  1. If a fella was to put in and paddle to the main lake where shall I...errrr he start? Goshen or war eagle? I'm strictly c&r just looking for a good float and some tugs
  2. Greasy B how are those clubs treating you?
  3. Atta boy! It's been slow up by the dam for me. Guess they went further and deeper. That is a great day
  4. Beautiful fish! Hope it's still swimming
  5. That bottom pic I took did not do that fish justice.
  6. Dude that was a blast. Every method was catching every creek species I know. I was blown away with how random the bag was. Good times with good people sums it up!
  7. I floated twice last week. Once from rock house to trigger gap and once from trigger gap to the farm. From rock house the fishing was poor with a lot of very small fish. From trigger gap to farm was a lot better fishing. Lower quantity but much higher quality fish. One thing to note is there are a lot of trees that you have to maneuver under around and even through. Keep an eye out I was having to watch my fly rod a lot. It's a good float though. I used black buggers with success but with all the trees I switched to the spin rod with a metallic blue grub. Enjoy!
  8. I've got someone watching over me at these ducks unlimited banquets. In the past two years I've struck gold with two sets of ping g20 irons and a driver. I don't need two sets but I can attest that when I changed from my old clubs (callaway x20 old as hell) these clubs changed my game tremendously. I'm no expert but I can say they are fantastic clubs. Before I troll them out on Craigslist I figured I would see if anyone on here is interested. The set I'll sell you has only been used once by me at the driving range. 4-9 iron utility and pitching wedge embedded with the du duck head and a driver with head cover. Pm me if interested and see if I can strike you a deal. Retail on the irons is 499 and the driver 149. Thats without the logo. Either way I hope to make someone's day with this deal.
  9. Tax return coming....thanks for the tip. Do you have any recommendations for a reel? I mainly fly fish but when I can't I need a good real. Ashamed to admit I usually for the $20 special, thinking about it, that might be the reason I don't like spinner fishing....
  10. We took a trip to port Mansfield, south of Corpus Christi this fall. Bluebird skies, clear and skinny water and I netted 26 out of a poking skiff off of one spoon. I am hesitant to go back cause I'll prolly never match that. On the flip side the first day we boated 5 and still had a heck of a good time. Good luck and enjoy! Those suckers fight like crazy
  11. I learned something as well. Seems like growing up I was taught to hold a fish like by the lip like that. Now I know thanks guys
  12. Saw it yesterday it's a dam good way to spend 8 bucks on a cold day
  13. That is some dam tasting looking food. Are yall looking for work in a kitchen?
  14. wish I would've seen this thread last year!
  15. I'm 35 but I butcher a lot of animals. When I first started skinning hogs, tennis elbow ruined me. I couldn't even grab a sautée pan without pain. I took the jokes because it does sound measly, but it was far from a laughing matter. I used a copperwear bracelet, pretty sure I got it at bed bath and beyond for about two months. I also did a exercise where you turn your arm upside down(Palms up) and grab your fingertips from underneath with your other hand for fifteen seconds. It hurt but it was a good kinda pain. Hope it gets better because that Shiite isn't fun
  16. Brine them and wrap em with cured pig belly of some sort, I prefer pancetta but bacon all the same
  17. Worthwhile to make the drive from west fork?1/4/16 thanks!

Water is in good shape, getting better every day

  18. This is my first year to find out about c&r at roaring river. I've been to the park twice and it was shoulder to shoulder with people fishing. An elderly lady literally casted over my fly line. That being said, as a not so good fly fisherman trying to teach my old lady to fish I thought this place will be perfect. If the visitor center where I bought my tags and thing I had to pin visibly on is closed, where would an Arkansan hurting from a blocked field goal go to get fixed up to fish on a Monday at RR? Thanks for any help
  19. Yes sir that dam near ruined my entire week running all day when it wasn't projected. Did get out Sunday. This is the first fall I've fished up here, so for my sake and the fishes, and maybe some on the forum, fill me in on the Redds situation. I've read about it but are there some key areas to be avoided?
  20. went below the dam this morning a little before sunrise. The river was very low, (probably 50 ft across at best)There was fish activity everywhere, found current worked a midge and hooked up with some good looking trout. Beautiful! Between my poor knot tying skills and the two deer that insisted on crossing the river where I was fishing every good drift produced a strike. Grey and olive. Then..bam...9am horn blows and my day is done. That's the first time I've seen it not follow the schedule, but I did have the river to myself so that was too good to be true anyways. Headed over to roaring river and caught good trout, they just weren't the same
  21. Wound up wading at cow shoals. Complete opposite of what I've been fishing at beaver but fun nonetheless. Shallow and very fast current, lots of mending. Midges grey and red 6-8" under the indicator yielded me 6 nice rainbows. Checked out the hatchery area and caught one just about every cast by the ramp with a dancing caddis. Pretty sure they were all stockers a the guys with the spoons on the bank were cathing them literally every cast. Probably gonna check out swinging Bridge tommorow
  22. And for sure 6x, I have 7x and they man next to me was using 1lb tippet
  23. Midges changed that river for me. It seemed as though it was depth more than pattern that triggered strikes. If no action in a couple drifts I'd take it a couple inches deeper. The water is way deeper than it looks. You don't suck. I have fished countless hours with nothing to show for it while the guy next to me is hitting every cast. Attention to small details is key and once you find what works it's all worth it
  24. Hahahahaha yeah it's super spooky but totally worth it. looking forward to doing it again. Just don't make any rapid movements and you'll be fine
  25. I'm thinking I'll go scout the area in the morning and if it looks manageable bring the yak back the next day. Is there plenty of walkable river upstream from swinging bridge? I've never been there. Also the thing I DO remember about cow shoals was the steps. My kayak might be the end of me if I try carrying it down there. Just looking for a place to roam around really. Regarding the generation, what's it take to make it unfishable?
