  1. Yes the Wild Acres park is C&R until Jan. 31st. Feb. 1st you are allowed 4 keepers. According to their park website this little pond is spring fed too. There's a few areas where the water was bubbling up and a fountain towards the center where the fish were holding. About 1/4 of the lake was covered in muck, and you had to cast out over quite a bit of water grass and weeds, but nothing unmanageable. Nice little park which once I got there I remembered fishing there with my dad when I was just a little kid.
  2. Just got back, Hooked 3 landed 2 on a white rooster tail. Fish were biting good for my coworker as well. He hooked 5 or 6 on a small spoon. MDC said they put 500 in this particular lake. This will be a nice little spot this winter to get away for a bit here or there when work allows. Not a bad lunch break at all and the weather is beautiful out there today.
  3. So I've seen people do the same at all of the trout parks... Last time I was at Taney I watched a group of foreigners net fish out of Outlet 1 and run up the stairs with their catch. Stupid is everywhere... If the fact I can drive five minutes for an hour of fishing to get out of the office to relax a bit = "stroking my fishing ego" then I guess I am guilty of that.
  4. Vlasis park in Ballwin was apparently stocked by the pic my buddy sent me yesterday of a decent size fish. I am heading to Wild Acres Park in overland this afternoon on my lunch break just to check it out.
  5. Thanks for the report. Weather supposed to be really nice this weekend and I got 3 more days till I get back in the water... The low 02 levels are concerning. Was hoping they might have improved from last month.
  6. That is a boatload o scuds at the 1:35 mark. Thanks for posting Phil.
  7. Nice! Thanks for the report, and that's a beautiful brown. Hope this warmer weather holds out for next weekend too.
  8. That's awesome work you and your team are doing there Billet! Hats off to you and the Mrs. You guys are a true inspiration, and you put the faith back in humanity for me.
  9. Awesome ideas guys, thanks so much, and never thought about using the patches that stick on. I honestly have never minded the cold with fishing. Until the hands get wet and start stinging. We have a family trip every year in November to Branson, and its a nice to get out on the water at night or in the early morning for some peace and quiet before the family adventures of the day begin.
  10. Love my shirt, one recommendation would be maybe a grey or black variety. Wearing white while fishing its hard to keep them looking nice :)
  11. Awesome catch and congrats! Remember when he sleeps you sleep!!! Best advice ever given to me, besides the Routine Routine Routine. Fishing buddy for life there.
  12. Thats a dandy Brown, sporting the lipstick look . Nice report. The White is on my list to finally get down there and fish it. Thanks for sharing.
  13. Welcome my Cuz! Our trip was amazing that is for sure. You will love this place. It's a wealth of knowledge and a bunch of great like minded individuals.
  14. Yeah I posted in another thread about thinking the 02 levels were low just for how long it was taking to revive our fish and their behavior. Also saw 5 dead browns down by outlet 7 in the higher grassy marsh stuff. Could of been from anything but they were there and pretty fresh. As for the gar I landed one Friday night. I've seen gar before down there, but this was my first that I actually caught without snagging them accidentally.
  15. Thanks for the replies guys. I'm going to try the wool for sure. Off to Google the patagonia ones as well although I'm guessing there's some sticker shock there. I do use hothands and but them in bulk lol.
  16. Yeah I have done the surgical gloves before with the cotton fingerless over the tops. Works ok, but I agree Flysmallie I am looking for a unicorn. I was thinking if I could get a really nice base layer insulated latex glove then use a Pelagic quick dry type material over the top that might work... Thanks for the advice guys, if I cant buy them maybe I can build them!
  17. Reading through the rules sparked some ideas with me Phil. Just sent ya an IM. Rules look great though.
  18. So I have a few trips planned for this winter and after my last experience with "waterproof" gloves I am looking for something better. I bought a mid priced $40 pair at BassPro and they sucked. Poor insulation and they leaked at the seams. Lasted about 20min before I took them off completely. I'm looking for something Insulated, waterproof, yet still usable to where I do not have to keep taking them on and off. If I can find a pair that meets this criteria I'm not concerned about budget. I'd like to find a pair that is thin enough I could still tie with them on, but I am guessing thats a long shot... What have you all tried and whats working for you. Open to all suggestions. Thanks,
  19. We fished Saturday evening and caught a few more. Exhaustion from the 16hr Friday night/ Saturday marathon set in around midnight and we called it quits. Since we did not have much success Saturday morning we decided to bug out and hit Bennett Springs Sunday morning as my cousin wanted to get some meat to take home. We also didn't see much being caught other than a few by the outlets. Was one of the slower weekends I've seen down there, but man we saw some monsters out there Saturday night. Saw one that had to be 25+ inches, sadly they weren't very active and we couldn't get them to budge. Got 2 more weeks and then I get another shot at them for my last trip of the year!
  20. So this past weekend when we were fishing I saw about 5 dead browns Saturday down by outlet 7 in the marshy grass there. Also the fish we were catching even keeping them in the water during release were really struggling. I heard some folks talking about low O2 levels and it definitely made sense. We took allot of extra time reviving our fish and then would watch them to make sure they were ok, but even then they would swim out a few feet and sit on the bottom really gassed out... After the first couple we stopped taking them out of the water altogether even for just a second to take pics. Could definitely tell with their behavior that something was up and there were not as many active fish around as other times I've been down there.
  21. I would love to do this. Management of the wade guys may be a bit hard to do. Need some umpires at the outlets lol
  22. Caught 4 more on cream and olive 1/32 maribous with orange head. This guy put up a great fight and smoked my jig hard
  23. Crazy gar is angry gar!
  24. Dnj21 we are heading back down for round 2 now. Hoping for better luck for this round. Fly rods are coming out lol. Good luck.
  25. Must have missed ya. We finished up with 12 total. 8 on white maribous. Then some crackle backs and San Juan worm. Caught 3 bows right around 20 inches, one silver bow took me for a ride. Caught 2 Browns the biggest was a nice 16 inches. I'm in a red hoodie if ya see me. The bite stopped at dawn and yes it sure was packed. We are going to the hatchery as this is my cousins first time down.
