  1. Great job. Should have ended with Written by Bill Babler copyright 2016. Nice read. Thank you
  2. Hey guys and gals. Just curious if anyone has heard if they found the person leaving from Indian point around memorial weekend who drowned? I do apologize if this has already been answered. I may have missed it. Thank you.
  3. Funny Bo. But yes the hook removal was easy. No pain at all. Other than having to push the one the rest of the way through. The other one I used the line trick. I've had to use that one other time on me and once on Pete wenners when I stuck a jerk bait in his back. (Rather embarrassing for me I might add) It works great. It's definitely a trick everyone should know. My wife is actually the one who showed it to me several years ago. She uses it quite often. She is a nurse in the emergency room here in Washington Mo.
  4. Hey guys and gals. I was down at table rock from the 11th to the 19th. I absolutely slayed the fish. Main lake points with a Carolina rig or a football jig. Sitting the boat in 25 fow throwing to the bank on long gravel chunk rock banks. Now to the spoon. Wonderful bite! Pitching in the boat slips anywhere from 40 fow to 80 fow around the docks. 90 percent of the hits were on the fall at the initial splash. I have one particular dock where I caught over 30 on it in no time. There was a lady sitting out on her dock. She watched me catch three then asked if she could take a picture. While she was typing my number in her phone she took three more pictures. It was literally cast after cast. For 8 days I was able to go back to this dock and catch many numbers and most all of them were keepers. Not only were they keepers, there were several ober 3lbs. A few largies were mixed in but mainly spots. Absolutely one of the best fishing trips I have had in a long time! Best thing about it is I will be back in 12 days. Worse thing is I broke my trolling motor and burried two hooks from one of my spoons in my hand.
  5. A one ounce weight with a snap swivel zip tied to it. Clip on your line, let it sink to your lure , shake it and that's it. I've used it a ton. They fit in your pocket, simple to use and best part of all, they are cheap. Less than 50 cents. Bad thing is they don't work real well on a crank bait. Great for jigs, shakey heads etc.
  6. Has anyone heard the latest on the driver/owner?
  7. That would be great TRRanger. Thanks
  8. It is all contour lines. And sorry it's a humminbird
  9. Hey guys. Question...my navionics on my front unit quit showing the contour lines all of the sudden. I haven't done anything different. I've reset default thinking that it would fix itself. No luck. Anybody have any suggestions? Thanks to all in advance.
  10. I can't agree with champ more on his color of lure in conjuction with water color. I will say I use monkey butt and perch and predominantly fish the dam are and have good success with those colors. Loz I use the black one mostly.
  11. Thank you Mr. Babler. Very good info. Even though I won't be down until June I'm constantly reading. Thanks again i can't wait to get down. Good luck to everyone that's getting to enjoy. As always be safe and have fun!
  12. I was down this weekend as well. Did pretty good with the Carolina rig. Brush hog. Green pumpkin. But what seemed to be a must for me, was tipping it chartreuse about an inch. I was sitting the boat in 12 feet casting at a 45 toward the bank in gravel pockets. Good luck to everyone. I too stayed in the dam area.
  13. Eye... I say. Change your water pump yourself if you are at all mechanically inclined you will see that changing a water pump is a simple task and will probably save you quite a few bucks. I'm not sure what it would cost to have a shop do it, but since it's a routine item needing replace every 1 or 2 years, I'm sure it can get costly. Sorry I'm just replying. As far as Ulrich goes. They are extremely nice people and good at what they do.
  14. B.O.A.T As they say Boat stands for bring out another thousand.
  15. Hey guys just wanted to share with you my weekend experience. I fished Thursday Friday and Saturday. Thursday i got on the water at near dark and only fished for about an hour. Actually never started the big motor. I caught a few shorts and about a 3lb spot on a rock crawler 5 fow. Friday i got back out at about 10. I went up to long creek. I had my nephew and grandpa with me. (Neither of which could cast) they just don't fish much and had never been on a big lake. They enjoyed the time out. My nephew caught 5 on a shakey head in about 5 foot of water. My grandpa probably knocked a few out with his lure as it usually hit the water really hard right at the boat. We ended up with 11 that day about half were keepers the other half were dinks. I caught my 6 on a rock crawler or a jig. I broke two nice ones off in the back of a creek right off the bank with a jig. Saturday came around. Grandpa decided to stay at the cabin. My nephew and i went back out. We first stayed near the dam. Again he threw the shakey head and caught 5 more. This time he caught his biggest fish to date. You would have thought that 2lb fish was a 5 lbr. I stuck with a jig fishing right on the bank. We later went to long creek. Throwing the jig with a twin tail grub as my trailer and the shakey head throwing it right on the bank. When it would fall off the ledge rock they would take the bait. Some would hit it and some would just take it in. You really had to be paying attention. We went back to the dam area and fished some docks with a white spinner bait. I was throwing it behind the docks and under the cables against the dock and caught one nice one while my buddy in another boat was doing the same thing . They caught a nice 4 lb lm and a a 2 lb small mouth. Sorry i have to end the report on a bad note. But on my way back from long creek my boat started running rough.after running all the way to springfield (not knowing where else to go) I grabbed a fuel filter. That was the fix. Then...when i took off I spun a hub. Fished the rest of the day with the trolling motor and caught a few more pitching in the scrub brush again literally right off the bank. Later on in the afternoon everything slowed way down after 4 not another bite. Good luck to everyone. Sorry it's such a long report.
  16. Thanks for the report. I hardly ever focus for crappie at table rock but always say I'm going to. I guess I may have to start trying it with all the reports. Good luck to all.
  17. Great job. Glad you got to spend some time with the little one. So cool!
  18. Fozzy, I am sorry if you learned this fix already as I did not read the other details on the comments because I just had the same experience. I have since learned how to fix mine and it is extremely easy. All you need to do is ground your trolling motor. Remove your wire harness from the bow of your boat. You will see the black wire/screw. Once you have located it, take a piece of 16 gauge wire and strip both ends. Touch it to the screw with the black wire (ground screw) touch the other end to your trolling motor head. This should clear it up. If it did not touch, it to the other black screw. Once you are convinced you have the problem resolved you simply have to route your wire down the trolling motor shaft and attach it with a hose clamp. Hope this helps. If it doesn't just private message me. I'l give you a call and walk you through it.
  19. I haven't got the "chocks" yet but I'm still looking at other potential problems. I think now I have isolated the problem. I thoughtperhaps Iit was being caused by my battery charger which wouldn't have made much since as each bank shouldbe Iinsulated from each other. I unhooked the charger but the problem still existed. I really don'tthink tthat isthe problem. So....I ran my trolling motor at full speed the distortion appears at first and then goes away if I keep the trolling motor going. I slowly dialed down the speed. I noticed when the trolling motor slowed down to just about half speed the distortion re-appears. I pulled the transducer off the trolling motor and separated the cable from the shafts it'still has the problem. Any new thoughts?
  20. It was tough out there. Not knowing lake of the ozarks makes it that much tougher on a day like we had. Some people say when u get a beautiful day like we had Saturday in the winter times equals a tough day at LOZ. We caught only one. Went with a plan of throwing the jerk bait or a rig but the water was to dirty for the jerk bait for me to have any confidence. I threw the a rig some but probably not enough.
  21. I'll start there as that could be a simple fix. Thanks. Should this not work, if anyone else has experienced this same thing let me know and I will do those as well. Thanks again.
  22. Hey guys i just want to pick your brains. I have a humminbird 859 ci HD di and i am having a problem while in "down scan mode". Each time I activate my trolling motor my screen really blurs up but only within the cone. I can still see the detail, but again the screen is blurry. Even if I just bump the trolling motor on it will blur the screen (within the cone) in other words if I hold the trolling motor power on for an extended time eventually the entire scree will blur. That being said, I have cut a coozie cup and placed the foam between the trolling motor and the transducer to try eliminate this feed back as well as the sonar and the trolling motor is hooked to different batteries. Does anyone have any advice on what I could do? Thanks for your help.
  23. Thanks guys. Lookingforward to it
  24. I'm heading to loz this weekend. Any tips on Bass fishing? Anybody. Thanks
  25. Man 2 inches visibility. All the odds were against you. Cold, dropping, dirty water usually ='s tough fishing. Good job!
