  1. Been using the free version of Navionics on my phone and pretty happy with it. I do NOT use it to navigate channels.
  2. Was it just an off year or has it been getting worse over time? We haven't had any heavy rains for a couple months, Truman was drained back down from the late spring floods, boats / waves dropped off greatly weeks ago and we barely have 2' of visibility at the mouth of the Glaize arm?
  3. Never could get excited about fishin in a barrel.
  4. I wonder if there is ANY lake in the country with the amount of tournaments LOZ gets approved? Has anyone asked the MDC to participate on this forum, I know they have had agents answer questions on other MO forums.
  5. I was just messin around off our dock this morning. Minners, slip bobber set at 6-7' in 10 fow produced the biggest fish. Farther out and deeper I went the smaller the fish got. I caught several 12" after dark a couple nights ago in 3 fow casting small jigs.
  6. And now I am biting them too! Crappie.....blah.
  7. And now I am biting them. Mmmmm blackened.
  8. Some of the BEST fishing on LOZ has been during drawdown levels. Give it a couple weeks water temps are about to get down into the 60's I hope fishimg stays terrible until "fishing" season is over for 99% of folks.
  9. I'd put these on the back of my 193 Champ but she already struggles to get on plane with a tank of fuel and livewells full.
  10. Ya, let's hope setting a good example spreads. OR, they could write the suggested program and procedures for tournament weigh ins for others to follow. Bringing in just your biggest fish doesn't work...you still hauled a livewell full of fish around all day and then chose one at the end.
  11. Meh, much more change is needed. It's a step in the right direction but not enough. I would say a fish caught within 2 mi of PB2 on LOZ has a 70% chance of having a huge hole in it's lower jaw. B.A.S.S doesn't need to change....tens of thousands of amateur tournaments need to change.
  12. Turning over, extreme temp fluctuations/weather changes, fish getting absolutely pounded by huge tournaments...pick one. Just watched the first 45 min of the FLW Costa weigh in which confirmed what I said earlier. Very few limits coming in, a lot of 1, 2, 3 fish bags. Dion Hibdon only had 4 fish. Leader was at 19lbs, 2nd was 17 when I left and it dropped off after that. I think 13lbs was top 10 but several boats had not weighed yet. The crappie bite has been great all day, and even better at night for me.
  13. Crappie have caught on fire with this cold snap in 6'-8' on the docks. Black bass fishing is as bad as I have seen it here. Most guys are lucky to scratch a limit together in a day right now. Headed over to watch the FLW Costa weigh in here in a bit to see how the pro's fared, I'm sure the locals will bring in some 20lb sacks. If I were going out to fish for fun, food or numbers right now I would be targeting white's, just throw a lipless on the bank and burn it back on windblown points.
  14. You hammered?
  15. I wanna be a hammer.
  16. Old Plug...what lures and what type of areas you catching the hybrids? I'm catching a lot of whites but no hybrids.
  17. I missed it, spent a week in one of the worst countries I've ever been to (California) got home last night and walked down to the dock with a shaky head and trick worm, caught a 4 and busted off a biggun on a cable. Pretty sure I won the 10-11pm time slot!!!
  18. We have been catching some nice whites for a couple weeks now. They slowed during the warm up but they are back on the banks eatin and schoolin off points.
  19. The lake has steadily declined since filling, the reason i was told is that when they filed it, it literally flooded hundreds of old farm ponds full of large fish. Once those were caught or died the lake hasn't really fished as well since. You can still catch em, just not in the size or numbers as elsewhere. I have never seen a lake with so many small crappie. My dad fishes it 100 days a year and is lucky to catch one 15" crappie a year. We weighed some good weights back in the 80's, and was actually winning the Bud Light Tournament after day one in the mid 1990's...with 9lbs! 11lbs total got us 9th IIRC.
  20. Yes, but you also see lOTS of average guys go to LOZ and have no problem catching a limit...not so much at MTL. Why don't you post some history of the total limits weighed? If your just fishing for a check great, pretty sure the OP was looking to fish for fun, my point was he would have better chances at success elsewhere, and that's not even debatable.
  21. Those guys know the lake like the back of their hand and are basically pro's...they have cashed a monkey dodo ton of checks. For the average angler, your much better elsewhere. How about you post the first through fifth weights, I'm guessing they drop considerably, unlike other lakes.
  22. It's very, very low on my list of Lakes to fish and I spent plenty of time fishing it over the years.
  23. Boxturtleceratops. Don't see may of them around anymore.
  24. 900 million little crappie and 12 bass are waiting for you.
  25. Curious, how do you paint the blades? Are you dropping them in a fluid bed or air brushing? The baits look great, if I didn't make my own I would jump on this deal.
