    Any Canners?

Ended up making some raspberry jam, pineapple jam, and jalapeno jam. The fruit will be great on ice cream.

    Any Canners?

Gonna make a batch of Jalapeno Jelly this evening. Should be good on crackers with cream cheese.
  3. Heckuva detailed report. Sounds like the 2 of you had an adventure you will remember, especially the 13.1 mile hike. The pictures added alot of realism.

Looks good Quill. Yes weve had a good cucumber season also. Weve been using them in salads, eating raw without the skin, canning them, and giving to friends. Im anxious to try this last batch. We added banana peppers in with the cukes, bell peppers, carrots, peppercorns, etc. Should be a good combo on fish tacos, or mexican food. Wish we would have done some corn to can. Always next year.

    Any Canners?

Our first batch of the year was 8 pints of bread and butter pickles. Opened the first jar last week and they were tasty. We canned a few dill pickles also. Now on to green tomatoes, whole cherry tomatoes, and salsa. We have a few watermelons growing good, and ive been thinking about trying that. Not sure how fruit will do as ive only ever done veggies.

    Any Canners?

Weve been busy the past few weeks putting some away. Today we made jalapeno pickles. We added carrots, bell pepper slices, and dill sprigs. Should be some good spicy flavors. We did one pint of tomatoes with the same brine.
  7. Ol' wrench couldnt have said it better. Any forum owner/mod knows these things, which is why most good places allows people to speak freely, to a degree.
  8. Pomme area is a great vacation place. If your wanting convience, 10 miles south of the lake is Bolivar, a town of 10,000 with everything you need. On the north side is Wheatland and Hermitage. Both small towns where you can find weekend lake homes at an affordable price. If your just looking for camping areas, Nemo, Damsite, Wheatland have good areas.

  10. Good fish rps. Im with your wife on that. Keepers have been hard to come by. Feed guests the drum. ?
  11. Im with Wrench "hard to say". Some bring it on themselves. Honesty is a hard pill for some to swallow. I tease on here, because afterall, it is JUST the interweb. Ask anyone who knows me, and im the first helping in any way. But, im like most, and have things in life im passionate about "handguns and LE, hense why my first sentence" but that doesnt mean i wont piss on your if your on fire. Some just need to remember that tones are very hard to read in a typed comment.
  12. Aggressor has left the bldg. He has been replaced by Jas Long.
  13. Just got back from Cape Fair. Put in at 5:20am. Lots of fog. Caught a few short fish in wacky worm. Trolled Flicker on way back to ramp and picked up a few more. Pretty slow day.

  17. Pet Warehouse i think it is on the corner of Kearney and Kansas has them. Hook them like a grasshopper thru the back.
  18. A buddy went over 2 weeks ago and said he brought back 38 pounds of filets. He said they were really biting.
  19. I believe that after seeing all of the fry swimming around. The next few years should be good for small fish.
  20. Locking a thread because a few cry foul would be silly. I havent seen anything that would constitute it being locked. There will always be those on the wrong end of something that get their feelings hurt.
  21. My first trip down in May i put in at K-Dock, fished in light rain, and caught several fish, with a few keeps. This trip i struggled. I can catch fish on the Rock, but Shoals, with the water over the treetops, busted my butt.
  22. That was the plan Ham, until i seen the old shoreline was in 40'. I found very few areas where the water was fishable under 20'. Oink Oink. I should have ordered one if those. Maybe THAT is what you caught your fish on, and not a jig.
  23. Holy cow Batman, Had a tourney out of Diamond City, Ark. yesterday. When the locals say water is up in the trees, they know what their speaking of. I didnt know where to start. Do you fish tree tops that you see 8' under water full of leaves, pitch that small opening between trees to the back of the opening, sit out in 130' of water throwing 30yards towards shore with a spoon? This was my second time on BS, the first being May. The last week i studied lake maps, had a few spots picked out from reading reports online in the East Sugarloaf Creek area, and thought i had a game plan. That was until i seen the lake. How in the world do you guys that fish there do so with any success? A few of the guys caught decent fish, but said it was tough. Next is TR and hope water is down some by end of Aug.
