Not much top water, only of the gar/carp like action. That little gill was 8", I need to wash my measuring board. Marked several large fish on sonar in open water around the 15' range, I think gar. Very strong sonar reflection. I was looking for deep schools, due to my late arrival, but no luck. I did see some white dots in deep trees 80ft on the DI who knows???

Yes Bill I got on the water late.😛 Anyway here it is. Lots of gills in the 12ft range, had trouble hooking up, little suckers. Got this one the same dropshot as the bass.

My son bought a Pflueger this time, I have several of the Lews spinning reels of different price points, it seems like the small reverse thread nut below the spool wants to back off on a couple models, it is irritating to fumble with while on the water. I am going to try a small drop of lock tight. I guess I am going to have to grow up and learn to run a casting reel.😁 on my spinners i get good distance and excellent feel with braid and a leader, i just have found not found the same sensitivity with a bait caster. I can't make myself drop a bunch of money on a combo though.

I am really enjoying my 4 piece travel pole, it is a Basspro 6'6" medium fast, I paired it with a Lews 200 series reel. It brakes down to something under 24". Anyway..after taking my wife out to breakfast, I decided to stop by Jones creek to see if I could feed the fish. I caught a couple small bass then this guy, I thought this fish was just beautiful !. It was a nice way to start a Sunday, then it was off to sunday school and worship.

I have caught numerous big gills on the flats around Big M in the fall in 30ft of water with bottom bouncers. I wonder if that would work now ?

That is a much better out look. I hear of a guy who speared a wave on Stockton, during a tournament. He cracked the hull.

I have a name for people like that but I am a Christian and I try not to curse, du.....ss😁. I fished that lake hard for 2 yrs in all weather. I have never speared a wave.

It was a brand new rod, not real expensive but it worked, back the we ran that river in an old richline aluminum boat, with some sort of small out board that we used an eight penny nail for a prop shear pin. I knew nothing of boat or trailer registration back then. I am unsure if I even bought a fishing license?? Those were the days.😃

No, but years ago floating the James river, above Galena, I looked down and happened to see a white fishing rod on the bottom in about 2ft of water. I got it out it had a silver rooster tail tied on, before I got to Galena I boated 26 white bass with it. Fish Spirits hmmm😊
