Pretty cool deal. Still would like to get rid a few more dams regardless. Mainly for the little species.

Found out that Gary Larson has a website. Thefarside.com

Put this though it is not meant to be funny but contains a lot of humor. Love the Cheers bit.

I would think that it would actually loosen you up 🤣

In SC, at least in Myrtle Beach, you are not allowed to shark fish around or near any of their piers. No live bait and no cut bait larger than 2 " can be used. I think that has more to do about issues with swimmers for potential injury and perception, since you would have to drag the fish out of the water onto the beach.

Have to love needing to hug a big slimy blue cat! Sounds like a great trip.

You guys would have to get out of the boat first !

I don't know what system this guy had, but when snagging a few years we saw a guy with what looked like a 12 by 18 inch screen. Even from a distance we could see paddlefish on his screen. Once located he would run directly at the broadside of each fish. There were 6 folks in the boat. They had three tied to the boat when we got there and snagged at least 8 while we were in the same location. We ended up with two and I failed to snag a single paddlefish.

You have to start asking if using a live scope (use hunting terms) violates the ethics of fair chase. To me it is starting to become like using thermal imaging and night vision goggles to hunt deer. I understand that you still need to put the bait in front of active fish, but you are able to eliminate all of those spots where fish are not very easily. That will greatly increase localized fishing pressure. Just some thoughts.

Another Yankee Capts trip out of Key West FL in 1985. Also a 72 hour trip. Was a multispecies deal for sure. Could fish anytime the boat stopped day or night. Red Grouper - was my largest fish of the trip. One of many yellowtail snapper. I always love it when you hook something and everyone is trying to guess what it is. I got a solid bite and set the hook on something heavy. Everyone was asking how was the fight. I kept saying that it felt like a rock. "must be a black.. big margate… AJ..., etc" Turned out that I was right My buddy and I sold the fish at the dock and it covered the cost of the trip as well as having some fun money in our pockets. Oh before we left we ordered Dominoes and had them deliver to the boat .

Looks fantastic. We did a number of Hank Shaw recipes. Great cook and a nice guy. -
Yankee Capts Cod trip out of Glouchester Mass with my dad and two brothers - 1983. Dave Marciano from Wicked Tuna was likely mate on this trip. 22 lb cod - lost the pool to a 40 lb Hake caught on the last drop of a 3 day trip . Added a 14 lb cod as well. My dad with a nice cod. Was a great trip. Had whales around the boat including a minke whale right next to the boat. Almost got crushed by a freighter in the thick fog the first morning out.

I use Louisiana hot sauce for making my buffalo wing sauce. Not one that I use to add to food. Lately those have been Tapatio or Cholula hot sauces. Really stopped using Tabasco decades ago.

Hurry hurry and get those 10 species. Stop slacking buddy ! 🤣🤣

I have been told before from some generous gifters (see above post) that they don't want those baits to just sit on the shelf and get dusty. Go out and use them!

I have been one of the very fortunate recipient of some @BilletHead specials. They do catch fish even when you throw them with spin gear . Missed out last year catching some fish with his clousers with the fly rod. Thanks buddy you know I will try again this year. Hopefully with Livie catching .

@Phil Lilley I agree that putting on some heavier fluoro like Ham and Gavin suggested would work better than steel. There are some fish that will shy from those premade steel leaders. If you are fishing lures vs bait you should have less issues even with the toothy guys, since hookups will likely be with the bait near the outside of the mouth. You may lose some marabous if a toothy fish inhales the bait even with a fluoro leader. Good luck and can't wait to see the post .
