  1. I second Jason Conn.
  2. Honestly, if you're looking to finance I would do it sooner than later. The market is dropping some now bt rates are rapidly rising. If paying cash, I'd wait 4-6 months.
  3. Dutch you know I'm up to speed on these things. There is a TON of debt out there and all of these people that were buying these toys the last 2-3 years are literally buried in them. You guys see $200,000. I see $2000-2500 a month in payments and insurance. We aren't far off from a good rate on a car or truck being 8% like 2007-2008. There will be deals to be had on these toys once the banks repo them.
  4. WORD
  5. I've had some good ones on the S-Waver glide, and a Jackall Gantarel which is a big bluegill swimmer. My best producer has easily been the Spro Rat and it's not even close. It's a giant wake bait, but I fish it super slow and keep it on top. When they eat it, it sounds like someone flushed the toilet! I went weeks without getting bit on it, and then one day had a 6 just destroy it. I was hooked at that point. I mostly throw it at night now, but I'm very careful around bushes and stuff like that. Losing a big swimbait is just part of it, but it isn't a good feeling.
  6. I paid $3.74 at Sam's at 7:00 last night.
  7. I have a BPS crankin' stick but just got the new Lew's XD series 6XD rod. It's awesome and perfect for these baits obviously. I also have a Dobyn's Champion XP 765 that I have loved for 5 and 6 XDs.
  8. Bill you've forgotten more about fishing than I know, but I can tell you that I never throw a crankbait (even a deep one) on anywhere close to that heavy of a rod. Medium to a moderate action medium heavy. On the 5 and 6XD I use a 7' 6" inch rod, but never that heavy. It gives them just that little split second to get that bait all the way in their mouth. The slower action keeps the trbles pinned too. Just my 2 cents, but I would bet those are good fish just not getting in their mouth all the way.
  9. Is there any slime on the bottom over that way? We fished out of Baxter yesterday and it was horrible with slime.
  10. I was there on Sunday very early and we wrecked the whites. Huge females mostly.
  11. I think I saw in the big ad that they have Berkely Trilene 100% Floro bonus spools for $19.99. I've been buying line online at Sportsmen's Outfitters. They routinely run big sales on Sunline and Seaguar products.
  12. Twin Bridges is great early March for white bass. I fish the mid lake area a couple of times in the fall and go up the Elk too. I have wrecked them on a crankbait and a spinnerbait on that lake. It's definitely not Table Rock or Bull. Docks and shallow bank running is where I've had the most success.
  13. Any slime?
  14. Crankbait season is just about here so you know that slime is going to make us all work for that bite!
  15. If you keep after it, there are always fish shallow willing to eat a jig.
  16. Interesting. They're supposed to be fishing tomorrow and they have no permit listed. I hadn't even gotten around to looking until just now.
  17. Agreed. I have too much going on to do anything other than gripe and show up to gripe. Maybe we can all get together 1-2 times a month at different spots. I'll fish that K-Dock area of Bull a lot if it doesn't flood and if there's no weekday deal. When I found out about this, I was already annoyed. Boatworks had to more the date of the jerkbait tournament to the 12th and I'll be out of town now. Just thankful I hadn't already paid for it.
  18. Dutch, Andy and I aren't young kids though. Excluding 40 somethings that literally contribute 25% of the weekly pot makes no sense to me. It's whatever. I'll save the $60 a week and will fish the White more this year I guess.
  19. I still can't figure out what they could possibly be thinking. I went out of my way to make sure I'd be off on Wednesdays and planned on fishing most if not all of them this spring and summer. I admit that I wasn't very active last year, but with a job change and schedule issues I still managed to fish 3-4 of them and paid my membership. The fact that they changed that meeting to Monday on such short notice was BS. I spent my day in Jeff City with my son who just got the rank of Eagle Scout while he was recognized for that at the capitol. I can't see how they ever have more than 6 boats going forward. Hope someone comes up with another mid-week deal.
  20. Fished K Dock yesterday. Threw the jerkbait almost all day. Between the 2 of us we had 7 keepers, 1 short, and 1 22 inch walter. All were largemouth and our best 5 were just over 15lbs so there was some quality. The lightest keeper was 2.2lbs. It was weird. Only had 1 until the big wind started and then we would bounce around but the bites were few and far between. Only 1 spot produced more than one bite. 5 were on the jerkbait, 2 on the rock crawler, and one on the A rig. I think we could've put together a good day on the A rig, but I didn't even take it with me. I was hell bent on force feeding that jerkbait to them. All in all it was a good day, but it was a lot of jerk jerk pause with not a ton of hookups and my back is letting me know about it today!
  21. Hope they do over at K Dock Wednesday morning. Will give a full report Thursday.
  22. Dobyns Champion XP 704 CB or CB Glass. I know Jewel has just launched a Virtus rod for these as well. I use Lew's KVD CC4 and a Dobyns Champion XP 704 CB and really like both.
  23. Pepe, message me sometime and I'll come and tag along. I'm off most wednesdays and hit the upper end of the lake a lot. I've rarely ever been lower than Lead Hill area and would welcome checking out the other parts of the lake. I have gas money too...lol
  24. I rarely throw a jerkbait that doesn't get down deeper. I seem to get a lot more bites on one that gets down to that 8-10 foot range. That leaves me tossing the MB 110+1 A LOT. It just catches em. I have a box full of the regular ones and McSticks, Pointers, Rogues, etc...but I always go with the +1. Probably a confidence thing though.
  25. I'd be shocked if it was anything other than an A-rig with him.
