Storms are magnificent - from the proper distance. 4.2 inches of rain at my place north of the lake since Thursday. Including 1.15 this AM. Wonder what the bite will be, if any, tomorrow... Sure had plans for the next couple of days. I haven't been able to go for over a week. Sitting and watching all you guys tearing them up has been a real hoot for me!

https://www.weather.gov/safety/safeboating-week I don't work anymore, but perhaps if I go into town for anything....Actually I try not to go to town on Fridays or weekends and it's on the 18TH. Darn. I miss out on everything.

We got .25 inch out of all of that. Yippee, the drought is broken (said with a Brooklyn - Yiddish accent)

I had some tiny underspins so ordered some 1/4 OZ on ePay. Of course, they'll be hitting something else next week when those arrive so keep us posted. I did catch a decent walleye near Masters a week ago on a blue Rapala. Actually first keeper eye for me on this lake.

Got 5!!! (5 hundredths). 6 inches of thunder. All went south of me so the satellite is back up and I'm buying underslung jigs!

Do not recall. Been 12 or 13 years ago and I didn't meet the guy. Got emails from him. He met with a neighbor nearer to where the pics were taken and his description of the guy in no way suggested a trapper or any other form of outdoor type.

Do people not notice that the great majority of the commission's time and money now goes into the large cities of the state? They spend loads on those big nature centers because cities are where the votes to retain the sales tax are found. The "Conservation Areas" near me are abandoned and grown up. One even had the outhouse removed. One is actually marked with no trespass signs and few people know it exists. I retired from a different state office and know well how a lot of my taxes are wasted. All agencies need oversight. But, think I'll open a different can of worms and go fishing this evening!

Neat. That Mitchell is newer than the ones I use, but still better than you can buy these days. Thinking back to all the steel rods and wooden lures in my dad's and granddad's sheds. Wish I'd kept more of that stuff, but where on earth would I keep it. There is a decent bamboo fly rod in the man cave. One of these days it needs new wrappings and replacement of missing guides. Another hobby waiting in the wings... Interesting that there were 70's calendars. I thought they ran folks off the land in the 60's, but fortunately none of my family was involved by that time having fled during the depression.

I took pictures of a 6 inch paw print in fresh snow 12 years ago. Sent it to Jeff City. They sent a "biologist" from Springfield up here to advise me it was made by a dog.

I think it will change also. Eventually. I can't wait! I hate coming home at night in the country and so forth. Never had any reason to need a gun while fishing or camping, but have grabbed one numerous times at home. I have a different take on lighting. I know it's convenient to have it, but head band lamps are cheap now. I spent many years around remote electronics installations. Hardly anybody ever bothered those things unless there was a dusk/dawn light in the parking area. The light attracts beer drinkers just like bugs - then the .22 rifles came out and so did the windows... Light just makes it easy to see what they are stealing. I have no pole lights around my place. I haven't been out at night yet. Maybe this week! Sure got warm fast.

Yeah. I predate the jet ski too. Most everything else, in fact. I watched them building the dam. I recall a time before people learned to steal from boats!

If you read that link to COE regulations I posted earlier, it seems to defer to state laws regarding alcohol. I think if you are of age a beer is fine in the camp ground. Probably also in a boat. Just don't drive the boat intoxicated, but there again is a state controlled regulation. And I would personally appreciate it if you didn't hoop, hollar and spin in your fishing seat like that chick I saw yesterday! Saw my first jet ski yesterday also. Stand by for the skiers.😖 Someone mentioned the VA. Totally different animal. Don't know about that.

Caught some yesterday in the Masters area while working the banks with a blue Shad-Rap. Pre-spawn female pretty good sized. And working the bank I picked up a nice Walleye. A (too short) small mouth took it on the "plop" with 2 others following it to the boat. Time for Hula Poppers perhaps? Or do they still make those. Mine may be wooden....... I hadn't been out in over a week. Could not believe the water was already 72 in spots.

I have to quit reading about this stuff....Now it seems my usual pocket folder is illegal! Blade can only be 2.5 inches and this thing is 2.75!!! Sucker saved my life last trip out when I got wrapped up in heavy braid stuck to a tree in the wind. Whipped that out and with one hand opened it and cut the line. I'll have to go through the collection and find a shorter one. Maybe it's an excuse to buy a new knife! If life gives you Wheaties, make dough balls!

I found the passage from the law http://www.handgunlaw.us/documents/COERulesPamphlet.pdf You cannot have a firearm -OR- ammunition according to that. I had never seen the ammo part before. Sheesh. You can have a gun while legally hunting during the proper season with the proper permit, etc. It's really a can of worms and I'm not an attorney.
-
Uh. I think the law says Guns AND ammunition. I'm going to do some more research. I don't suppose you know the troopers name? There is couple court cases about this, but they drag on.

Yes. Pretty much a cut and dried trip to federal prison and a date with hairy legs.

Videoing is an excellent idea! At least act as though you are to scare them away. This is very frustrating. I guess locking your gun in a vehicle on Corps land not such a good idea.

I walked up from the dock at Masters couple weeks ago and saw a rusty white Ford Ranger spin around and speed away from the lot. Didn't think much at the time. Guess we should start writing down license numbers and paying closer attention. If the law catches them, they'll make them eat jail food before letting them go...

Golden eagles are not that uncommon to those of us with chickens in the area. Nice fishing!

Great! Really hate seeing those old gas stations going to waste.

Need Fishing Seat Upgrade. Millenium?

Do any of the power pedestals lock the rotation or do they spin freely? Ordered a seat and trying to decide which post to get. Thanks for all the suggestions. -

EEK but this new adventure is costing money. But, probably should start keeping the wallet in a Ziploc bag at least. I lost a tan mult-pocket Bass pro vest between State park and the dam last month. Wouldn't have happened if I'd had the thing on. -

Amen to that!
