Yep on the an bite. I recommend using a trailer hook because they hit it fast and hard but sometimes miss. Vernon, sounds like a good time. Good luck today. Sorry we didn't get to meet this week but I was only able to get out Saturday and Thursday for a couple of hours launching from State Park and I stayed down that way. The dam area should be clearer today because my boat collected a lot of the gunk in the water it was a mess when I took out yesterday I had to scrub it down to remove the water line Mike

What a difference a few days make. If you want to see some color in the water in the dam area now is the time to come and see it. I launched from the State Park marina as Moonshine is still closed. Fished for a few hours and caught only 1 keeper LM and 18 dinks. Mixture on the dinks. Keeper and the bigger fish were caught on a spinnerbait near the walkways leading to docks. WT was 67 - 70 when I took out at 11:30. Water was dirty for the dam area. 2' visibility in most areas. Most of the dinks were caught on the Ned on secondary points. I switched from a PBJ to a gp/orange and started catching them. Mike

MoBass, those courtesy walkway docks are usable. Parking is ok but missing a few slips due to high water. Mike

Very well thought out membership levels. You forgot to mention the senior membership. Most of us seniors can't remember three days later where we fished last in the mystery cove so we are rarely a threat to the fish population. Which is why I keep posting soon after fishing there but following my senior membership rule of not mentioning the cove by name. Mike

Maybe these warm days will stabilize the water, moving the fish into the new shallows and the TW bite turns on. That would be one of the few times to put down the Ned. Mike

Vernon, a good day for sure. I agree it is hard to put down the Ned when you consistently catch fish on it. Did the water temp rise any? Mike

Vernon, second thing I noticed was the water temp cooled a few degrees. Put that into the mix. But with the temps in the 80s the next few days, those fish just might move into the flooded shallows. Keep your eyes open for shad activity. Mike

What Vernon said. We got in early and had no congestion. When we were taking out there were 4 youngsters at the ramp. It looked like they were taking an older ranger out but it was cockeyed on the trailer so they just kind of blocked the ramp trying to decide what to do. We left before disaster struck. One of them took off his shirt and went in the water past his waist. He told the others the water was cold. 61 degrees is cold but when you're 19-20 sometimes your decision making ability is clouded. Patlock and I put in at the State Park at 6am. We fished that cove on the other side of the lake. The one with no fish. Anyway we managed to catch about 40 (mix of SM & KY) 5 of which were solid keepers. No keepers after 8:30 though. Fish were caught on the old shoreline to 22'. So if the lake is still 14' high we sat in 35 - 40' and threw Shakey Heads and Neds towards the old bank. I had a couple follow a spinnerbait but no bites. Most fish caught on points or within a cast of the Point. We returned all the fish to the water including the 2 pet keepers we caught near a certain dock. WT was 61.5 to 62.4. Got off the water at 11am. Mike

I drove by the dam area ramps today. Moonshine, the state park, the state park marina and that old ramp at the end of Dale road off 265 are all blocked off and closed. Now that Indian Point ramp is closed I am not sure where I can launch to fish near the dam. Mike

I just celebrated our 48th wedding anniversary and my wife Mary just started going fishing with me now that we are down here at TRL full time. But she refuses to throw anything but a Ned. I'm hoping to get her on a TW bite in the next 5 days. I think once she has a blow up on a top water she will want to throw it too. Mike

I was wondering if you could use the 2x6 composite boards instead of wood but still put the carpet on the composite. Anyone ever tried it? Thoughts? Mike
