  1. That means you have a hundie! in your billfold at all times ! Les Some of us cant do that on the daily! I'm sad you cant make it for JF! But the invitation is always open to stay my friend!
  2. Thanks Snagged! And I am now fully aware thanks to personal experience... not that THEY (The Corp) helped in any way.... I have had an Epifinay! (warning to anyone reading... you are not going to be given any REAL heads up to life or death situational awareness with regard to rising water!) Now that I know my safety below the Dam is frankly a moving target! according to the Army Corp of Engineers... this sucks and should easily be remedied...dont release unless you horn! Simple right? waiting for the excuses??? I'll hold my breath... Not really! .
  3. For whatever reason they are running I guess my biggest complaint is they will just magically let out 3-5" of measurable rise in the river and not blow the darn horn... Had my first experience with this wading only 10 yrds from shore after I moved here. They blew the horn..... so I started moving to shore only to realize they had already been releasing water to cause a considerable rise in the river! Halfway towards shore the current pushed me down steam into a hole and I was belly deep before I knew it..(I fish with just shorts (I find the temp tolerable on the legs (might need to see a doc about that )), so I wasnt too panicked when the twig and two berries got wet and realized I needed to fight the new deeper current..... here is the problem: That I didnt "Hear it Comming"... they blew it after the fact, that they already started releasing! Isnt the horn preemptive???? According to the signage it is. Lesson learned.... pick a spot and watch regardless of the corp caring about your personal safety.. as the task of blowing the horn before release is apparently not that important...... and what's 6" of rise among friends right? Im not the only one that has seen this.....I've been there with Netboy when its happened and I see it all the time since I moved here... Two days ago this happened again... I try to take the dog for a walk frequently down to the Golf Course Ramp and bring the rod along with me. They other day they raised the water level at least 6 inches.... the wheel chair ramp was completely dry when I got there.. there was an older gentleman fly fishing from the ramp so I moved up stream from him in to the wheel chair ramp and chucked the zigjig for 10-15 minutes (completely dry and well below the concrete pad) ... after he (gentleman fly fisher) left I moved to the ramp where he was just standing on the dry area cause I didnt want to get my shoes wet......There was so much weed trash I decided to call it good and head back home... I forgot my pipe on the wheel chair ramp railing and went back to get it......Lo and behold the area was well under water already (over my shoes where I was standing not 15 min earlier.... No Horn... nothing..... yet water up at least 6" 🖕... It wasnt until I was 100 yards down the cart path when they blew the horn...) Is this the norm?
  4. Ill be at my new place below the Bulls Shoals Dam, I am set for lodging. I will have my boat and at least one seat, but what I may not have is a vehicle to tow it (Mike you there )... new jasper engine <500 miles puked and waiting on the warranty replacement. It may not be in by then and if it is.... I probably will still need to run breaking it in and not tow by then.. Eric
  5. Somehow I managed to post this on last years thread... Thanks Daryk! "Anyone" wanting to eat/cook/chillax (before after fishing ) on Wed, Thursday or even Friday before everyone congregates at the lodge.... if you are so inclined - Mi Casa Su Casa. Ping me if interested. Just let me know! BTW - I'll be smoking Boston Butt again (need a number of people depending on when you want Pulled Pork, so I can get the appropriate poundage's) and.... I have a new crock pot favorite which I will debut if any wants to subject themselves to being a taste tester - ssshhhhH! its a secret..... it includes chicken and an amazing Zuccini relish in the mix.... I did the whole Ratatouille experiment the other day and it was worthy of JigFest patrons.......feedback will be appreciated! Promise not to poison you!

  8. OK>>> Alec Baldwin is the Producer & "star (lowercase...just sharing my disdain for this creep) " In ‘Rust’ as I understand this scenario. So when you ask how she got the Job?, how could this have happened?, why was the blank not a blank?.......... have a thought about this scenario that happens all the time in Hollyweird...... about a Girl wants job with little to no qualifications..... meets self centered actor producer. I can speculate here...So I will ... on the "So you want to get into the business " conversation.. "I'm a producer and a star" I can help you here lets go to my trailer...... (Conspiracy?) theory.
  9. Lets start with .. I'm not asking for your Honey Holes... (I'll figure that out myself!.. beside I have already mapped out some promising spots depending on lake levels) There are times you have to acknowledge you don't know bunk about a particular quarry you're after.... Other than (catching hundreds in the past not on purpose) running a big Paddle wheel Barge Harvestor , cutting and removing Eurasian Watermilfoil, coontail, Broadleaf pond weed, Small leaf pond weed in lakes and reservoirs on the East Coast., I don't know anything about targeting Crappie, and would appreciate whatever you might care to share targeting this species in the (Winter Months). Now that they are closing off.... Nov 1 access to the walk here at Bull Shoals, I want to target Crappie in the Yak/Boat on the lake. I want to learn a new "Skill-set".... that puts tasty morsels in the "Skill-et" ... Your insight would be appreciated! Eric - N9BOW
  10. Look at her tail looks beat up like nesting or maybe just navigating the shallows? Seen lots of dorsal fins in the shallows along the edge in low water... Also seen a few smaller breeding pairs and lots of nesting activity there already... Could that mean an early winter? or is that normal this time of year?.. IDK.. have to do some research unless someone more informed then I has some insight on breeding time on the White.
  11. Saw one like that in the Shallows at the walk in Sunday afternoon before they generated and drove me and the dog out... Could not get him to bite.. Ended up with 10 for that short excursion and a 20" fat rainbow in 30 min of fishing on a brown Jig... No flies this time.... Well done... I wanted to hook that golden I saw.. could be the same one (seeing lots lately).. Also saw one the week before about the same size up against the seam on the very upper end of the state park on the park side of the river.. Caught 3 Tiger trout Sunday morning in the boat on the state park side of the river just above the park. looking forward to wading with you soon! gonna have to do that before they close the section Nov1! Eric - N9BOW
  12. Now that I am a Local I'm looking forward to any date and time you all agree on! Cant wait to spend time on the river, around the table, deep fryer, firepit, back porch, front porch, couch, etc. with good friends (old and new), good food, comradery, Fish stories and the twinkie zone..... Eric - N9BOW
  13. I leave the cat to deal with them! I haven't seen one yet.. but I will post a pick if I do.. I seem to be on a roll here lately. and @Ham I think I am getting familiar with the biting flying things.
  14. And this guy yesterday as well
  15. Just saw my first yesterday
  16. not this way for sure
  17. Broke my Rod there yesterday 4wt not really sure what happened... blew out at second section (4pc. rod) on a hook set Lovely spot.. SWEEET RUBY CHEEKS! U can see my house from there..... (actually just a tad upstream) Send me a PM and I can text you when the horn sounds Hope to see you out there some time!
  18. BTW- They’re not getting very much honey it’s just what’s on the rim. I’m taking these two really old bottles that have crystallized and heat them up in the sun to transfer it together. Figured why not share!
  19. Awesome! Cup of water to cup of sugar! Will do!! I like bees! Use to help my Pop-Pop Getting swarms in the boxes, taking the comb out of the hive, cutting it out of the frames, cutting the caps and spinning… Pop-Pop always let me spin. I think that had something to do with apprenticeship, knowing I’d keep this knowledge alive to pass on to my kids! Have my first Grandson this late fall, winter!!!! I do Miss Him. Anywho, I think I may be too close to the hives! (Thanks!, learned something I did not know.) You can see them in the background… Quite a few. They were getting kind of pushy with one another! 😞
  20. It’s getting really busy real quick!
  21. After they killed off all the clover on the old golf course, the bees are pretty happy to have some easy Pickins!
  22. Had a great time! Ham was almost castrated when that gar jumped right out of the water straight at his wedding tackle. I like the new yak.. She's very stable but there is a trade off on weight and quick turns.. She floated shallow and managed to get through all the same places Ham did except one of the last set of shallow rapids. had to walk it a bit to get to deeper waters. cant wait to do it again.. next time I'll bring the fly rod and spinning gear. Thanks for a great time Ham!
  23. Having grown up fishing for eel and running my grandfathers commercial eel weir, if you are not fishing for them at night you definitely want to do this. They are mostly inactive during the day. we use to use drop lines thrown from the shore as they dont get gnarly knots/birdsnests from the eel spinning as you bring them in. Additionally.. in the fall they (mature adults) begin their run to the Sargasso Sea and after a rain storm they always filled our baskets to the brim.
  24. Any tips on the route would be appreciated. looks like 412/235 to 65/123 or 412 all the way through dog patch and are my options. Would also appreciate any suggestions on food or sites to visit on the way there and back
