  1. It was too much rain for me today so my son and son-in-law went out of Cape Fair. They went out at 7:30 and promptly caught the SM keeper in the attached picture. They just returned. they caught 10 total with 4 keepers (2 SM & 2 LM). all fish were caught on the WW. If you look close you can see the color of the WW on the end of his line by his side. (this is the same color of WW that he caught them the last 2 days too) Mike
  2. Champ, on Wednesday we were by Bridgeport. Yesterday we were at KC. Mike
  3. My son and I decided to fish the KC area Thanksgiving Day before the family dinner. We put in around 7:30 am and immediately noticed the water was much clearer than the James River. We could see about 10' down. We fished until 3pm. The one keeper fish my son caught is in the picture attached. He caught it on a WW on a gravel bank in 5fow. WT was 60. We only caught 4 fish total and the others were SM in the 14" size but they were fun. While the catching wasn't all that great, the time on the water was fun.
  4. My son and I got on the water around 11am. We trolled the 2 coves towards the bluff. After about 90 minutes without a bite, we decided to head towards Flat Creek. But the big motor's battery wouldn't cooperate. So while I went on a trip to buy a battery, my son caught the 4.2 seen in the picture below on the gravel in about 4fow on a WW. We changed batteries and fished crankbaits till about 4pm. just went a few coves either side of the 76 bridge. Never did make it up to Flat Creek. We caught a total of 16. Most were LM, one SM and 2 spots. 3 were nice keepers. Pictures of the 2 largest are attached. Yes you will notice that I fished out of the back of the boat and my son caught the keepers. WT was 57. All of our fish came from less than 10fow. Water color was good with about 2' visibility. Tried a jig, WP, SB and swimbait. All fish came on either a WW, RC or DT 10. It was a good day spending time with my son. Mike
  5. Longball, nice report. We were out yesterday and stayed within a couple of miles of 13 bridge. My son and I were in the maroon Ragin Cajun with the Johnson motor. Now that I am at my computer I can post a report with some pictures. Not a lot of keepers but had fun before dinner time. Mike
  6. Quill, I agree that most of the time the senior leadership leaves and with a nice severance too. There is a reason that BPS bought them. Only time will tell. Mike
  7. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. We have so much to be thankful for including all the friends we've met on this forum. mike
  8. We were in the maroon Cajun fishing the coves next to Bridgeport. That was my blue ram truck next to the jeep. I'll post a note about our fishing when I get to the computer. Sounds like you were flexible in your approach today Mike
  9. Bill, thanks for the information. My son and I were just talking about catching bass that way. Stay in the gut until your electronics light up and then drop something down to them and hold on. Mike
  10. Archdale, were you in the white jeep at Bridgeport ramp? mike
  11. 176champ, I sent you a PM. Mike
  12. Bo, thanks for the report. Sounds like a real nice trip. Mike
  13. Thanks Bo. Mike
  14. Hammer, thanks for the report. Great pictures. I'll be up around flat creek today and hope I have as good a day. Mike
  15. Bo, thanks for the report. What was the water temp? I'm going tomorrow and trying to get a feel for the current WT since last Friday. Mike
  16. Champ188 & Hammer, I already tied on the jig, crank bait and spinner bait yesterday in preparation for Wednesday. If anyone sees us up there I will be the one with a left arm about 3" longer than the right arm from all the casting I will be doing. Mike
  17. 176Champ, I'm going with my son also. He is driving down on Wednesday morning from STL so we probably will not get on the water till after noon. He has fished the upper James this time of year in the past and is excited about doing it again. We will probably put in near the 76 bridge and head towards Flat Creek or further up. Fishing with our sons is always a good time. Catching fish is the icing. Good luck. Mike
  18. I plan on going up the James River on Wednesday and south of Baxter on Thursday morning for a few hours. I'm thinking the WT might be in the low 50s and hopefully a little stained. My plan is to throw a square bill, swim bait, spinner bait, jig and ned. I hope to have some nice pictures to post on Friday. Good luck to all who can wet a lure this week. Mike
  19. Quill, I just placed an order for them. Thanks for the alert. Mike
  20. Dave, well put. Risk versus reward. I'll be hitting it hard thanksgiving weekend. Mike
  21. Hammer, nice report thanks. Pictures look good. Mike
  22. Thanks for the report. Nice pictures. Fish sure look healthy. Mike
  23. Quill, I sent you a PM. Mike
  24. Thank you to everyone who joined the chat room last night. I think we had 23 at one time on there. I learned a few things about swim baits. I am thankful for the fishing knowledge of the OAF members and their willingness to share. Mike
  25. Richy, you sure know your swim baits. which one does the bass like the best? Mike
