  1. Amen to that. Amazing to see how people operate their watercraft these days. I've witnessed several near misses this year. We had a "go fast" boat cut in between us and the bank going at least 50mph and I was no more than 30ft off of it.
  2. Thanks bburns. Do they have a link like that but showing a full weekly or monthly history?
  3. Is there anywhere to see a daily history of lake level AND generation amount? I thought I saw it at one time but can't for the life of me find it again. Thanks.
  4. Hey Bass Enforcer were yours totally kaputt? I have two that act up, seems like the control buttons get "sticky" and won't operate. I've noticed this when its been wet with either rain or just high humidity. In fact one time my screen dimmer wouldn't work and that was on a pitch black night which made for an interesting evening. Thanks for the info.
  5. Amazed at how fast the Rock has come up! Fished Pt 12 & 13 area this afternoon but was surprised at the lack of debris, afraid it's coming though after going over the Finley at 65 on way to Spfld this evening. Don't get me wrong, there was debris but not what I was expecting. Water was stained but not bad, boated two 14" K's and lost two at the boat in an hour of fishing. Caught on a drop shot at inside edge of main lake point. Both that I boated were very pale, maybe because of mud or cooler water???? Quite a bit of boat traffic which I wasn't expecting, including a nice Cobalt running through the debris with a tube attached pulling two kids, amazing what some people do out there isn't it?! Be careful if you're out this weekend I saw LOTs of big logs floating at the shoreline just waiting to go for a ride.
  6. I can't even imagine what the 4th is going to be like this year with lower gas prices and nice weather.
  7. Thank you all for the comments. I too see those Sat/Sunday tourney boats running south, kids love watching them zoom past, so do I. I hope to get out this weekend and will post how it went. Good fishing.
  8. Fished yesterday morning with the kiddos around points 12 & 13. Water was muddy up to Buttermilk Springs then started to clear although still stained by Hideaway. Water temp was 83 and air temp was hot! Not much debris at all which was a surprise, hopefully it stays that way. Fished Ned, spinner bait, under spin with white swimming minnow and a top water. Ned was the only thing that produced any fish or bites. Boated 3 fish which came on secondary points. Any thoughts to get kids on fish in the James area?? Thanks for all the advice on this forum, it's a great resource.
  9. Slow with slack line......I had one on Saturday doing just that, didn't realize it was on until half way back to the boat.
  10. They just clamped down on it, or at least one did. When I got the first one up to the boat the jig was hanging out his mouth to the side until he shook it out, which I was glad about. The second was wrapped around the bill pretty good (line) and the jig was just dangling below the bill, I didn't want to lose my second jig of the day so I hauled him in and unraveled it. The second one spun like a gator as I had it up next to the boat, pretty cool as I didn't know they did that.
  11. Finally got out on the water Sat & Sun. Threw the Ned A LOT, didn't do so hot. Caught a few on bluff ends Sat but none there Sunday. Sunday was tough for me but did have fun catching two gar on an ice jig. Saw some activity in the mouth of Piney on the finder and thought it was some whites, dipped the ice jig down and caught a gar, then another, then one small spot. Got some of Dave's (dtrs5kprs) Ned heads and used them for the first time, they were nice. Only lost one and I was in some gnarly stuff too, I highly recommend them. Here are a couple of pics. The weekend was beautiful & it wasn't as busy as I thought it would have been out there. Cheers.

  13. Interesting. The channel "line" has disappeared on mine.
  14. Interesting. I'll have to try that little set up, thanks for the tip. I been struggling with the Ned this fall, great luck in the spring & early summer and looking forward to see how it does in winter. I've been buying my mushroom heads from PJ's Finesse baits in Fayetteville, they even have one with a guard. You can get them online or at Southtown Sporting Goods in Fayetteville. Good fishng!
  15. Very cool. Good idea!
  16. And you aren't going to share Quillback?
  17. Cindyjo I agree, the darn gar are everywhere and I mean everywhere up this way. Why is it? I've often heard that if gar are around forget catching anything. I have been out three times in the last month and every time I have seen schools of topping gar. One day they were on the flat just north of Piney by the hundreds, next time in the back of Piney and the third in the mouth of Smith Branch (School house?).

    Idiots

The court of public opinion is what's getting this country in trouble!
  19. No kidding about the gar. I was out today around Cape and they were almost everywhere I stopped. What's the deal? I've often heard that if the gar are around you won't catch any fish; which was true for me today. Caught four shorts on drop shot (2) & green pmpkn jig (2).
  20. Same up the James too! Can't even tell you how many boats have cut in between me & the bank while fishing AND pleasure boating lately, seems more the norm these days! I will say that while out on the water this last weekend a lot of the clueless boaters had out of state registrations. It's getting entirely out of control and the patrol isn't doing anything about it and I don't think they can (man power and budget constraints). So maybe there is a way to "educate" the clueless about boat /lake etiquette, but then again the idiot plowing a 4ft wave behind his 36ft cabin cruiser next to a line of docks and fisherman probably won't take any advice anyhow.
  21. basscat123 I'm very interested in your solution. As for the money involved, that's a tough one. Seems like everything we touch these days cost hundreds of dollars. I've got a camera and a couple of local alarm devices for dock boxes and that was around 500, so if your idea works and truly protects my equipment then I would be willing to pay up! Keep us updated and you might want to advertise on here once you get to market, this forum gets a lot of eyeballs.
  22. Nanofil with leader. Great line, not cheap though.
  23. Nanofil is fantastic. Thin diameter and throws a mile. I've had it on two spools for a year now with very few problems. Fish it most of the time with a fluoro leader.
  24. That's awesome. THanks for sharing.
