  1. Dang wrench you shoulda went with someone who knew their business. 😜 My season is just starting, but have shot 3 since Sept, 2 of those with my bow. The guys i hunt with are keen to the property "ranch" we hunt. A typical winter we will shoot roughly 20 between our group outings and going out alone. This is on a 10,000 acre ranch north of Springfield that runs lots of cattle. The 4 of us are life long predator hunters/callers. One of the guys has his own show on Sportsman Channel "not hard to figure out who he is" and is a world champion caller. I love every sit i do, just as much as i do bow hunting or fishing. Then to call in a bobcat or fox makes it like catching a bass over 7 pounds. But this airgun stuff is fun as heck. Tomorrow is supposed to be 60 but windy. Planning on shooting atleast 100 down the Hatsan to get it wore in. On some coyote sits i take a shotgun and rifle. Wonder if i could get by with the 25 cal. for upclose instead of the shotgun? Just for the thrill of shooting one over a call with an air gun.
  2. Now that would depend on a guys tastes. I need a new 22-250 for coyotes. I have owned and like the Remington 700 ADL in 22-250 which a guy can pick up new with optics for less than $500. Or another gun i own and like is the Savage Axis in 223 for under $500 without optics. So for what i have in this latest airgun i could have bought a nice predator shootin machine.
  3. True. But a guys gotta be careful or he will go down with the ship. When i started that first thread about airguns, i said i wouldnt let the price get compariable to a big boy gun, or i would just buy the big rifle. Well i have right at $500 into the Hatsan. How i justify it to myself, is by saying i can shoot it in town "while hiding from the neighbors", its cheap to shoot, its a way to stay actively shooting throughout the year, its fun to shoot, etc. So many airguns are on my radar, but i believe the RWS 34 in 22cal is my next purchase. German made, accurate, beautiful wood stock. Im thinking that will finish out my collection of one gun in each caliber. I will keep an extra Gamo or 2 around incase a buddy needs something to shoot.
  4. The german airguns as a whole are top notch. The Feinwerkbau, The Diana, The Weihrauch, and so on are tops in the industry. They have the hefty price tag to show.
  5. Yes, everything i read "which is alot" about the german made guns/parts as a whole are superior to anything else made anywhere. Its the grade of their steel that makes it better. i have a buddy here that makes hunting knives as a side hobby/income. In the past when he would start talking about german steel, it would go in one ear and out the other, because i figured steel is steel, right? Well getting into this airgun stuff, and reading about barrels made in germany from guys who know their stuff, made me start reading more into it.
  6. Came upon a site where they rated some of the best break barrel rifles of all time. One gun kept popping up, the Walther LGV. From the web: The original Walther LGV was a match rifle produced in the late 1960s and early 1970s. It was the pinnacle of Walther's breakbarrel target rifles. I have got to quit this obsession over wanting different air guns!!!! Looks at these prices of a few of the Walther brands.
  7. That first video was hideous!!! Dumb rednecks. Those kids in the other video know their stuff, and have a plan BEFORE setting out to harvest the animal.
  8. Good points. Man i can tell you have dug deep in this airgun world. I warned ya at the beginning you would get addicted. The guys shooting heavier lead in the 25's say that their groups arent as tight, but the impact is far more noticeable. I guess if im getting a mix of good speed and energy then leave it alone. Us guys have a hard time not tweaking stuff tho. That new rail mount i put on is perfect. I dont foresee any issues at all. The stop pin sets nicely in the hole to keep it in place.
  9. Hey BH, My shooting better get a little tighter group or squirrell burger is all that will be left. Can wait to run a tin down the barrel so it gets to its comfort breakin range. Hoping the nice weather the next few days allows that. I dont think this 25cal will have an issue dropping one in its tracks. Its a hard hitter
  10. Thanks for that info wrench. So 40 yards POI is what i will do Tue. Its supposed to be nice and 48 out. I need to shoot more rounds before i sight the scope in but it was shooting 3" high and 3" right with those shots. Considering stepping up to a 31 grain pellet for more kenetic energy before sighting scope in. That will knock my speed down a bit but will hit harder. Almost pulled the trigger last night on a Hatsen 135 Vortex in 22cal. as im wanting to add the 22 like i mentioned before, but luckily they were out of stock at PA. They did have a 30 cal. in stock. 🤔
  11. More pictures
  12. Hatsan 125 in 25cal. Stopped by Tractor Supply and picked up a catalog with 353 pages. Had a Sunbelt Rental catalog with 314 pages. Set up at 19 yards and fired 6 shots. The first 3 being with the TS catalog alone. After checking and seeing the blowthru, i stuck the Sunbelt behind it. The deepest penetration out of the 3 other shots stopped at page 85. Beyond that were another 16 pages of 2" tears where the impact tore them without pellet penetration into those pages. The pellets were still in remarkable shape considering going thru 438 pages. I noticed the 3rd shot thru both penetrated further than the second shot, which penetrated further than the first. The gun hasnt been shot much. Im thinking with 10 moreshots maybe another 15 pages deep. These catalogs were solid against a piece of plywood, so pretty solid objects to shoot thru. The exit of each shot was HUGE for a pellet of this size. The picture with my finger sticking thru isnt tight in the hole. That blow thru hole is impressive. your thought?
  13. Failed to mention that Lawyer donated an original custom painted W.W that brought $100. I stopped at $95. All for the kids
  14. The Willard Highschool Fishing Team put on a chili fundraiser today. Scott Berry is the team coach and did a great job today. Started off with Randy Blaukat speaking on jerk baitin'. Never been to an event where he was present, but got the feeling the guy knows a thing or two about fishing. He gave an excellent speech to those in attendance. Next was James Watson. Being the funny guy he is, he did well with speaking to the youth about setting goals, and financially setting yourself up to chase your fishing dream. Talked a bit about his dock spoon fishing. Great presentation by James. Next was Jeremy Lawyer. Another local guy that can hold his own. He talked about jig fishing, and what it takes to be a professional fisherman. The 4th guy was Bobby "dont remember last name". They had a coach from the Drury fishing team there. Guys, let me tell you something. These young kids coming up in this day and time have no clue how good they have it, if they will do whats right. I didnt know it, but Drury pays 100% of all fishing related fees. Now thats 100% guys. Entry fees, fuel for boat AND pulling rig, fishing tackle, etc.... For us older guys, we had to learn how to fish, well before being able to hop on the internet, and learn how to drop-shot in 30 minutes on youtube. The chili "probably 10 different kinds" was awesome. They had desserts, drinks, a silent auction "i won the zoo family passes", and you got to hang with a few lical pros for 4 hours. Cant think of a better way to spend a Saturday than donating to a cause like this.
  15. I was up all night with a sick youngster. I read an article that made sense, in relation to boats. It said that pellets from any airgun will shoot faster in cold weather. I know boats run faster in cold water. It says that springer guns will still compress the same energy as it will during warm weather. Its the pellet that is more effected by the temps.
  16. Dont be this kid.
  17. Just ordered 2 of these 1 piece mounts. One for the Hatsan and the other for the Accu177. Be here Thur. just in time to mount and shoot Sunday.
  18. Nice. 10" barrel. The stats show 40 consistent shots with one cartridge. Not sure im ready to dable with the handgun yet, but im known for changing my mind hourly. Adding a red dot or other optics?
  19. Yea, not enjoyable at all with frozen fingers. Sunday supposed to be 43, possible rain tho. I will be sighting in for sure. Gonna shoot another 100 before messing with the scope. What pistol did you order? I did that at the house im remodeling. Thunked a couple tree rats out that window so far.
  20. You better get out and shoot out the window of that heated shop
  21. Same to ya C4F. Its chilly out so im messing with guns.
  22. Exactly. Seen a newb agent ticket 2 landowners with feeders against a property line just to prevent their neighbor from hunting his own property. A guy can never go wrong adding a food plot. Any advantage to draw deer to your area is better than sitting blind. I also plan on putting in atleast 2, 3 acre plots.
  23. Congrats Seth. Yep i havent seen much on camera last check. Seen 2 this weekend heading to Tx. that were in the 150" class feeding. That was southern Oklahoma.
