  2. I'll call again tomorrow. May be it's just my phone. Thanks
  3. Thanks, Dan. Worried about my friend Jim.
  4. Does anyone know if Ark Rod / Rock Springs Tackle is still open in Harrison, AR? Can't get through and their email bounced.
  5. All you need is a video showing it fizzing and a fish coming over and eating a plastic bait in front of it. Sell a million, regardless if it works. Remember the colorado spinner bait by Bass Pro? They showcased that to death and I bit... and I'm not a bass fisher!
  6. Next time you guys ask about what to fish with and where on the lower lake, remember this video. Looks like fun.
  7. Found this on Youtube... nice bass on the lower lake. By Brian Hillman. Took my good friend, Brad B, out kayak fishing for his first time. He's a great angler who I've fished many bass boat tournaments with in the past. I brought him to one of my favorite honey holes and of course he catches the biggest fish of the day. Excuse our goofiness but it's all fun and games when we get together!
  8. Trout fishing has gotten really good the last week. Maybe all the rainbows that have been down at the Landing have moved up where we can see them caught now... not sure. Of course this weather change is very welcomed. If you watch One Cast, you've been seeing us throw 1/16th ounce jigs off the dock and catching a lot of trout. It's jut not happening on camera but all during the day. I've been handing my rod to people who are trying various lures off the dock to have them try throwing what we're throwing and they are having success too. The 2-pound line makes all the difference, plus you can't throw a jig that small using 4-pound line. The trout are holding high in the water column and I think it's because they're feeding on midges that have swam up to the surface to hatch. I haven't cleaned any of these fish we're catching or pumping their stomachs but most are fat with something and I'm assuming it's midges. It's not often we see Chuck Gries, fly fishing guide, fishing out in front of our dock but he was there yesterday and his clients were fishing a Zebra Midge under a float. And yes they did very well. We've been throwing small jigs other places on the lake and doing almost as good with the exception of some areas up in the trophy area. Still can't figure out why some stretches are void of fish like from Lookout to the Narrows and Big Hole to the MDC Ramp. Now that's my experience... others might be killing them. But it's been that way most of the summer, for me. Our water temperature is still holding just below 50 degrees which is excellent for this time of year. We're hoping for a non eventful fall season as far as water problems go.

    By the Way....

What's eye opening about these games are the records being set - blown out of the water. Swimming records beat by 2 seconds??? That's unheard of. Winning in gymnastics by 8 points?

  11. Thanks for the memories, everyone; it’s been a great ride http://www.kansascity.com/sports/outdoors/article95446392.html
  12. Duane and I went back out at 6, boated to Lookout and tried the same eddies I'd found trout rising in earlier in the day - they weren't there. Crazy. Same generation but no holding rainbows. So we boated to the dam and threw jigs. Duane did pretty good but I stunk. Throwing 1/16th oz dark jigs like sculpin and brown with an orange head. They didn't like them to shallow - let them sink 4-5 feet. 2-pound like of course. Caught nothing over 15 inches. One pretty brown. With the cooler weather there's not much fog - which is nice. Didn't have to run back down early to beat the fog. Kris Nelson had a friend out fishing yesterday, fishing jigs from Big Hole down to the ramp and they did real good on sculpin 1/8th ounce jig, orange head. One rainbow at 20 inches and another brown on that was bigger they didn't get to the net. Kris is one of our guides.
  13. Got out today. Wanted to see mainly if were there any trout looking up and hitting dry flies. They were but only in a small stretch below Lookout Island. Jigs were working too.
  14. I have to be honest and say I haven't been reading much on the forum lately. It's summer and we're busy... but it sure seems like the forum has become infested with feuds between a handful of members. They've been building the last couple of weeks. And the feuds aren't old feuds... Who's right or wrong - I don't think anyone cares. What I do know is everybody here is tired of it. Cool it! Take a break from the forum if you have to. Go fishing!
  15. What price will i be paying exactly? OK guys...now i see who's involved and what's going on.... This forum won't be part of this - whatever it is. I'm going to leave this thread in case something happens in the future. I know you guys get worked up about fish... and it's so easy to throw around words on a computer screen... I don't want to BAN anyone but it may come down to just that. Top Dollar - I see your point but now you're just baiting SB's into a confrontation. Smalliebigs - you've put yourself in a no win situation by taking on an offense that may belong to someone else. The two involved in the spat can settle their differences but you can't cause it's not your offense to begin with. I'm closing this... not because the discussion itself has gone bad... I won't allow the bickering and threats to continue. And if it goes further, some of you will be gone. No more warnings.
  16. You guys shouldn't take all this so personal... I don't like the mean spirited dialog I'm reading. At all.
  17. This thread made my head spin... Is it done? Should I kill it and put it out of its misery?
  18. Jeremy Hunt posted this on his Facebook Page. he's given me permission to re post it here on OAF. We all had a goal in mind.....put Lisa on the biggest brown of her fly fishing career. We meet up with my buddy John Holsten who has been night fishing the white with one of his friends named Trakker Young. They have been dialing in this mouse bite and we were able to link up and spend a night fishing together. It was all about Lisa on this trip so I took a back seat to watch the show, and boy did I get to do that. Within ten minutes Lisa hooked her first Brown which was the biggest of the night. These two guides got this river dialed in for sure. If you want a big brown mousing these are the dudes you need to hire. There were a few things that had to line up to make this trip a success so I wouldn't wait too long because you never know how long it will last. Go like their facebook page and keep up with the latest info and news at straight outta cotter. The next day it was about research fishing hoppers. I still didn't fish, I guided Lisa until 2pm and we fished from the dam down to Wildcat. Water was a little shallow to push the fish to the banks, but we still managed to hook a few. Fish are starting to look up so the hopper bite has started for the most part. Now we just need some flow along the bank with it being a little more consistent and it should be game on!! I have a few spots left if you want to get in on this action, but I'm sure they won't last long. See you on the river!!
  19. Drove to the dam and met DJ about 11:15 pm last night. Running 35 mw of water. Foggy. Started at the cable - all I wanted to do is throw jigs. Not knowing the speed of current was the hardest thing - then it was hard telling what depth. Didn't have waders, just high boots but it didn't matter. Caught one rainbow in the tail, then a spotted bass at the big tree above outlet #1. Worked on down and only got bat bites, I think. No hookups. DJ did better - I'll let him report. But it was slow fishing overall. Need to get up there when it's daylight to see what I'm doing.
  20. Interesting... depending on the dates, I'd go.
  21. It's interesting to see how these rainbows in our lake move around after being stocked. Most are stocked down lake from the Landing and tend to move up. All summer it seems they've stayed down and fishing's been great - down there. But the last couple of days there's been a bunch of trout up in our area - yeah!! They're still liking to chase... and they're hitting our jigs now. But with this 35 mw of current, the smaller the jig the better. Two-pound line and 1/16th ounce jigs best and worked not off the bottom but up in the column. Colors don't seem to matter much - have 6 different colors and keep switching. Trout worms under s float 5-6 feet deep is still a killer technique. Also Micro Jigs. Again, 2-pound like will catch way more fish than 4-pound. Follow this thread for a night bite report up below the dam.
