I typically run the smaller size jigs on 2lb line and fish them fast jigging through slow water to swim them. And then drift and just pop them through faster water. They are great producers on fish that typically only see fly rod presented baits, and generate some aggressive bites.
-
Bring your waders too if you got them. They not only make a good wind break and insulator in the winter, but you never know when you'll hit that skinny water and want to hop out.
-
I've caught trout all over US on jigs. They work well out west and on east coast too, from tiny creeks to big tail waters. Caught plenty of bass and bream on them too.

Congrats to you both! I'm jonesing to get out... got allot on my plate though, and hunting priorities right now lol

Thanks Mic and Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all my OAF friends.

Looks like a great trip buddy! Thanks for sharing. -

Hey, bald is beautiful amiright sir? I can edit my posts, but you look so dang happy 😊 😆 John you were brought up a few times. Especially after this little cutt got ambitious. This was definitely one of my favorite jigfest. Lots of laughs, comradeeri, and a bunch of love from Rick. Just not that kind of love according to him haha. I miss you guys already, but I'm have leftovers from jigfest tonight to channel my recent fishing brothers MOJO.

Cody and I were last out of the cabin this morning after saying farewell to our fishing brethren. We headed to state park at bull and was met with an empty ramp. We put it ran across to bluff side and immediately started catching fish. We were burning jigs in crazy fast and getting some great reactionary bites. Me made a bunch of runs and caught a bunch of dumb ones before we called it quits. Was a blast and good way to end the trip.

Fishing was tougher yesterday. We fished below bull and caught fish by not like we were hoping... lots of small fish and some heavily stained water. we're going to give it a try today on the way home.

Fuel system issue, but I'm sure he'll elaborate. I was just happy to not curse that boat... have had a run of being in boats that end up with issues. Gonna be a rainy one today. I bet we find them biting though

Place holder. As usual we are starving... Banner day today. Caught a ton of fish. Very Brett got a slam with a beautiful Tiger out of Rim shoals. Fished wildcat this morning. Had back strap and flat head for dinner which as usual was just terrible...

A great stuffing was had tonight to start jig fest. After blowing a tire on 44 with no spare I had a tow to St. James to start my trip... My 4 hour drive turned into a cold wet 6.5 hour adventure but I finally made it after 2 more hours in the crazy fog tonight Cody did up some chicken wings, home made sausage, and some jalapeño bread for dinner tonight followed by Rick's pineapple bunt cake and some cheesecake. We're already eating like kings followed up with some much needed beer and whiskey. Was great catching up already and we're all pumped for breakfast and fishin tomorrow.

I got all the plates, cups, silverware, and such.

I can prolly be convinced to drink a yuengling or 10 😆 After this crappy work week I could sure use it. I'm super looking forward to seeing you all.
-
Yes sir, I'll be there Thursday between 4 and 5 depending on traffic and pit stops
-
Will any of you have cast iron? Or do we need charcoal for the grill? I'm thinking I'll bring a back strap to do up for us instead of burgers. Maybe bacon wrap that sucker to boot. Cheese cake components are secured and will be getting constructed in the AM. I too will likely be down around 4 or 5 tomorrow.
-
I'm looking forward to it sir!

Pretty sure it was a stump, but yeah I'm a big baby in moving water in a boat. Go figure standing in it, in the freezing dark, in the middle of nowhere doesn't bother me at all, just the control freak in me I guess...
-
I'm still gun shy from Rock Hopping with Doty... High water jigfest I had the luck to be in 2 boats who had motor issues in the crazy flow... I guess I'm cursed 😆

I agree on price and thanks for the reminder Rick. Also for us MO boys don't forget your 3 day license before you enter the land of no cell service 😉
