    They run up rivers to spawn. I never tried for them outside of the spawn. I assume it is a defense thing like salmon. We had fish turn and eat flies. That's all I can tell you. I can show this spring if you like.

    I saw this coming. When they are spawning we would stand side by side and they would prefer one color over another. I argued this before so I'll concede that you are right and it was me and my buddies imagination for 3 years straight. Carry on.

    I got over it pretty quick. But the first take by 3' of any fish is a rush. I stumbled on a hole packed with them when I was chasing hybrids all over the place.

    I had my fun with them and I'm over it. Although they are big they don't fight as good as a common. Besides that, they are nasty. My best day was probably 9-10 of them in a couple hours. I didn't weigh them because they literally fall apart if you touch them so I went with length. I few were 3'. And I know they don't take flies.....But they do. Doesn't bother them at all as far I have seen. And I can show you thousands of them.
