  1. I'm in. Just joined the group.
  2. How were you working the Ned? I couldn't get bit on it over on Bull last week, but I wasn't super committed to it that day. I typically drag and deadstick that thing and tear them up. That wasn't working the other day though.
  3. We were out there yesterday and were probably leaving as you were putting in. I have to admit that we got our butts handed to us. We fished exactly where your pic was taken and never even got a bump. We spent way to much time further away from those banks lobbing a-rigs. The best bite I had all day was on a rock crawler and I lost that fish 10 feet from the boat. Not sure why we didn't stick to the cranks at that point. Ended up catching 1 keeper (if you stepped on it) all day on a Dixie Jet spoon over a brush pile along with 3 shorts and a short crappie. Tough day for us,
  4. I can't see how shortening the lanyard could be a bad thing.
  5. I knew that my plan to throw a gizzard shad Hudd tomorrow sounded like a good one.
  6. That was my first reaction too. That and that wave/wake sure didn't look very big. Scary stuff...
  7. Headed out to K-Dock on Wednesday morning. I'll have both a rock crawler and an A-rig tied on. I also just got my new set up for throwing big swimbaits, so I plan on dragging a shad colored Huddleston 68 a little bit too.
  8. Exactly. The line twist has really been my biggest issue with the smaller reel. I'm planning on trying to grab a 3000 size again. The trade off of less twist, and more drag is probably worth my perceived reduction in feel.
  9. Am I the only one that thinks that I lose a bunch of feel with the larger reel? I've stuck to the 2500 size Pflueger for that very reason.
  10. If you already like the Lew's rods, I'd try the Speed Stick that they made for the Ned rig. I have one, and it's one of my favorite rods. I think mine's 7ft ML and they're $99 pretty much anywhere.
  11. I've used the braid and it's fine. I tried 30lb and had some trouble with it binding up on the spool, but that's on me for not using 50-65lb.
  12. BPS had a bunch of the Berkely schooling rigs for $3.99 a week ago. I like that they have that keeper ring that holds them closed for storage, but they're pretty flimsy and come with no blades.
  13. I always describe it as feeling like you've hooked a big leaf. The action disappears. Having said that, I set the hook on rocks quite a bit too!
  14. Do you have issues with that Strike King rig wrapping up around itself almost every other cast? I've switched to Hog Farmer rigs and no longer have the issue, but they're way more expensive.
  15. What kind of little swimbaits are those?
  16. I found what I thought was a great deal on TW yesterday. Okuma has the Concept C3-40x castin rods marked way down to under $100. Any of you guys have any experience with these?
  17. We've been catching A-rig fish on Bull for the last month.
  18. We stayed in about 20-30 feet of water and were just slow rolling back to the boat. I did see a pic of a 7lber that a friend caught off of a secondary point in Mincy. I missed a huge bite. It must have slammed it toward the boat and I wasn't ready for it. The thing knocked a ton of slack in my line and was gone.
  19. So we hit it hard on Wednesday out of K Dock. There were 3 of us in the boat and it started out with a bang. We had 6 all on A rigs at the first stop and even had a triple. Bounced around dragging A rigs across points all the way to Mincy creek picking up a couple here and there. All in all I think we had 26 between the 3 of us with the biggest fish being a smallmouth that was just under 4lbs. We had 9 keeps and I'd say that the best 5 went somewhere around 11-12lbs. Not a bad 4 hours, but it was pretty cold out there. Water temp was 45 at 8:00 when we put in.

  21. Yeah, sorry about that. I'm headed back there on Wednesday if I can get out of work. I'll report back my findings.
  22. I had some friends down there on Saturday morning. They were just south of the state line from Yocum, and they tore them up with jerkbaits and A-rigs. Allegedly had around 20 keepers between the two of them.
  23. I'm in. I'll bring a partner, and we'll wear matching jerseys.
  24. I'm a huge fan of the Pflueger Supreme. I have 2 of them and they're all I use for the ol Ned.
  25. No worries man. I suck at responding on here.
