  1. Apparently guys are tearin up whites and hybrids now at LOZ...I wish I knew where / how.
  2. Salt, hard to beat bull reds in Florida. Fresh, had to beat a stream smallie.
  3. Super sharp hooks make a difference with hard baits / trebles more than other baits. Not for digging into the flesh on a hookset, but rather for grabbing when the fish tries to spit it out. No matter how good you think you are, especially this time of year with jerk baits...a fish will suck it in and spit it out with out you ever knowing it. I do believe that the super sharp hooks, such as the out barbs that come on the megabass baits increase hook up ratio as they will "stick" until you set the hook vs just being spit out. I dont think the KVD's hold a candle to the Megabass hooks. I'm going to order some of these death traps and give t hem a try, it looks like they might just fit the bill.
  4. Looks like all the hammers will be at this event, good weekend to jump in a tourney!
  5. Never used, still has tags. See link below, wil take $50.00 less than new so great deal at $90.00. Don't want to mess with shipping prefer local pick up near Osage Beach. https://www.cabelas.com/product/ST-CROIX-MOJO-BASS-GLASS-CASTING-ROD/2134391.uts?productVariantId=4434819&WT.tsrc=PPC&WT.mc_id=GoogleProductAds&WT.z_mc_id1=04328489&rid=20&ds_rl=1246492&ds_rl=1246531&ds_rl=1247882&ds_rl=1252079&gclid=Cj0KCQiAj4biBRC-ARIsAA4WaFjEsRzg9D6WcL1hz0EgCLFpXBDBln-OSUI2ViFuaj2c4giOiGw2wx0aArZYEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds
  6. I have finally found a ned rig set up I really like. It's a 7' M Rod with a 2,000 series 13 reel spooled with 8lb hi vis yellow Power Pro, with an 8'-10' 8lb fluoro leader. I feel fish farts.
  7. I use them in tournaments without worry, I love the light wire hooks on these... play your fish accordingly. I would not even consider throwing one on LOZ without a weed guard.
  8. I also quit using the expensive TRDs and just cut two neds from a 5" stinko, with no less success.
  9. I use these with a high level of success. Best part is, Wally World sells a 5 pack under 2 bucks. Arkie Stand Up Jig Heads.
  10. I just went cheap after doing some research. Can't afford blue tops, so just threw 3 Everstart's in the boat for $230 all in. 1,000 CCA cranker and 2 Group 27s for the troller. Will see how they last, found a thread on BBC where a guy said he worked making batteries and most of them are made in one or two places and we would be suprised how many batteries are identical except the labels.
  11. I'm a huge fan of the Predator blanks. I have been buying and painting a dozen a year...with regular spray paints. Some KVD triple grips and rings and good to go. I finish them with a brushed on coat of 2 part epoxy and I swear they outlast anything else. Oh, and ya they catch fish just fine.
  12. You guys are just silly with this, grow up. Garmin, Lowrance, Bird...just like Dodge, Cheby, Ford. Everyone knows Garmin and Dodge are the best! Maroons.

  14. You guys are probably big Price Pfister faucet fans too!
  15. I have been extremely impressed with these $50 reels. 10BB, very smooth drag. Have landed a lot of large fish in the 2 yrs I have owned them with ZERO issues...including up to 40" redfish, and at least 10 bass over 5lbs. https://www.tackledirect.com/daiwa-regal-rg-ab-spinning-reels.html
  16. By that guide the lake is 3+ feet higher than it should be right now.
  17. Strange year, the lake is almost at full summer pool now.
  18. Runnin a 1999 193 on LOZ several times a week usually. I will say it rides noticeably better than several other new models I have ridden in recently. I'm afraid she's gonna start costin me a payment foe updates / upgrades needed soon though.
  19. I use braid to a leader on over 1/2 my set-ups, and feel they give me a definite advantage. I think I outfish a lot of guys I fish with, because I feel more bites than they do. I just recently went to 8lb Power Pro high vis yellow with a 8' long 6lb mono leader on my 5-1/2' dock shooting rod for crappie and LOVE it as well. In this cold water a lot of bites are just the fish mouthing it, there is no line jump, slack, thump, tic...and absolute ZERO MEMORY is a huge help. My #1 bass set-up is a 3000 series spinning reel, 7' M Heavy rod spooled with 20lb Daiwa J Braid with a 5' 15lb P line leader with a shaky head tied on. I have landed a LOT of big fish on that set-up the last couple years. For braid to leader connections I use a Modified Albright Knot, far superior to FG, Double Uni etc. I never "hear" my knot going through the guides. I do use 50lb braid on a 4000 series spinning reel for A-Rigs, because I want them back...I get them hung 2 out of 10 casts. I use a Palomar Knot. Flippin rod is 40lb braid to 22lb fluoro. For fluoro or mono direct to hooks / lures I use a trilene knot. Jerkbait rod is 12lb Tatsu fluoro. If you have not tried this line, I think it is one of the biggest breakthroughs in line in some time. It is way under rated for strength, amazing stuff.
  20. Minds sharing what pattern squarebill you were catching them on?
  21. Several things in thos epics besides big crappie. The fuzzy lines are in fact trolling motor interference, good call. The hard lines are the dock floats, the pic showing the right side shows a school of baitfish near bottom. I can try to make a detailed explanation pic if it would help anyone...thats actually not that good of a representation of side imaging though, I just snapped it on my phone for the size of the crappie.
  22. Thanks Rick!
