling back in your line keep good pressure on your line to sink it into the black tape thus allowing better adhesion to the spool line. If you do back lash it does not take too long to get it out or if you have to cut it out your not losing too much line either. And then as with anything else practice practice practice. You'll get it. Good luck and I hope this helps some of you.

Question regarding subdivision ramp for public usage. Does this include "all" subdivision ramps? More specifically the ramp next to big cedar. If you pass the "wilderness club" and go just a little farther, there is a ramp. Several times I have been to big cedar. The guy at bent hook marina has told me to use that ramp but to just hurry up so no one at the community sees me. And to drive my boat back to bent hook docks and then park my truck on their property. This saves me from having to drive all the way around to thunder (whatever the name) of big cedars ramp is. Is there not any trespassing laws that would apply?

955 . There are basically two seasons when fish start to set up in the deeper water. That's summer and winter and I think I would typically put the Ned down at this time (Maybe, it's proven to me it's a wonderful lure.) Though this year has been a very unique year when we talk about table rock bass sitting up in the deeper water. However, When they start the deep pattern is when I will start hitting the docks with the spoon. Not only are docks great spoon locations, but I have several bluff walls and bluff ends that I really hit with spoons. When the fish are on the spoon bite, it's a great time! I have caught a lot of really nice ones on the spoon. As far as low light, if you mean night time I don't get out much at night. I'm sure it would work and I'm sure someone else may have a better answer in that regard. If you are just simply asking about low light as it relates to cloud cover? It's those days especially when you may not have to get as far back into the slips.

I should probably add..the front of the docks and corners are other excellent places to target on docks. You may also learn they are relating to the entrance of the dock slips as well. That being said stay out far enough from them that you are working the entire boat slip all the way out and watch out for the dock cables, they'll getcha. Most of the time you can work those spoons off most hang ups. Just get right over the top of them and allow the weight of the lure to free it up.

If you are working a jigging spoon...throw it into the shady area of the dock. "I like the war eagles 1/2 -7/8 oz. I like the war eagle because they have a swivel which helps prevent line twist." Pitch it back towards the walkway. Trying to get it to flutter under the walkway or swim decks. I usually ALWAYS allow it to go to the bottom on a "controlled slack line" while ALWAYS watching your line as the lure is sinking. Usually, or a lot of the times your hit will happen as it is sinking. Then comes the working of the bait. If you didn't hook up on the fall. I have watched many people on the lake work a spoon and in my opinion they work it too hard. That being said, it does take a snap but you don't necessarily have to work it too hard. As previously said most bites happen on the fall. A 2 foot snap will move the lure a long way in the water column. I will usually jig it off the bottom a couple of times and sometimes, even when I let it fall to the bottom in 40 to 60 foot of water. Then after each "snap" I crank the reel "one turn". And then a couple more snaps and another reel turn, so on and so forth. Get a faster reel to catch up to them and remember you are using treble hooks so you don't want too stiff of a rod to prevent ripping the hooks out. Always know how fast your lure is sinking. Get a reading in maybe 20 foot of water and let it fall on slack line "just as you are going to fish it" and count how long it takes to get to the bottom. If it stops any faster than that while you are fishing "reel down and set the hook." YOU HAVE A FISH! Pay attention each time as you are letting it fall. If you start noticing most of your bites are happening at 20 seconds or so. You may not have to waste the time of letting it go to the bottom each time. As far as a flutter spoon you want heavy line maybe even braid. Allow the spoon to go to the bottom. With a flutter spoon you allow it to go to the bottom and then jerk it, about like you would a jig hook set each. And allow it to go to the bottom. Of course while fishing it you aren't necessarily fishing the entire water column as you are a jigging spoon. Instead you should focus on areas where the fish are relating to the bottom. Good luck! I'm sure others will have something to add or say otherwise. I too may heed their advise.

Cbowen the champion owner tournament is 10/10/2015 out of Cape fair.

Sorry lots of typos. Hope you can read through them. Haha.

Just looking for some answers. As one looks at the Missouri regattas there are tournaments listed. Question 1. It says number of boats. That is how many boats they vary allowing correct? I realize there are phone number listed that I could probably call but thought I would ask someone on here fisrt. Question 2. Several say club tournaments. Are these myers only or do they allow others to enter? Question 3. Specific to Webb outdoors. They have a new division allowing amateurs (such as myself) to enter as single man teams. I was told... my question is, when you look at their website there are several tournaments listed. Several say elite (which I'm not) and others say cetral pro. Do any of you know which one I should be looking for to fish as a single man team? I'm sure someone has put a lot into their website it's just very convaluded to me.

I don't get to post much because I don't get down too often. But I did make it down with a few guys as earlier posted. I caught several on the Ned and 1/2 Oz swim jig PBJ. Water temp was 79 to 80. 10 to 14 fow. Most of them came behind the docks at the bank against the walk ways in a rock transition pea gravel to chunk rock. I love the stain water we have up there right now. The nicest I had on the jig probably went about 3lbs small mouth. I quit at 10 am and went back out around 4pm until 6pm. My buddy (not a bass fisherman) caught a couple on the ned and got pretty excited. We finally went over to a dock I can usually do pretty good on a spoon and caught several. I hooked a really nice spot but it came un done at the boat. Overall a good trip. The only thing is I wish is I would have thrown a crank parallel to the bank focusing on the 10 foot range. I thought about but didnt. Good luck everybody and have fun.

Hey guys and gals. I am heading down tomorrow with a few guys from my squad at work. I'll be in the dam area if anyone wants to throw any recent pointers my way. I haven't been down since fourth of July and a lot has probably changed. None of the guys I am going with are much on the "fisherman" side but enjoy doing it when they can. Heck, a couple of them have never been on a big lake. My thoughts were drop shot, Ned rig, jig and maybe under spins. If I'm on the right track let me know. Also what kind of areas do you guys think I should try. Thanks guys and good luck fishing. As always be safe and have fun.

Another reason to hold the water level lower during the winter months, again is to anticipate spring rains, as stated earlier. What happens when they can't release the water quicker is it kills the submerged vegetation which ultimately starts using oxygen itself. Thus depleting oxygen that otherwise would have stuck around. Water flow is great for many reasons...1.it brings in more quality oxygenated water (typically, unless decomposing vegetation is depleting it.) 2. Current helps to set up fish at current breaks ledges etc. 3. Moving water is always cooler water. Long time high water , then drawing that water down just isn't the same as a steady draw. As long as they don't draw too low. There is of course a happy medium with a "steady draw."

What I would like to know is, was she/he trying to catch it? If so why do they have to be responsible for those who can't catch? Some people are always just looking to make an easy buck. Read the sign "home of the the throwed rolls"
