  13. Bobby b,

I was wondering about the underwater light.  I've often thought of going scuba diving again just to see some stuff under the water so I was wondering if the light you created allows you to see structure, ledges, trees, fish, etc. in the clear water of TR.

      Mike, A couple things.

      1) My youngest son and I took our beginning scuba test at the Beaver darn about 8 years ago.  I was told that it was as clear as it gets around here.  At about 30 ft I could clearly see the instructor giving me instructions for my test.

      2) Our dock sits in about 30 ft of water (where I tested the light.)  About two times a year for a few days each time the water clears so well that we can see the bottom clearly including the tools I have dropped in the water.

I guess I would dive during these prime times during the daytime and not need a light.

  14. Vernon, you are correct. I was just testing your old school knowledge. Mike
  15. bobby b, how was the view 20 feet down? Mike
  16. Vernon, sounds like the Jim Croce song, "Cat's in the Cradle". For years I had the lyrics on my dresser while my kids were growing up. It was a daily reminder that I wanted to spend time with them. My son designs and builds haunted houses and escape rooms and turned out to be a pretty good fisherman. My 2 daughters turned out to be pretty successful in their careers also. But best of all my wife and I are friends with our children. We actually like to be around each other. So when you said that, it reminded me of my greatest success. Mike

    Vernon,

Did you play on the KU team with Rueben Shelton?  He became a lawyer and I worked for him when he was at the electric utility in St. Louis.  Last I heard he was working for Monsanto in St. Louis.

I remember him but think he was a little after me.  I think he came in around '75?  I can remember playing pickup games with him in the summers after I'd left.  My freshman class was Dale Greenly, Rick Suttle, Tommy Smith, Marshall Rodgers and Mike Fidelke.  Fidelke only played two years but was a really good golfer and made the switch after his sophomore year.

Marshall Rodgers transferred to Pan American after his sophomore year and led the nation in scoring his junior and senior years.  He left because Ted Owens wanted him to draw charges instead of shooting.

After going to the Final Four the previous year, the varsity was pitiful my freshman year.  Bud Stallworth and Tommy Kivisto were pretty much it.  Only won about 10 games if I remember right.  Made it back to the Final Four my junior year but I had transferred out by then.  Not a smart move at the time but young and stupid ya' know?

Brady Morningstar's dad Roger was on that'74 team if you remember him.  Also Danny Knight, Norm Cook and Donnie Von (Ugly) Moore along with the guys from my freshman class.

Thanks for the note though!  Kind of a little trip down memory lane.

Rueben always talked about his KU days.  He was very proud being a Jayhawk.  Even though he was from Missouri. KU basketball has certainly been a force. One of the few teams out there that still shoots the ball and doesn't rely on dunks all the time.  Exciting to watch.

  25. I know that this is not a fishing request but I trust the people on this forum regarding recommendations. I am looking for someone to give me a bid to brush hog under the power lines that cross my property. It is off Stormy Point Road near 265. If you know of someone who can do this work please send me their information in a PM. Mike
