  1. Haha. Thinking since im adding the deck extension, i may go ahead and just recarpet the whole boat if i cant match the carpet for the extension. Sometimes being a stickler about things isnt good. I may be on the lake today, so if you go testing, hollar.
  2. Thanks Smalls. Will contact them tomorrow.
  3. Good read Bill. Im sure them boys had a blast with those rod jerkin K's. On a side note, i heard Hillary may need a new driver on her mid-west tour.
  4. I have a new in package RAM mount for anyone needing one. It's the 1 1/2" heavy, not the lighter 1". It's a universal mount so will fit most electronics. It has roughly a 6" height. I have 2 on my boat like this, and they work and hold the electronics firm, and with multi adjustments, very handy. I'm in Springfield but fish TR weekly and could bring it on a trip. Or to the OA tourney on the 12th. $45.00
  5. Little tip from Hackney today about spinnerbaits with dirty water..... After the official practice period, Elite Series pro Greg Hackney discusses the chances of a spinnerbait winning the 2016 Bassmaster Classic. Greg Hackney is returning to his bass fishing roots in an effort to connect with the numerous 3 to 5-pound bass that find themselves swimming in exceptionally dirty Bassmaster Classic waters this week at Oklahoma’s Grand Lake o’ the Cherokees. “A spinnerbait is the bait I learned to fish with, but sadly, I could count on one hand the number of bass I’ve weighed-in on it the past ten years,” said the shallow water expert from Louisiana. “But this week, a heavy spinnerbait with that giant No. 7 hubcap-sized Colorado blade just seems to make sense on Grand. “This one is a really heavy 1-ounce Strike King Hack Attack, so I can get it deep enough to where those pre-spawners are suspended and that giant gold blade produces about as much vibration as anything you could tie-on in this muddy water. “I started with a No. 6 willowleaf blade in practice, but I’ll be honest with you; it just wasn’t providing enough ‘thump’ to give me confidence the fish could feel it in that dirty water. So I changed over to that big Colorado blade instead and I’ll promise you they can sense that rolling past ‘em.” As far as the gear required to tow such a heavy, high-vibration beast, Hackney uses a 7-foot, 4-inch Quantum Tour KVD heavy-action rod and a large EXO 200 reel spooled with 20-pound Gamma fluorocarbon line. “It just seems like we seldomnly ever have an Elite Series event anymore that sets up perfectly for spinnerbaits, but with the water being dirty and 46degrees, this could be it,” Hackney warned. “And if that water warms up to the low 50s, look out!”
  6. Anyone have any experience with someone who does boat carpet in the Springfield area?
  7. I agree. This was only the 2nd time in my 27 years of boating that i recall being stranded from batteries. From now on they will all be changed every 2 years, no matter what. So if your looking for 3, 2 year old batteries in March 2018, let me know and there yours.
  8. Steve, I will let him answer, but will give my recent 2 week ago experience. My batteries were bought June 2013. Took the boat out thinking starting battery was getting weak. I launched and went about 2 miles from where i launched. fished for an hour. Went to fire up to head back as it was getting late. Turned the key and it just moaned. Short story is it took me over an hour to get back using the trolling motor. On top of that, the trolling battery dies literally 5' from the dock. So yes, i put 3 new batteries in knowing the others would die soon while i was on the water. Peace of mind goes along way when your on the water often.
  9. Daryk, my house is open to ya if you need a place to stay again.
  10. Hey Smalls, Guys, before I comment on his question, I will say that Smalls is a heck of a guy. He is a Bass Pro employee, and when I dropped my boat off to get the new electronics installed, he went above and beyond "just" being an employee. The installation and service was 1st class. On that trip I purchased a new trolling motor, and had them install it last week. Again, he was very helpful. And just an all around good guy. The guys that install do excellent work. The props did what we thought. I will stop by this morning.
  11. Heck of a way to stay with it guys, and figure things out.
  12. Great report Bill, as always. Were you fishing the A-Rig down deeper, or in the upper water column?
  13. Sounds like a great day. Between Quills shallow fish, and your deeper fish, they are scattered everywhere.
  14. Nice catch. I agree with the color of those fish. Healthy looking
  15. Nice catch. She looked a little cold, but the smile shows she was having fun.
  16. Nice fish. Another bite in the shallows.
  17. That means no rain and sunny 75 degrees. ?
  18. Read this. Especially #5 and then the last paragraph of the page. Try that to start. http://www.vexilar.com/blog/2014/08/28/solving-sonar-interference
  19. Fished the same areas today, with same baits, and nothing. Got out later, at 12:30 and fished til 3. Found a few fish in 25' with a shakey. Man was it beautiful day out, with lots of boats, and a few of the big kind.
  20. Sounds like a productive outing to me Quill. Good looking spot. It's only going to get better.
  21. Thanks guys, it has been tough for me the past 2 weeks. I've fished the Cape area twice and Aunts once and not a bite. My trips have consisted of less than 2 hour trips, with some of that being battery issues that left me stuck 2 miles from the ramp "trolling motor all the way back", so after watching Preys videos the past 2 weeks, I thought I'd give Long Creek a shot, just for the clearer water if anything. That fat fish came on the first cast almost inches from the shore. Caught all 4 in a 30 minute time, then left there to try another area, and nothing. Seen several fish feeding on that point shallow when I pulled up, so it paid off. Going to give it another go this morning with my better half. Enjoy your day on the water, it's going to be nice out, maybe windy later.
  22. Haha, yes this was the 4th trip in 2 weeks, and the first trip where I actually caught a fish. Boat is finished for now, so now it's fish time. Headed out shortly. Sorry your stuck in Ks.
  23. Put in at Long Creek at 9:45. Went to try out a few props and ended up fishing for a little over an hour. Water was between 45.7 and 48.4. I fished a P&J jig, stick bait, and the crank in the pic. Not a bite on anything but the crank. Fished water from 20' to inches. Caught 4 fish with this chunk being the biggest. Every fish came on a point in less than 4' of water near brush.
  24. A lot of our lakes have minimal shoreline fishing, so at times walking a distance to get to a good area would make me want to slow down my fishing, and rest between walks. ? With that said, and depending on time of year, it's hard to beat a Texas rigged worm or jig. Fish on any body of water will eat those from a shore cast.
