The cabins at Orleans Trail are small. The one i stayed in had the bed right in the main room. No bedrooms. Maybe some of the other cabins had bed rooms. The motel is nice. Not sure if they had plug ins in the parking lot though.

Just want to say Happy Birthday Bill. I think we can all say how much we appreciate your valuable advice on here and your stories.

Thanks Seth and Tom C. Really appreciate the info.

I dont fish for trout very often. Next week i will be down at Tanneycomo for a few days. My question to you trout boys: is there a way to fish a scud with a spinning setup? I understand those scuds are very tiny and need to be fished on the bottom. I think? I assume most of the scud fisherman use fly rods? Any advice would be deeply appreciated.

I think the Tiggers are playing football tonight
Smithvillesteve replied to Quillback's topic in Table Rock Lake
1) I hardly watched any bowl games this year because of the interim coaches, opt outs and who really wants to be there. I did watch a little bit of the KU v LV game. Was hoping Ol friend Barry Odom could send them home with a loss. Sorry Vernon. But his defense played as well as MU did when he was head coach. I watched most of KSt game v NC St. I'm a closet KSt fan and have a son that graduated from there. And being an MU fan i watched the Tigers. 2) If McCord and Harrison play it certainly would have affected the outcome. I think. But like Bill says it is what it is. Most of Ohio St players are 4 star and 5 star kids. Its a good win for MU. I've heard McCords Dad wanted a guarantee that his kid would start next year. Day wouldnt give them that. So he went to Syracuse. From Ohio St starting qb to Syracuse?? 3) I wouldnt think of betting on bowl games. like i said, interim coaches, opt outs, who really wants to be there? But i put a little coin on both semi final games. I bet on Alabama on the moneyline and took Texas minus the 4 pts. Lost both! But those were two exciting games last night. Great entertainment. It reinforces what i said earlier about i dont want to punish myself and not watch despite hating the way college athletics is right now. 4) Will you take me fishing Dock In It?? -

Happy New Years to all you boys! We made it another year. I'm 71 yrs old and i hate the way college athletics is headed. I'm old school. I thought you played your entire regular season to get to a bowl game! And now they opt out? I was against NIL. We already got pro leagues. 99% of those D1 athletes will never have it better than when they are in school. Free room, free meals, free books, free tuition, fly in private planes to places all over the country, stay in top hotels. Colorado qb, Dion's son, made 8m last year in NIL deals. With that being said, like Bill said, its not the 50's, 60's, 70's............ anymore. Times have changed. You can sit around and gripe about it, quit watching whatever. Or accept that change and go with it. I dont want to punish myself by not watching games that i love. Drinkwitz is a weird dude. He was doing snow angels in the confetti! But that dude can recruit and young players like him. He has adopted all the changes with portals and nil and is prospering with it. Go Drink Go!! And go Mizzou!! -
I havent fished Pomme lately but their was a guy on here awhile back that fishes Pomme and he claimed the area from Lightfoot up river on the Pomme arm was best for fall fishing. Good luck. And hope muskies dont steal your lures!!

Heck yes! Send me pm Dutch! Appreciate it very much!

Not what i wanted to hear Targa!! Thinking about going over to Stockton to fish a couple of days this week. Thanks for your report. Not getting much reporting on here lately.
-
Thanks Dutch for the info. I usually like to fish for smallies up on the main lake area. Maybe I'll go over to Roarks Bluff and put in there and fish up river instead for largies. 10 with 4 keepers is a pretty good day!!
-
Must be pretty slow out there Skeeter. Think i might get over to Stockton for a few days early next week. I'm seeing temps in the 70's. Fish for walleye one day and bass one day. Any info would be appreciated. I know the Table Rock boys hate September!!

Question for you Pomme boys. Any info greatly appreciated. My last two times down there i have seen a couple of guys trolling for crappies with their trolling motor. Very slowly in the creeks. I would like to try that. So lots of questions: How slow? Size of jig? How much line out? I dont have Livescope so finding brush for me to fish is difficult. I ususally only fish for crappies during the spawn. But I saw these boys catching some. Thought i might give it a try. Thanks for any info.

Kim City - June 21 - Deep bite (Jewel Live Spin helped)
Smithvillesteve replied to Dock-in-it's topic in Table Rock Lake
A buddy of mine sent me a Youtube video of Mike Iacanelli describing the Hover Strolling technique. Basically a minnow type bait on a 90 degree eye hook with a nail weight in the nose. It looks like to me that could be deadly at Table Rock. If you get a chance check it out. -
Just got back from our annual trip up to NW Ontario. Caught a lot of walleyes despite the hot weather. Mid to Upper 80's every day. Unheard of up there this time of year. I been going to this lake for nearly 40 years. Never caught a smallmouth bass. You can portage over to another lake and catch them however. This year we caught several. Mostly cookie cutters in the 14 to 16 inch range. My son did catch a fat 19 incher. Beautiful fish! My question to you boys is this: The lodge owner wanted us to kill every smallie we caught. We didnt do that. There are guys in camp from Minn and Wisc that hate the smallies also. Claim they will take over the lake. One Minn guy points to Mille Lacs lake. Claims the smallies have overtaken that once great walleye fishery. Is there any truth to this? It would be nice to talk to a conservation officer or somebody in the know on this topic. But i thought I would ask you boys about it. What your thoughts are.

OA One Bass Tourney - May 20 Campbell Point
Smithvillesteve replied to Quillback's topic in Table Rock Lake
I finally got the message Quill. Hope this is not too late to save you the trip!! -
Boys I'm a little confused. I personally wish all these tournaments would go to a catch weigh release system. And the thought of a fisherman taking a female off the bed and throwing her in the livewell repulses me. But Jay Kumar, author of the BassBlasters refutes all these claims. He claims bass fishing is as good as ever. And that tournament fishing is doing no harm. And i like Jay Kumar. He is a god fearing family man that i truly believe has the best interests of bass in mind. In one of his latest issues there was a state that implementing catch weigh and release tournaments only. He blasted the government regulations made by men that have no idea about bass fishing. For the most part i agree with Wrench. But i just dont know.

I talked to a guy the other day while i was down there and he said he had a pretty good day throwing a wacky rig just off the edge of the moss. Claimed he had a 3 and several 2's. Good luck. Let us know how you do.

Thanks Ketchup!!

OA One Bass Tourney - May 20 Campbell Point
Smithvillesteve replied to Quillback's topic in Table Rock Lake
I'd take a few golf balls Quill. Let me ask you boys a question: I've never had my boat down lake from the mouth of the Kings. For the OA tournament would i be better off taking my boat off the water and driving over to Campbell point or just boat there? How far is it? Is there places to beach your boat? If i have a fish to weigh in I obviously would need to boat there. Thanks for any input. -
Thanks guys. I appreciate the info.

Any of you Pomme boys willing to tell me what the crappies are doing? Not locations. I'm 4 weeks out from knee replacement surgery and i think i can try and get down there. Been pretty quiet on the Pomme page.
-
Thanks Bill. I will give Mr. Stone a call in the next few weeks. I am only 3 weeks out from total knee replacement surgery and have not had a chance to get on the water. Would like to be on the water when i call him. I could get the depth and temp from the data overlay. But not the mph but i see it there??
-
Bill you quite the setup. Life is good. I got a Lowrance setup Bill. Dont have Active Target but i could add it if i ever wanted. I cant get the mph to work. Its not all that important but it is useful if i am dragging a worm harness around for eyes at Stockton. Need to be in that 1.0 to 1.2 mph range. Graph also has 2D and Sidescan. Would Mr Stone be willing to spend an hour with an old clueless guy like me to help me get dialed in? Or are you talking about helping the Active Target guys? And i totally understand.
