Thanks Quill. Lots of good info there. Looks like alot of 10 to 20 acre sunflower fields. I have a few dairy fields here that im going to set up on. Those usually have birds coming and going often. Just like deer camp, bird camp is a great time to socialize with the buddies. But even better, you can chat and shoot at the same time.

Sounds like my experiences in Ca. We spent opening week for years hunting ag. fields. We would stand in the concrete water drainage ditches and would see more birds, and have more fun before noon, than i've seen in 20 years in Mo. I have a spot marked in Oklahoma. May try that. Lots of family in N. Tx. so can haul the boat down there and fish Texoma in the mornings, and hunt afternoons. Kansas shows potential also. Bird counts the past 2 years weren't the best tho. Either way, it will be an adventure.

Driving down the gravel road, i noticed a few doves feeding on the gravel. Got me thinking about the upcoming season. Didnt make it out one day last year, but this year im hoping to change that. Been researching the best bordering state to dove hunt, as far as bird numbers, and public ground. Thinking of taking a 3 or 4 day trip early season. Anyone hunt doves out of state?

Selecting A Truck For Fishing Boat...
Ketchup replied to DLM84's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
10 bags of 80# concrete placed near the tailgate will feel and handle way differently than that same weight placed against the cab. Thats an obvious statement, but your comments are making me feel i should point that out. 👍 -

Yes there are. Any certain area of the lake you want to be on?
-
Luckily for both of us, i hate fishing that lake. Ask any of my club members. Since i set the schedule every year, Tablerock may get replaced with another one day. Pomme it is after you win/lose your upcoming challenge.

Im 100% with you guys on no docks make for a much more pleasant natural lake. But, without them, i couldnt get those huge spoons caught on the canvas of big pretty boats, because there would be no boat parked in the way of MY fishing waters.
-
Thats 8 foot by 10 foot? Now paint that sucker pink with lime green letters, and it will get the attention of every lake goer within a mile to cone to your dock, just to check out the pretty sign. And you may get a few new lures hung up on the canopy as a thank you.

Come on now, i know YOUR skin is thicker than that!! Didnt mean that comment as a jab. Just saying that being on that list isnt something that impresses me. Now shooting those little dinos that you do, now you've got my attention there. You wont have to "let" me beat ya at fishing. That comes natural. 😜
-
Well, if everyone was like you, how boring of a life would i have? No thanks!
-
Champ, top ranked as far as what? Number of posts? Likes? That screenshot doesn't impress me in the least. Heck, if you and wrench are both on there, then im pretty sure im happy im not. 👍 So whats the answer? Ask Phil to make the site viewable to members only? I believe you will get alot of new people to join that way, but they will only do it to read the content, as you stated. Maybe make it to were, as a member you have to post weekly to stay active, or your membership is in pause? Im on a few sites that do just that. Those that are here posting hourly, daily, weekly will do so because they enjoy it. Those that join if the site was private, will fall into that paused membership status pretty quickly. Tho my pro-active brain says to comment on your last paragraph, i will refrain for the sake of politeness. 😜

Launched at Masters at 6:30pm. Decent breeze from the south. Fished the east side of the island with a keitech, with no luck. Ran straight south to the point with the boulders. 3rd cast with the texas rigged worm landed a 16" fish. Moved west a few points and talked another into biting the keitech. He had a wound on his back, that made me feel bad for him. You could see from the outside, into his insides thru the hole. Ran back to the ramp area and picked up a smallie on the worm. Great evening to be out enjoying the beauty. Not many fish caught in the 2 hours, but memories were made. Off the water at 8:20.

Good to see you made it back. We have our club tourney at Aunts next saturday. I will be down a few days this week. Great to see the neighbor catching fish.

So many different format types a guy could use with this concept. Watson/Sprague fished two 90 minute sessions, with a 30 minute break between. They actually shortened the break due to the rain. This is a great way for those that havent fished tournaments due to their feelings on relocating fish, and would like that 1 on 1 concept for the ribbing rights until you meet again. I suck at fishing. Been bass fishing over 35 years, and still at the bottom of the learning pit, but im always up for a challenge. I will even travel out of state if challenged. Great way to meet some of the guys here in person, that we may not otherwise do. And if i get lunch after bought for me, then i came out on top. I will make sure i bring enough cash for your lunch tho. "above paragraph". If you are interested in the rules used by others, log onto BassZone and check it out. Really cool concept for a friendly 1 on 1. See ya on the water.
-
I have a boat, fuel, and always ready to travel. Keep me on your list when your back on the water buddy.
-
The object is to beat a guy on his home waters, if your good enough. Hence why Sprague drove up from Tx. to fish against Watson on TR. As with 99% of the things i involve myself in with life, its all about the fun of it. I just figured since you fished the elite side of things for years, won your share, and dont post much info here, i would see if you were up to the challange. No harm to foul. On to the next of the list.

Official Ozark Anglers Fantasy Fishing League 2018
Ketchup replied to abkeenan's topic in Table Rock Lake
Very few on tour that is as versatile as Wheeler. He would be a great pick every trip. Need to read what i just wrote, because im lost the last 2 weeks. -
Perfect choice. I will be ready with bells and whistles on.
-
Wait. No fly rods if im involved. Might as well give me a noodle.
-
heck yea. I never turn down that type of fun.
-
I thought you may find a victim to challenge in this format.
-
Nice fish. I was tempted to tie one on yesterday since they are chasing shad like crazy. If the rain holds off tomorrow, i will try a shallow jerk up close.
-
The format that Watson and Sprague fished the other day was a perfect way to step up, and as they say "put up or shut up". I, like a few here, love to rib guys. Its what fun is about. Not in a mean or hateful way, but in a deer camp kind of way. With that said, there are some here i would love to have a little 1 on 1 against, for one of us to either "Put up or shut up". Pretty sure there's that one guy, or multiple, that makes you grin in a negative way, or that guy that jumps on every thread, that never has anything positive, nor attributes other than to run his mouth. So this thread will be a start for you to call out that guy, for a friendly fishoff to see who's crap stinks worse. Challenger picks body of water, times "start, end, how many hours", launch location. Both can agree on a day. Since i wouldnt trust a fisherman with my dull pocket knife, each angler would choose who was the ref. in the other guys boat, to keep it fair like, ya know. I have an MLF type scale that keeps track of all weights weighed, etc. and each boat would need their own. If you stay in a cell area, it could even be live streamed if that interest ya, for guys here to watch. So, the guy on the top of my list is Champ. Nothing personal against the guy, but comes off as knowing his stuff, but rarely do i see any info offered to anyone. So my challenge is to you Champ. Let me know if you will except it, and we will move forward. Money on the line is always an option.

But your interpretation of what that "no fishing within 50 feet" of every dock out there, that is not a legal sign, obviously placed there by a dock owners assoc. to fool guys like you, doesnt hold water with me. Now if it were, as stated, on a marina with fuel, and or, food that would be a tad bit different. But the docks aarchdale asked about is none of those. So no laws broken, therefore your more than welcome to come fish side by side with me anytime.
