  1. I just went over them last year.
  2. I split the cream cheese with a soft camambert or go another way and use really good mayo (reel mayo - NOT miracle whip) and a couple of dashes of chili powder. And instead of crackers use really good rye or other "interesting" bread and make toast rounds. (Toast each piece of bread and into 4 pieces.) Yes I'm a foodie, too.
  3. I'm still with the high-vis superline/fluoro leader camp. Because it works, and because it makes some folks on here scratch their head wondering why.
  4. Would love to make it - lot's of work to be done for it to happen.

I've caught some nice ones right beside that old bridge piling over the years.
  6. Most years I take the chainsaw and drop down from Linden to the park cutting anything out of the way - too busy to do it this year. Ozarm Mountian paddlers do this too - but they may not have hit the Finley yet.
  7. It's hard to fish from the bank - not much access. You do O.K. from a boat. Like was said - the stretch from Linden down to the park is better.
  8. There's a ledge like that on the Finley. (Hmmm)
  9. I mostly like natural colors but for Smallmouths I have a couple of "hot" colors that work better sometimes - orange in a couple of saltwater Spit'n'Images and clown in the newer XRap Walk.
  10. I've started wearing it when on the water - period. Regular Bass Pro XPS vest. It's a little hot when paddling in summer but it's hard to tell your son to "always wear your PFD" when you don't do as you say.
  11. I was down there yesterday morning - lots of people - there will be tons of folks down there today. I caught two nice 3 pounders and some short ones on an 8 size XRap in olive on 8 pound fluoro - I don't think it's as much the line as it was stated the day bite is tough - it's better at night. And they were spawning up at the shoal - it's gonna be hot then over by next week so get them while you can.
  12. When someone has it figured out they don't complain, when they haven't, they do - simple as that.
  13. It's not a big secret but that new Deep series 3 is one of best White River Lake cranks. Good report.
  14. Jeez. Let him try to go after someone making lures for personal use and sharing - not for profit. Anyway I need to post a double wire weedgaurd jighead I've been making but it's not a round or mushroom head - maore of a bullet just for swimming through heavier stuff. Maybe tonight.

Probably a family member of the ones I've seen in that stretch, but not for a couple of years. There's a family of minks that live in a small cave in the bluff at the park in Ozark - you really have to be stealthy to see them but once I saw one eating a small largemouth bass like an ear of corn. "nom nom nom nom nom nom...return, nom nom nom nom nom ..swallow, return, nom nom nom nom....."
  16. Did you see the little prams or whatever those couple of tiny boats that were out there after lunchtime? Or was that you?
  17. Yep - it's not on yet. Caught two tiny male 'Eyes, and an O.K. ( about 13" - 14") Brown trout on a Thomas Bouyant spoon (rainbow) and the walleyes on a 08 size XRap in silver/black.
  18. With the warming trend this week it'll get fired up - I'm going down there in a minute and will check back during the week at night at least a few times. It's time.
  19. The park in Ozark is still frozen as of this morning. Edit: Ozark Mtn. Trading company was down there at lunch busting the ice up at the ramp - should be fine tomorrow, for paddling at least - good luck on the fishing.
  20. I use the 7' Microlight in Med/Light. I haven't cast Phil's so I can't say if they're a lot better or not but that's what I use.
  21. I would be interested in one or both of the Silver Max. P.M. sent.
  22. From Lake Springfield to Table Rock is just about exactly 50 on the James. Plenty of big gravel bars away from roads to camp. Places to dump trash? - I'm not sure on that, but you might get some help from the Upper White River Basin Partnership. Any of the canoe rental places might give you a group rate - you probably just have to ask.
  23. Yep - and taking out at Kerr would shorten it to about 43 miles, too. Taking out at Blunks would put it over 50. The James could use a clean up. I do what I can, but I'm just one man...
  24. And a 7' Medium power/fast action would be good for 9 out of 10 applications - especially if you are shore or wade fishing.
  25. I still like the the old Jelly Worm in grape. I use the smaller 6" ones all the time but plan on using the 12" this summer. My brother uses them in Kansas farm ponds for big ones and they do.
