  1. I have been reading your post and I have been going to try the little rig but for some reason I have been putting it off and sticking with what I have been using for years, but I have changed my mind now. It was so much more fun for me to watch my wife catch that many fish than me catching them!!!! Thanks again for all your detailed reports. The little rig is a awesome bait!!!
  2. Launched at about 6:00 at Long Creek, only rig in the lot. Headed to the 86 Bridge area starting throwing the Redfin and Spook, we had 3 bass within the first 15 min. on the fin. Then the fog rolled in and we was stuck fishing in this area till the fog lifted about 8:30 or so. Threw the fin and spook till the sun burned off the fog with only 2 more fish, all the topwater bites came on the fin, only a couple short strikes on the spook. I started throwing motor oil red flake texas rigged 7 inch worm, green pumpkin 3/8 oz. jig with a green pumpkin twin tail zoom trailer and my wife was throwing the ned rig green pumpkin red flake on a 1/8 oz. head. Took her a while to figure what the fish wanted. She started to scrub the bottom then the bite was on!!!! Had the boat setting in about 25 fow throwing towards the bank. The best banks was gravel with small chuck rocks. We ended with around 30 or so K's and smallmouth, most were around 12 to 14 inches with 4 or 5 keepers, nothing over 16 inches. My fish was spilt pretty even between the worm and jig, and wifes' fish were all caught on the little rig besides the 5 we caught on the fin, yes my wife out fished me today and that just great with me!!!! Water temp was 66.4 when we started and 68.3 when we ended the day. And my wife also caught this 19 inch walleye on the ned rig. I tried to get her to lip the walleye for the pic, but for some reason she would not do that!!! What a great day to be on the lake. My wife told be to make sure I had plenty of the ned rigs for next time!!!!
  3. Thanks for the great report and pics!!!! Good job!!!
  4. Fish this area last Saturday morning, had a good top water bite on the redfin til the sun came out. Once the sun came out threw a texas rigged plastic worm in motor oil red flake, had a good bite on that also. Most of the time had the boat setting in 20 to 25 fow throwing towards the bank. Zara spook is also a good top water bait, also throw a split shot rig with a green pumpkin fish doctor and don't forget about the ned rig. Hope this helps and good luck!!!!
  5. Thanks for the report, plan on fishing in that area this weekend.
  6. Thanks for all of your reports and pictures. We plan on being on the lake this weekend and going to give the little rig a try!!!! Like to fish slow, so should be right up our alley. Thanks again for the great reports!!!!!
  7. Thanks for the response. I learned something new today, that doesn't happen everyday!!! It is amazing what you can learn on this site!!!
  8. I was watching a fishing show and the host caught a bass and after he removed the hook the fish was bleeding pretty bad. The host opened up a mountain dew and poured it down the mouth of the fish and returned the fish to the water, he said the mountain dew would stop the fish from bleeding and the fish should be fine. I have never heard of anything like this, I was just wondering if anyone else had heard of this before?
  9. Thanks for the report, cane poles bring back a lot of memories!!!!!
  10. My wife and I launched the boat at Long Creek ramp at about 6:45 and headed towards Brushy. Started throwing the black and char tube jig on 1/16 oz. head, the wife was fishing minnows under a float about 6 foot. Neither one of us had any bites, threw different color of crappie jigs with a float and without a float. Finally caught a 12 inch crappie on a yellow jig under a float set about 6 foot. Fished for crappie till about 10:30 or so and had only the one crappie to show for it. The water in the area has really cleared, about 10 to 12 foot of visibility, I don't know if that could of moved the crappie out deeper or the crappie may of spawned already. With the cloudy skies and light wind we started to throw the Red Fin, good bite on the fin. Fished the fin for about 30 minutes or so then the sun came out and that was the end of the fine bite. Started to throw texas rigged 7 inch Berkley Power worm motor oil red flake. The bite on the worm was pretty good. Bass fished for about 2 hrs. caught about 15 all the bass were spots, had 4 keepers with the biggest one 16 inches, rest was between 12 and 14 inches. Had the boat setting in about 20 to 25 fow and throwing to the bank. As they say hind site is 20/20, if I had the day to do over would of started throwing the red fin first thing!!!! (Love the Red Fin Bite) No pics this time I forgot to take the camera, my bad!!! Can't wait to get on the lake again!!!!

  15. Thanks for the report, the crappie I caught on Sat. seemed to be closer to the bank. I really thought they would be tight to the bank by now, I guess that is what I get for trying to think!!!!! Really cool videos!!!!
  16. Sounds like a really great day!!! Thanks for the report and pictures.
  17. You guys had a great day. Glad to hear you caught a few on the Red Fin!!!! Thanks for the report.
  18. Launched the boat at Long Creek Ramp at about 06:30, only one in the parking lot. Headed to the same area as in the report on the 17th. The ride this morning was not near as cold as the one on Thursday!!!! Put the boat about a cast length from the bank and started throwing the black and char. tube on a 1/16th head. Reeling back slowly and the bite would usually come between the bank and about a 1/3 of the way back to the boat, bite was very lite again today, Had 4 nice keepers by about 8:30 or so. The bite seemed to be closer to the bank. The bite really slowed once the sun came up. So I moved out deeper to see if the crappie had moved out deeper, but no luck. Also threw a smoke color swimming minnow and blue and white tube, no bites on either one. Tried a few different areas and caught 2 more keepers and 3 shorts. Water temp. was 57 when I started and 59.4 when I ended the day. End up with 6 keepers and 3 shorts. It was just a Beautiful day to be on the lake!!!!
  19. Thanks everyone. Ducky you sure have that right about the cold!!! Kansas Boy 13 I am still waiting for my new cleaning table!!!
  20. Great report and really great pics!!!!!
  21. New to the forum, first report so bear with me!!! Put the boat in at Long Creek at about 06:30 this morning, no one else at the ramp. Headed to Brushy ( very cold ride this morning)!!!!! Water temp was 53, started throwing a black and char. Bass Pro Shops tube jig on a 1/16 oz. head. Boat was setting about a cast from bank, usually in about 15 fow. Throwing the tube close to bank and just reeling it back really slow, most bite came between the bank and half way back to the boat. The bite was vey lite, usually just feel extra weight on the jig. Banks with some brush and chuck rocks seemed to be the best. I fished them kind of spots and any cuts. About 10:00 the bite just seemed to die. Fished about another hour and head to the ramp. Ended the day with 9 keepers and only 1 short. Had a couple 14 inches, rest besides one was between 11 1/2 to 13 inches. I was surprised when I cleaned the fish they were all males. Some of the biggest males that I have caught. Water temp was 54 when I left. Hope this helps someone. Took a picture of the crappie, did not turn out very good. Going to try to post it. This site IMO is the best fishing site hands down, just a really great site!!!!
