  1. I'd love to see him win. He was so close at Falcon a few years back but his sportsmanship let combs get it if I recall.
  2. I use 7'1 medium rods for Ned rigs, drop shot, shaky head and mojo rigs. I can't say it's for everyone but it works for me.
  3. I've also heard when the dogwoods are in bloom, the bass are on the beds. Not true this year either with the crazy warm winter giving things an early start.
  4. Once i got proficient with a baitcaster I didn't want to deal with spinning tackle anymore. It gets old dealing with line twist and bait casters are good enough now to throw things typically though of as spinning tackle finesse techniques.
  5. I had a pretty tough day, started in rb cove in heavy fog. Threw a rock crawler around the ramp and got nothing. Eased up to Orleans trail, threw the crawler for quite a while to no avail and switched to s 3/8 jig and finally got a bite on a point. Pulled up and went toward state park, and wanted to try a new Carolina rig setup. Ended up catching one on a black lizard but nothing else there. Moved up further to cedar ridge and caught the best fish of the day on a secondary point up there, might have gone 3. Beautiful day, just couldn't really get onto them. Caught a couple on the Ned too as the day was winding down.
  6. Awesome! I'm sure they'll have lockjaw tomorrow lol. Story of every fishermans life "shoulda been here yesterday". I'll be putting in at the dam, try some areas down here and might head up the little sac. I'm in a yellow and black rig in case anyone's around.
  7. I'm heading down this evening and fishing tomorrow and maybe Tuesday. What's the overall clarity like? Looked like it was going to be nice tomorrow. Anyone else fishing tomorrow?
  8. Last I knew bps fluorocarbon was made by Toray, which is one of only a handful of FC line makers. I always buy it when it's buy 2 get one free and it's not too expensive that way. As long as lews isn't repackaged Berkley vanish it's worth a try.
  9. Speaking for myself, I'd would imagine a good guide would be more upset with themselves for not putting me on fish than I would be at them. Id like to think a fisherman knows the deal going in. By the same token I've also been on guide trips where I've felt all I did was pay to watch a guy fish for 8 hours and they were glad to take my money.
  10. I didn't think the tatula was bad either, the rod was pretty good too. I think I tried a 7'1" mh. So many choices out there it's a lot to figure out. Anyone remember when Rick clunn was professing using one model rod and reel for everything? What's the fun in that?
  11. Id never seen the amount of fish get cleaned as the holly park fish cleaning station on Toledo bend. They'd haul tubs and tubs of fish guts out of there every day mostly bass and crappie.
  12. If you really want to research rods, reels etc head over to tackletour.com. The reviews by their staff as well as the forums will give you hours of reading. I'd try not to go super cheap on a reel, you pretty well get what you pay for.
  13. It should be more common than it is to eliminate line touching the blank and twisting of the blank. I think quantum had a Gary Klein flipping rod with revolving guides but very few mainstream offerings.
  14. It was a tough time not being out there today. Nice report!
  15. It came factory on the boat, their website would be all I'd know to try. It has a voltage gauge as well to monitor the trolling batteries.
  16. For what it's worth I've had a stealth 1 charging system since 2011 with no problems with my charging system. I think it works well especially when a power outlet is unavailable for charging overnight.
  17. Yep those little green fish aren't cheap. Believe me I know! What technique proved the best? I was down Thursday and Friday but spent my time setting toilets and cutting trim. Awesome weather to be out.
  18. I have a few, probably 22 baitcasting combos for bass but don't take them all everywhere I go. If I'm coming down to Stockton or table rock I don't bring a frog setup with 65# braid or a flipping rod with 25# fluorocarbon. I generally don't keep more than 4 on deck and will leave baits and combos I'm not using in the trailer at the ramp. I reall don't like having a bunch of clutter if I can avoid it plus a bunch of rods out are likely to get stepped on. From one of my favorite movies.
  19. I haven't had real good luck with optimas over the years in both automotive and marine applications. I got I think two and a half years out of my group 31 blue top before it went bad.. I've had a single 24v lithium pro trolling battery for a couple years now and so far it's working great. Probably not worth the cost but it seems to work and I noticed the weight reduction.
  20. Everything's 15% off....except the good stuff you want lol. Tackle trap is great!

I fished the dam to hawker last weekend catching probably the most on a lucky craft 1.5 DD. Didn't try a spinnerbait but they might have ate that too judging by the amount of shad activity I saw. Caught several white bass too, they were quite active. Fish were a lot more shallow than I expected.
  22. Never had the pleasure of meeting him in person but enjoyed reading all he had to say in here. Hate it when things like this hit close to home.
  23. If you think fishing is bad take a look at dirt track racers and horse people lol.
  24. Makes catch and release an even more wonderful thing.
  25. I think it's great, the only thing it doesn't have is the anticipation factor of a weigh in for crowds to cheer for. If there was a way to keep it honest I'd start tournament fishing under this format
