  1. Love this!
  2. I like golf.
  3. Just saw this.... Bill B. got me in touch with one of the partners who I visited with a couple of months ago. He had the inventory left by Bo - 6 figures worth. He wasn't sure what he was going to do with it so he wasn't necessarily offering it to me... and I wasn't sure if I wanted to buy it, although he said I could double my money pretty easy. As far as I know he's still sitting on them.
  4. I still haven't been up there this year to wade... but they've been starting generation about 2-3 pm and running till dark.
  5. We've lost quite a few guys to pickleball from basketball. They keep trying to get me to play... I tell them I will after I retire from BB. I did play a couple of weeks ago for fun. I had trouble getting low enough to hit it. The paddle is too short... I'm used to a tennis racket. I played alot of ping pong and tennis growing up.
  6. I'm afraid to quit playing at this point. I don't do anything else to stay in shape. Really need to build some muscle, not for playing but because I'm going to need it. I started working out with weights in 2007 thru 2011. I still benefit from that strength I believe. I know alot of it is genes for most of us but just being smart with stretching and eating right can do wonders for an aging body. Just got to do it.
  7. 9/19 is a popular date. My sister is 3 years behind, I had 2 uncles and 1 aunt born on the 19th. And Bill Medley shares the same bday.
  8. I know alot of you guys can relate... I got my medicare card... signed up for all the D's and G's and supplemental ABC's yesterday. Can't believe 65 years have passed... but I am super grateful for being blessed as we have been. Started the day at 3:30, ball at 5:30 with a great bunch of guys and having a bible study with 3 awesome guys at 1 pm... may be a little fishing later this evening. And of course thankful for this community of people. I hope to meet more of you face to face in the coming years.
  9. Where does he guide out of normally? Which area of the lake?
  10. Wonderful!! Welcome to the forum. Feel free to post any videos you'd like too.
  11. Thank you Brian for your comments... always welcome here. You helped me start this thing. I think it's still better than any FB group. What would you do to the river? What's your Christmas list?
  12. Sorry - I'm not making much sense...
  13. No. The coldwater fishery in general.
  14. I've been told that Stone County is losing one of its conservation agents to the federal gov't. She's going to be a federal marshal. She was a good agent as some of you know first hand. I've been checked by her. She's all business. Thank you for your service, Kearby!
  15. It's only recently (2-4 years) we've seen any sign of natural reproduction. That's a lot of years of little to zero activity. And it all might just go away. It's man made.
  16. Thanks for sharing. Never gets old.... admiring how beautiful trout are.
  17. It would be interesting to get water temps from below BSD and TRD and compare. Of course, each year is different. This year our water has stayed much cooler than most years, and we've had some years when our water is very warm in the fall until TR turns and cold temps arrive and cool things down. As far as flow, the White does have better, consistant flow but they did before minimum flow started and browns spawned successfully. But the White is a river and has structure ideal for spawning brown, esp just below the dam. And they spawn later than Taney's browns so the water is cooler. I fished below the dam one February before the no fishing rule was implimented and there were browns spawning all over the shoals. If Taney's browns spawned in January and February, we might see some survive. But we have really only 2 shoals below the dam that has moving water adequate for spawning trout. The pondweed in the lake would only help young rainbows if they or when they move out of the creeks and into the lake. Comparing Taney and the White as far as DO levels - we have an advantage because they inject liquid O2 into the turbines when generating plus hatchery outlets dump in water that's high in DO. The White has neither. All they can do is open vents on the turbines that allow air to mix with water as it passes through.
  18. There's quite a few in the lake. MDC has acknowledged that there is natural reproduction happening here. One contributing factor is the pondweed growth - where young trout can hide from predators. And yes- they are prime trout bait - both browns and rainbow eat them.
  19. Losing a child or spouse had to be one of the hardest things in this life. Our heart goes you to you, Doug.
  20. Thanks!!
  21. Fished again this evening. Same MO. Almost as many fish but bigger. More rainbows but still caught a dozen browns. One nice rainbow.
  22. I'm fishing in a benefit bass tournament out of K dock 9/30... I'll be asking for advice! I don't care about winning... my partner is a gal I work with at our food pantry and I want her to have a good fishing experience. So even if it's catching blue gill... I'm go for it. Beaver Creek might be a good place to start.
  23. The last 2 evenings I've gone out and fished from Fall Creek Marina down throwing a black/sculpin 1/32nd oz jig 2 pound line and really had good success. I took 2 friends Wednesday evening - both novice anglers - and they both caught 15+ trout. Ricky lost a nice 20 inch rainbow at the boat. Last evening I took Marsha and she kicked my butt the first 30 minutes. Both times we caught 1 brown to every 3 rainbows, all smallish 11-13 inch "stockers". But boy did they fight! I did see 4 different fish come up along the bluff bank chasing - I assume big browns chasing other trout.
