Sorry guys, little bored this evening, so my thoughts are coming out.
As I pulled out of my driveway today, I watched 6 deer eating under an oak tree. My thoughts turned to: Ready for the rant part?
So, when a person buys property, they pay taxes on that land, interest on the loan, money to maintain that property, insurance, and those are the basics. Add to that list any food plots, pond building, cleanup, etc. and a person will have a lot of money invested, all while paying taxes on everything purchased to maintain/grow that property.
Currently the property owner has the opportunity to receive farm tags, thru the agency that controls, slaughters, maintains the deer herd in the state. In order to receive those tags, the property owner has to give a name, address, property size to receive them. So if I own the property, build/plant/grow food on my property, to attract wild animals to it, why does the MDC need my personal info?
Other than to track land owners, individuals, I cannot think of a reason they need it, nor a reason a property owner needs tags. Simply set a harvest limit, and let the honest landowners abide by those, without the feeling of being “watched”.
